  1. Happy Birthday Deebs1990!

  2. Very interested in a definitive response to this also.
  3. Congrats on the new ute mate, they are awesome to drive...Also keep us posted on how you go with the mods, I'm very keen to do practically the same mods to mine down the track, injectors, cooler, cat and tune it all up, so am very interested in how you go with it and the results you achieve.
  4. I'm pretty keen to have my ute (FG '10, auto) lowered soon to. You reckon replacing the leaves instead of resetting them is the way to go? Also for the price pedders are charging the Herrod kit is about the same, and I've only heard good reports about it.
  5. I've just put a dual port kompact one on my FG, I like the pssshhht sound but wouldn't mind experimenting. To get the flutter you put in the washers they provide and set it really hard, is that right?
  6. Cars looks tops mate, argents look awesome on the blue F6's. Good choice using spacers to, pump the wheels out a bit. I'd also like to know if there is a definitive answer to the driveshaft issue with the ute's as I'm looking at lowering mine (2010 FG xr6t ute). I'll probably got he Herrod kit anyway but just want some options.
  7. I own a FG xr6t and my mate just bought a BA xr6t (practically the same as what you're looking at). The interior of the FG is miles better than the BA, more functionality, ergonomic and easier to use and nicer, it should be on a newer car. Also the power delivery in the FG is astonishing, boost comes on early and hard, but you can drive it normally with ease, mainly because of the great ZF. If your not modding it (I'm assuming you won't because it's a family car) then it's a lot better to begin with, and if you do decide to mod it more power is very easy to come by. But mods wise the BF 2 will be better for big power, of that was what you are after. If funds permit I'd get the FG, plus you've already had a b-series why not try something new
  8. I'm in the same situation as you blujein, got a new FG turbo ute and just want a more audible note. Not worried about performance (or voiding warranty) just yet just want a decent note out of it. Heard a few with the centre muffler (and even worse rear muffler) removed, don't like it myself but to each their own. I'll probably look into just replacing both mufflers with hotdogs, shouldn't alter the sound to drastically, just make it louder and hopefully deeper. Anybody done this, had a good/bad result and care to share their story. Also blujein update us when the exhaust is done and how it turned out for you, keen to hear your thoughts
  9. So replacing the stock airbox with an after market one won't require a tune, I was under the impression it did, to handle all the extra air going in. Will it void warranty on anything then, since nothing has been tuned?
  10. I picked up my 2010 FG xr6t, ute, ZF in black for 38k drive away (14km's when I picked it up ) at the start of june. I was pretty happy with that and thought it was a good deal.

So right now it has super lows on the front and reset leaves at the back. Done about 10k in that state, and you carry a lot of stuff around in it? Seems the newer utes may have been 'fixed/altered' and a stronger CV put in.

Thanks for that mate, good to hear yours have held up so far. Out of curiosity how many km's have you done roughly since it was lowered? Also from what I've read it's not the power that breaks the CV's/Tailshafts it's when the angle is changed the problems arise. Read a few post of guys who were towing or even had a big load in the tub and had it go on them, and their car was stock. But I understand what you mean by not testing out there limits, so to speak.

    EDIT: sorry double post
  14. Hey mate I assume you changed both your centre and rear muffler with the hotdogs? Does it drone at all? From what I can gather, like you already said removing one muffler, either centre or rear will make it drone a bit. I'm pretty keen to swap my mufflers as well (only to get a bit more sound out of it, not worried about more power yet ) but don't want it to drone.

You had any CV/tailshaft problems with it? I was under the impression the only kit really reliable (meaning not exploding CV's) was the Herrod one. How have the super lows gone for you mate?
  16. schmick325 I'd also like to know the price they charged you for the new CV's, and how did your break? Also were to 2010 utes fitted with better/upgraded, CV's/ tailshafts or was any 'fix' done?
  17. Firstly it's unregistered, can dealerships sell cars unregistered? No rego would mean it hasn't passed a roadworthy YET, maybe they don't want to roadworthy because it won't pass? To my knowledge dealerships can't sell unroadworty cars. That does appear a little cheap for an optioned up one, especially at a dealership. Although they said that rego and dealer charges/stamp duty etc, are not added yet so take a few more bucks into account, say $2,000-$3,000? But if it's been in a major accident they would have to disclose it to you, if you ask. Although a little while ago on carsales, in Victoria there was an FG XR6T ute, black, auto, lux pack, tech pack, close to fully optioned with around 17xxx km's for $34,000. If I were in Vic I would have jumped at it. Yes the rims are horrible that's probably why the price is so low

    F6 Or Xr6T

Depends what you really want. Firstly if your not worried about your warranty (I assume your not going 2nd hand) then the XR6T would be perfect. Put 20G or even half that as already mentioned into the XR and see how the F6 stacks up, looks aside...If your after something that has a little more road presence and exclusivity then go for the F6. In your position of age, license etc (which I am also in but only a few weeks off :D) I'd go for the XR6T, it'll be plenty for your first 'real' car on your open's, then when your used to the power, upgrade with the money you saved on the F6. But that's just my opinion.
  19. I was wondering this also. So the 2010 FG XR6T ute's got a revised/new tailshaft or how did they fix the problem. Do the 2010 ute's have any reported tailshaft problems either auto or manual?

    Fg Tailshafts

Glad your happy with the springs, ride height and drivabiltiy. Where did you get yours fitted, cause that is a good price.
  21. Worm do you mean if you replace a certain part it voids the warranty for that part only or anything that happens to the car? There are so many views on what will void warranty, some say the (insurer/ford) will have to prove your modification caused the failure thus voiding the warranty since it wasn't factory approved, (hence why a cat back is fine, doesn't really affect anything, but new catalyctic converters will void it, due to greater flow and need for a tune). Then some say altering anything will void warranty as it is no longer stock. Anyone who can clear this up or has any knowledge on it would be appreciated
  22. Deebs1990

    Fg Tailshafts

Yeah that's right, a lot cheaper than a new tailsahft. Just basing it on a mate who had his holdev vs ssz lowered for around $700. Good to know yours is holding up even under the extra power. Oh ok, I haven't really looked at to many other options/shops as the herrod kit was really the only choice avaialble to FG auto's without breaking cv/tailshaft. Good to know they replace everything, and do a good job.

    Fg Tailshafts

The price is fairly high but it's good to hear you've had no problems with the herrod kit. Is yours an auto or manual though, cause from what I've read on here the auto's are more prominent to the cv/tailshaft failure.
  24. Was there for about half the day, great day, with some awesome cars. Saw Spiro's for the 730RWHP run which was awesome so I can't imagine the 1000+HP one. The black FG XR6T ute out the front looked menacing, didn't get to see it run though :(
  25. Spot on mate, they should give you the time and in their experience they can tell who is serious or just looking for a joyride. All I asked was for her to do her job for 5 mins, like you said she must have made her quota already. None the less it's not much but they DID lose a sale. That same day I went to another dealerhip and was treated normally, as you were, I'm now going back to see them very soon for further negotiations. Like you said once they know you are serious they won't leave you alone, their service was also highly appreciated thus far. HOpefully I'll be stepping into an FG XR6T very soon :D
