18 is on the high side. Mine since new has been averaging about 13.5L/100K. I don't floor it at every traffic light now but a quite few times along the way.
-
My previous bmw e90 325i didnot have this "electric rearview mirror with memory" feature but it did come with a digital compass!
-
I can confirm that only the phone number and not the name comes up on the icc screen.

Will this void the new car warranty???

I think that's the sun light load sensor. It's used to turn on/off various lights. The service advisor said the next service (30k kms) will be a "major" service. That's about $450. I should've quizzed him more on the major service details.

First of all welcome. As far as fuel economy goes, my car still averages 13.5 ltrs/100kms. I drive every day in peak morning and afternoon traffic around Sydney suburbs and the last 2 months in heavy Sydney CBD traffic. Not as good as my previous E90 325 (12. but not that far off. I think the adr combined cycle is 11.7ltrs/100kms.

My car's diff was not dropping any oil. It just looked fairly oily around the diff seam. So they just resealed and torqued it correctly. Just a minor problem IMO. But your problem sounds like brake fluid dropping onto your rim. I recommend getting a decent mechanic to check it asap. Oh good lord! You still have the Traxxion tyres on. I'm struggling big time to keep the rear OEM (dunlop sport) tyres from breaking loose! Especially on wet roads. I recommend yokohama shoes.

Definitely number but not sure about the name... I'll keep an eye on this.

I don't think I can wait 6 weeks! Mine was sitting in the show room and it took 2 days of haggling to get into my garage!

I've a sony-ericson phone and the bluetooth used to drop out a few minutes after connected. Since the update it stays connected until I turn the engine off. There doesn't seem to be any unique id/name associated with this BT update. On the final service/job report , there is an entry which says something like "bluetooth software updated"...
-
It came up to about $320 including filter, shell helix ultra etc. There were a few problems. 2 main ones were oil leaks from the engine timing cover and rear diff. Apparently the bolts weren't sealed and torque'd properly from the factory. The bluetooth is fixed with some new software update. The plastic glove box cover/door is warped. Was told Ford is engineering a new one and will do a recall for this part. Will have to wait in the meantime... The faulty ambient temp sensor (4-7 degrees off) and fuel gauge (25ltrs left when empty msg appears) weren't fixed. They "found all ok"... Argh!!! Can some relieved owner recommend a Ford dealer around the Sydney metro area who knows about and can fix these faulty ambient temp sensor and fuel gauge problems. I sure do appreciate this. But problems aside, it's a blast to drive. I took it to Orange a couple of times (to pick apples!?) and geez it made short work of the GREAT Dividing Ranges!!!

My G6ET has just ticked over 10,000 kms now. Sofar touch wood no mechanical faults. I hope they can sort out your transmission problem soon. Or maybe trade/sell it in for another one!

Welcome and congrats mate. That's a really good price and a nice colour too!
-
Congrats SpaceAce. If you have young kids, consider a brighter colour for safety. My previous bmw was black; metallic saphire they called it. Almost got T bone a few times in the middle of round-about at dusk and dawn as those (fatigue) drivers could not see the black car side on.

Looks good EgoT! The price is about right and enjoy but watchout for the local constabulary!

First of all, welcome Mish. The FG Turbo is rated at 270kw and 533nm and last year Wheels mag tested the G6E Turbo and they got 5.1/13.3. I am not sure the performance numbers for the evo, 350z, rx8, wrx etc but these numbers are very close to the bmw e90 335 twin turbo inline 6 and e90 M3 v8. And these bmws cost well over $100k. So FG Turbo sedan is one hell of a performance car for the money and it can carry 5 people and their luggages comfortablly for over large distances. The japanese performance cars mentioned above are in a different class in my opinion as the falcon sedan is much larger, roomier and heavier but I reckon it can hold it's own around corners. It's natural nemesis is obviously the Late model camira v8 but a number of large rwd cars can be thrown into the mix as well ie, bmw 5 series, mb e class etc. Personally I find the falcons steering and balance also it's best attributes along with the crazy power and torque of the turbo. The falcons steering is nicely weighted, lots of feedback, accurate and quite quick. My previous two cars; e46 323 and e90 325 defintely did not steer as well as the FG falcons. The G6E Turbo is my first ford ever so I can't really comment too much it's quality, reliability and maintanence cost except to say that sofar (almost six months) I find it a well-built, nice and quiet and comfortable cruiser but when provoke the turbo beast will leap out! It's a locally designed and built car so I think (hope) that its maintanence cost is anywhere near my prev bmws for example bmw charges $180 for a full wheel alignment and balance! I can't really help you with the falcons manual feedback as my G6ET comes standard with the ZF 6-speed auto box and a marvelous and clever box it is. However I did test drive a Late model camira Bogan special with the tremec 6-speed gearbox apparently this was the same manual tremec gearbox that was fitted to the previous falcon model BF. I felt like driving a harvester! Its shift was really bulky and heavy. But I think it needed to be strong and heavy to handle all that power and torque! Anyway good luck with your car search Mish.

When I put the foot down the turbo in my G6ET makes a high pitch whistling sound when it's on song moreso between 2k-4.8k rpm range. Abit unexpected at first but used to it now. I find it a quiet, comfortable and tidy cruiser under boost but will turn feral very quickly when provoked! IMHO this car has an insane amount of torque and power, anymore it will become a grenade! Anyway good luck with your car search TurboTom.

I agree with "rprodrive", and furthermore in my opinion, the FG turbo is no different to ANY other car including BMW which I had a couple in the past. For example, my previous e90 325 had these problems: oil consumption (1 litre top up for every 5000kms!), noisy engine, premure wear and tear on all suspension bushes, noisy brakes, faulty brake pad sensors, faulty steering lock mechanism, all sorts of iDrive gremlins, run flat tyres, plastic door panels fell off or loosed, and on and on... The XR6T, G6ET and F6 are great performance cars that don't cost an arm and 2 legs! So it really depends on your budget and taste. My wife preferred the Calais v v8 because it was easier to handle/drive as the power delivery was more progressive than the turbo. Finally, those that suffer accessory/serpentine belt rubber shavings/shearing/schredding problem. I may have a cure, check out my post: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...c=55799&hl=

Very nice Smackers. It's good to see things worked out for you mate.
-
Congrats and welcome. Haven't noticed your problems though but my car does have the fuel gauge and ambient temperature gauge problems.
-
In my opinion, as far as bang for buck is concerned it's hard to ignore the G6E Turbo. Abit of a sleeper in looks, well equipped and packs a monster punch! BTW, welcome.
-
Bad luck Smackers. These things don't happen too often I hope. Ford should give you a brand new G6ET for your trouble!

Fg Turbo: Rubber Shavings Around The Front Of The Engine.
thorxr6t replied to thorxr6t's topic in General Tech
Another symptom is "burnt rubber smell" in the cabin. Because the schredded rubbers can end up on the turbo heat shield and get cinched there.
