Had the same prob on 18" factory tyres. The outside of the tyres "feather" with age. If you run your hand on the outside of the tread in one direction it will feel smooth but if you do the same in the opposite direction the tread will feel raised or rough. Stick the fronts on the rear and visa versa and noise will stop.

I have scratched the silver trim on the passengers side of the dash that runs from the icc consul to the vent on the left. Has anyone replaced this trim before and if they have, can they let me know how to remove it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This happened to my son's standard XR6 rims after he stored them in the shed. I does look like worms but I think the moisture theory would be the likely cause a he lives in Darwin. You can take them to a reputable metal polisher then get them recoated. Sucks though hey!
