Yeah I know what you mean. I have seen a fair few horrible white ex-chasers over the last month. This is the best I have found and it went hard when I drive it today. I think this one might be one of the "diamonds in the rough" that get found every now and then.

Oh and I am not looking for a white ex- marked chaser. The one I am looking at is Neo blue and was un-marked, no exterior lights or decals applied. Has the bracket near the mirror on the inside of the windscreen, but apart from that it is spotless. Got some pics today during my test drive.

I have had a few bad experiences with private sellers...... What I am looking for doesn't have to be an ex-chaser, but that is all that seem to be around the dealers in Syd atm.

OK guys, got to finally test drive the beast today and it went like a beast. The acceleration was so responsive straight off the mark with no lagging and kept going. Even taking it easy it was pretty responsive and handled really well. The ride was smooth and even in the wet the car kept good control. There were no weird noises coming from under the bonnet or from the diff. Price wise I got him down to $26,000 including stamp duty which is better then $26,750 plus SD. He fixed the screw holes in the center console by replacing it with a new piece. Had a look at a few others today and the closest I could get to match the features was $27,990 plus SD and he wouldn't go much cheaper and this was for a white ex-chaser with screw holes and marks from the roof racks. This one had also done 15,000 more klms.

Just been looking around at insurance prices and for agreed value in case of right off they are all around $27,500 which apparently is market value at present.

Just checked the redbook evaluation on it and it is the higher end of the klm range but price wise looks pretty right. Or am I reading it wrong ? http://www.redbook.com.au/used-cars/details.aspx?__Qpb=true&ncclist=378160,58654&Cr=&R=378160&__Ns=p_Make_String|0||p_ClassificationType_String|0||p_Family_String|0||p_Year_String|1||p_SequenceNum_Int32|0&SearchAction=N&__N=2994%204294961316%204294843582%204294965584%204294960310&silo=1300&CT=Compare&__Nne=15&__sid=126B51128C54 Thanks for your help with this too guys, just want to make sure I don't get ripped off and end up with a nice XR6 Turbo. Want something I can enjoy for a while. Your experience and opinions are really appreciated and you are a credit to this forum.

Had another closer look at it this arvo after work and going out with my dad and a mate of his that is a mechanic on the weekend. Checked the service book and it is a mid to late 2007 model, bought from Dominelli Ford at Sutherland, not far from my place, by the NSW Police Service and serviced regulary. Checked all the seats, all around the floor, the boot, inside the fuel cap flap and under the bonnet and looks to be in awesome condition, no sign of damage or touch ups. Questioned the dealer to see what he knew, though I know he could be just telling me stuff I wanted to hear. He said it came from out rural west like dubbo or somewhere I think he said, not a city based highway patrol car. He also showed me one of the white ones he had there, it had the tell tale marks from the roof racks and wiring and a dodgy touch job trying to conceal it and was not as good a condition inside. He also gave me the story about the white ones he had were all thrashed and the same with the standard detectives cars. Will check mechanically on the weekend as to how the neo blue ones stand up. He said he has another neo blue one arriving tomorrow sometime, same model BF mkII with around the same klms on it and in similar condition, may help me bargain a little bit more. This one Really looks the goods but yeah not to sure on the price......

Hey guys haven't bought one yet.... looked at a few white ones but this one caught my eye. The Neo (not light but not dark blue for us new to Ford people ha ha) BF mk II early 2008 model. Ex-Police Unmarked Chaser. Almost immaculate exterior and dark tinted windows, like darkest I have seen in a long time. There were no screw holes or marks from any roofracks or wiring around the door seals either, I checked for those after the pointers from reading threads on this forum, thanks guys. Had near new front tyres and the rears weren't much more used. The interior was almost spotless, had the screw holes in the passenger side of the center console near the gear shift from where the communications gear was all screwed, but he said that was getting replaced this week. Also has premium audio and climate control. Seats are in top condition as I heard on here also to look for wear marks from the cops utility belts. The dealer wouldn't let me test drive it as he said he was on his own and wouldn't let a young bloke take a turbo on his own, don't think he realised I was 30..... anyway he said to come back during the week. It was raining at the time as it has been for god knows how long in Sydney and the roads would have been pretty bad and probably better off for me as I did plan on giving it a bit of a performance test of my own once I got a block or so away from the dealer. Has done just over 70,000 klms but I will wait till I test drive it and give you guys more feed back after that. Oh and he is after just under $27,000 for it..... I think it is a little bit too much considering what else is around, though in the BF mk II range all I have really seen are white ones. What do you guys think about the price ? I plan on heading back out there sometime this week, not wanting to seem to eager, and getting the test drive and seeing what I can do price wise with him. He also tried to tell me that police cars are stock standard straight off the production line and aren't chipped or tuned to run better then cars available to the public. Anyone know how true this is or is it some Government crap they are told to say? He also said if I asked any police officer even highway patrol they would tell me the same thing.

Thanks for the tips guys. have been looking around for a bit at different cars, getting closer to decision time. On the dealer issue, just thought they are usually safer in ways then buying a car privately. Got my eye on one for tomorrow that is Neo blue. One more question though, a few people have been saying that you need to run XR6-Turbos on Premium Unleaded, is this the case or just recommended? Don't mind either way but have heard some people saying normal unleaded is fine.

Hi Guys and Girls, I am another one of these guys who has been driving around in a little 4 cylinder and looking at making the step up to an XR6 Turbo and it will be my first purchase from the Ford stable after owning 2 commodores and a lancer. I am looking at a second hand car, been doing a bit of reading a decided to look around for a BF mk II sedan. I love the look and the performance of the BF XR range. Going to look at a few this Sunday around Sydney. The ones I will be checking out are BF mk II either 2007 or early 2008 models and have an average of 60,000-75,000 on the clock. 2 out of 3 have the premium sound upgrade which I am looking for. From the pics they all look like they are in pretty good condition, suppose in person I would be able to tell more. They range in price from $23,000 to $27,000. Is there anything I should look out for or make sure that I check and does that price range seem right for this model ? Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys and Girls, New member here, Warren is my name, currently looking into purchasing my first XR6-Turbo. Currently have a 1.8 litre Lancer after having a few run ins with the law when I had my VL Commodore (hate to say that word here.) But after feeling like I have matured while having a self imposed performance ban, I feel it is about time to splash out on a bigger more powerful machine. Looking at a BF or BF mark II Turbo, will let you all know how I go. Thanks for having me.
