  1. The xr6t maybe a better fit lookwise and cheaper too..
  2. IMO, the G6ET has the all features of a granpa's chariot; large family sedan, lots of chrome, reverse sensors, camera, acres of leather, electric seat and windows, zf auto, good ride and handling, reading glasses holder etc. The only exception is that JET engine. And maybe the ipod interface thingy..
  3. The only sections I was read/looking for in the owners manual were the bluetooth as I was having problems with it and "locking fuel lid" (which doesn't exist!). I used the space saver spare once already since new (nearly 1yr now) and I did go over 80k/h to test it. Was quite stable but wouldn't recommend running it constantly over 80. If you have kids then definitely black leather.
  4. The 3-link IRS can struggle big time with the turbo torque on dry road but when there's h2o on the road it can be down right dangerous. Am not too worry about the ditch but the on-coming traffic!
  5. I think there is more than adequate power and torque in the N/A 4L I6 engine and its linear power delivery is MUCH easier to live with. My previous car; a bmw e90 325i with the bimmer 2.5 ltr inline 6 cyl engine (rated at 160 kw/250 nm) and the 6-speed zf auto, did just fine for my family (wife plus 1 young boy). And it was a hefty sedan too (nearly 1600 kg) with all the gizmo's, nav, leather and sunroof etc. IMO, the fg turbo is a "SAVAGE BEAST"! Have to be extra careful otherwise it can get you in BIG trouble. Especially on wet road, it can be hard to balance all that torque; 533 nm @ 2000 rpm. ABIT too much throttle, the beast can jump to the other side of the road in no time at all. It scared the heck out of my mrs once and that was it for her. She's a reasonably competent driver and has been driving for over 20 years but she will not drive my G6ET for any reason! My mrs does the usual daily school and woolies runs as well but in her old impreza gx only. If your heart is set on the turbo than get a decent and safe second hand car for her if you can afford it otherwise you can't go wrong with the N/A xr6 on both driveability and safety front.
  6. COngrats and enjoy!
  7. Mine looks like "top of range" plastic holder. My prev e90 bmw's was a nice leather one too but I bought the G6ET mainly because it was a large family car with a jet engine! Good value overall.
  8. Congrats and enjoy the new car.
  9. Congrats mate. It's one heck of a car. LSD and decent brakes are a must. It's a jet as is, any faster you have to inform the local air traffic controllers before you take off!!!

Go for it Shock. Sensation is a nice colour. If it's an early 08 built one, get them to fix the leaky timing cover if not already done.
  11. Start at 42k and work your way up... There is a happy number somewhere in between!
  12. Thanks. I'll give this ago. Do you have to depressurise the fuel line prior?
  13. With the fuel gauge problem, I do recall the service advisor said they took some thingamabob out and measured the spring rate and found no fault! But they missed checking for 'bent' steel float arm altogether. How do you take the 'steel float arm' out of the fuel tank? Looks like the irs has to be dropped?!

I got mine late last year and it was a floor stock (june08 built). It's white with black leather trim, not exactly a 'popular' colour combination for everyone except me! The dealer was 'very' accomodating I must say. I picked it up for just over $51k. So yes I definitely wouldn't pay more than $52k for a floor stock, but a new one for $60K in any colour/trim of your choice is not an entirely unreasonable price IMO.
  15. It seems early built cars like mine suffer oil leaks around the timing cover and sump. And my car's diff was abit leaky as well. Have not heard/read too many cars with leaky diff though but check yours before you take it for service. No problem with the steering. I suggest checking the wheel alignment just incase it's out.
  16. I am not worried about loosing petrol but sugar/salt in the fuel tank will definitely kill the engine!
  17. Got the cpc FG lockable fuel cap today. The part number is SL109ULP. They are going like hot cakes at the moment!

IMO, 60k is still good value but I reckon the sale manager can discount upto 10k. It just depends on how desperate they are but in this recession anything goes. The best times to buy are end of year (fiscal, calendar), quarter, month etc. Floor stocks are usually more negotiable.

    New On Here

Congrats. Given the state of the economy and a year of fg production, now is probably the best time to buy; both price and quality wise. The G6ET is my first ford ever and I think my blood is slowly turning blue like yours!
  20. Here is the SCA part number: SP100204 cap fuel locking cpc. It's actually $45. Thx XtRmn8. Does it (motorcraft) fit the fg model? This new one is lockable so hopefully that stops kids from having abit of fun with coffee sugar bags...
  21. Thx INASNT. After abit more research, the fuel cap is made by CPC. I spoke to a young lad at supercheapauto and got him to order in a cpc lockable fuel cap for the fg falcon. About $40 and a few days wait...
  22. Just notice that the fuel cap/flap can not be locked whether the car is locked or unlocked! Is there an OEM lockable fuel cap or an aftermarket one that fits? I read somewhere that the later built cars do have lockable fuel cover. Can this be retro fitted?
  23. Those items look really costly. I think my local bob jane tmart charges about $65 for the 4 wheel alightment, balance and rotation for my prev bmw e90! And my ford dealer charges about the same price as well. Get another quote from other suspension specialists.
  24. I wish the LSD came standard from the factory as I don't mind paying abit more for it because the 3-link IRS can be quite untidy when you give it a bootful.
  25. Had a similar problem with the BT since day one. My mb phone is a sony/ericson. Had the 15k service last week at my local ford dealer and they updated the BT software. And sofar so good. It had not dropped out yet!
