Plazmaman Cai Install Pics And Tips ?
Wenier replied to phtmt6ute's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Is it a battery side intake? If it is you probably need an intercooler kit to move other piping etc.- 10 replies

Yea just use 2 nuts (not the ones supplied so they stay in good nick) to install the studs. Installing the turbo is reverse of the taking out that you've done, it is pretty simple.

Early Fg Xr6T Redlines At 5500, Fg2 At 6000. Why?
Wenier replied to SuckSqueezeBangBlow's topic in General Tech
So your saying it actually has a red area from 5500? Doesn't mean the limiter is there though. BF hasn't got any red at all. -
A sign writer could make it.

If it hits 0 while your driving and its an oil pressure gauge you should check how much oil is in the car.

The BOV return piping is quite expensive and because of the length needed to get to the aftermarket intakes they just can't afford that length of pipe.

Get genuine, and read the forums to find out why.

Here is the latest version of mine, plus token cat.

Lowering them slightly can actually help a lot. I talking about a BF series but surely it will cross over. I remember my BF ute would try and 180 you in the wet for no reason then once lowered its fine. Handles much better. Of course it won't handle like the Expensive Daewoo as they have an IRS setup whereas the Falcon is still Live Axle. But the falcon can take a lot more load in the back.

Expertise Required - Ba Xr6 Turbo Question's
Wenier replied to The_Joker_2013's topic in General Tech
Another point to make note is that CAPA box is probably unable to be retuned now as its most likely an xcal1 that are no longer supported. Changing injectors to a different size will require a retune and if the cooler is much better than the current one it would also need a retune for that if not done at the same time. Pretty sure the fg injectors are different size wise to the b series and I believe its easy to convert them only one way BA/F -> FG or FG->BA/F but can't remember which way. -
You will alter how the speedo reads doing that, for that size change its probably very minimal. Have you searched out a tyre size calculator on the net to show you the difference. Remember the 45 part is a % of the width. So 235 is about 640mm Rolling diameter, whereas the 245/45 will be about 650mm. So your gaining 10mm overall. So the rolling diameter is increasing by around 1.6%. So at the 100k you'll be doing 101.6k now. Not a big difference but might be an issue if you get a flat and have to use the standard spare which is 10mm smaller. Something to think about.

The restrictor is at the turbo so the extra flow (if any) from removing the filter should make no difference. As for running a different turbo and the oil supply, it would be down to pipe diameter (banjo bolt ID) as to how much can get there.

Can say I can notice anything either. You can get a slight miss on idle from spark plugs I guess but its very slight, nothing that would cause stalling or anything like that.

Funny that they like the idea but not enough to give it to you in writing. Must not like the idea of that bit of paper going somewhere.

For that rattle/tick noise check the spring stainless that helps keep the pads in place. I had some buggered ones on a subie of mine and had basically the same issues your explaining. The squeal could be related to that or it may just be the pad type.

But don't forget forward speed also aides the helicopter in producing more lift. That is why most don't just go vertically straight up but get some height then add forward speed and you need less effort to get altitude. But as you have said it can just go straight up with nothing.

Sounds like coil issues to me with them breaking down underload. Hence the ability to run the engine out with half throttle. As said get some ford ones, and also reads like a generic tune. Is it? Must have the Volvo duoprop I think Ralph.

Rda Vs Dba....how Much Difference Between The 2? Also Brembo Pads...fg
Wenier replied to PTR_NITRO_FG's topic in Brakes
Not saying 5.1 can't be had but its just easier to stick with the DOT4 that is the same or exceeds the 5.1 for the same money. I suspect SRF will be expensive. and Super Dot 4 is still just a Dot 4 but they have change the characteristics to get a better heat rating. DOT5 was what first came out and had extremely good heat capabilities but was too compressible which isn't ideal in a brake application (dot 5 was a silicon based fluid I believe). That is when they went to 5.1 which isn't really any better than the best dot4 on the market.- 63 replies

Either are fine, I have put studs in so that the thread holes in the block are less likely to get stuffed. Fraud when servicing it had done a good job of near Fkn some so just put studs in to save it.

Rda Vs Dba....how Much Difference Between The 2? Also Brembo Pads...fg
Wenier replied to PTR_NITRO_FG's topic in Brakes
Okay, so quick google search of DOT 5.1 products brought back a Valvoline and Motul fluid both claim a dry boiling point of 270-280 Deg C. So compare this with decent DOT 4 fluids, so we have Castrol React SRF whichs is 320degC, Castrol Super Response (to be renamed React Performance) 280degC and a Nulon Super DOT 4 284degC. As you can see most decent DOT 4 fluids actually are the same or exceed the DOT 5.1 fluid. DOT 5.1 can have a higher temp rating but its hard to find a company that has achieved this and sell the product readily on the market. Hope this helps.- 63 replies

From what you have said I wouldn't be getting drilled rotors if I were you. Being that you aren't racing etc you should get away with the slotted type disc just fine with no problems (this will save you money also as drilled normally cost more). As for which disc between RDA or DBA I can't say, I have just purchase a set of DBA 5000 series slotted rotors to be fitted with some Brembo's but I only got those due to my wear area requirements for the Brembo's that aren't actually off a falcon (slightly larger pads). For your type of driving I would expect probably more than 60,000K life out of the disc depending on how aggressive the pad you use is. Also for brake fluid, I would stick with a decent DOT 4 over the 5.1 due to the hygroscopic (spelling?) nature of 5.1. And with some investigation there are DOT4 fluids that have temp ratings very close to the 5.1 so they have improved a lot over the years. As for braided lines, do them. The factory lines as they get old bulge under the pressure and heat reducing brake effect.- 63 replies

Atomic Performance version is Anchorlox. As for on planes they use lock tab washers or lockwire which are slightly different to these.

Could be the cooler like you mentioned if its not tuned. Better flow than stock may be why with that cooler.

Well gotta get up early tomorrow to catch my flight to Sydney, so much for some tramping in the Blue Mountains. Looks like I'll head in a different direction for that part of my trip. Still gonna be great to see the place.
