  2. Congrats and enjoy. Now there is at least 2 white G6ET in the house!
  3. I dont have that problem; but my leather hand brake is slightly worn though.
  4. Congrats on the new car! Mine is white with shadow leather but white with cashmere leather looks really good imo. 48k is a good price too.
  5. Go for the G6ET if you could stretch your budget. It's got everything bar the lockable fuel lid!
  6. That's a very good price. With only 5k on the clock it's not even run in yet! The money you would save could almost buy you a brand new fg turbo engine! The standard turbo is jet and I'd think this one will be a rocket!
  7. I bought a set of Yokohama Advan A13s a couple of months ago; $310 a shoe! So that's a good price you've got. Normally they are about $340 each. They are abit noisier than the OEM ones but grip much better. Personally I prefer more grip. I'd be lucky to get 15,000K out of these yoko tyres. I got 26k of out the OEM tyres.
  8. As it turned out, it wasn't the engine pinging/knocking but the dang turbo heat shield (the large piece) rattling at it touched the turbo from 2000rpm to 2500rpm. I ditched the turbo heat shield and no more rattling/pinging noises! Now I hope the turbo doesn't fry any rubber/plastic things near it, ie hoses, coolant overflow container etc.
  9. These grandpa cars aren't slow. Low 13s passes are outstanding!
  10. That's one nice looking car mate.
  11. Black cars are also abit more sort after in the used car market. I reckon you can command $1k or $2k extra over similar spec cars.
  12. I thought the PCM would jump in and retard the timing etc. I've been using only 98octane since new; until last month when I couldn't find any 98octane around a country town that I used 95 and discovered the problem. My G6ET was built in Jun08 and now has 27,000KM on the clock. Anyone's turbo exhibits similar problems?
  13. I dont know how they tune the cops turbos but my G6ET is (very) sensitive to petrol grade! Anything less than 98octane, it pings like no tomorrow!
  14. Very high Kms; could be an ex-chaser; check its log book. What's the price?
  15. Definitely those issues are warranty issues. Get it to a Ford dealer promptly bcause you've only 2 warranty months left!
  16. Ex cop cars are good value for money. But like the old saying; you get what you pay for! Ex-highway petrol cars are the go if you must. Stay away from ex detective cars. they really thrash and trash their cars like nothing else!
  17. Very nice mate, especially those wheels! Enjoy...
  18. New diff oil usually cures a noisy diff. Have a diff check at its next service at least.
  19. I've not heard of flat battery issue before. So an isolated one. There are a few common problems especially on early built cars (mid 2008 mostly) such as bluetooth dropping out, ambient temp sensor faulty, bent fuel gauge sender, leaky timing cover etc. They are (very) annoying. But that turbo power delivery is very addictive!
  20. Congrats and welcome Cabbie. Should be quite a few power mods around now. But the G6ET is blistering quick out of the box already. Caradvice.com.au (http://www.caradvice.com.au/44132/2009-large-car-comparison) clocked their newish G6ET at 4.97s for 0-100km sprint and 13.25s for the qtr. Those times are too quick for most grandpa's!!!
  21. The turbo I6 is plenty fast! I'd prefer a (forged aluminium) 5-link IRS rather than a new engine.
  22. Thanks for the heads-up Stevei. Time to replace mine too. It just clicked over to 22,000KM.
  23. FG is a very good platform (for the money). For a start it crashes really well; 5 star ANCAP safety rating is a great achievement. Suspension wise, forged aluminium double A-arms front suspensions with twin virtual pivots. That's something that my prev BMW E90 325i (at almost twice the money!) could only dream of... Actually every series except the x series! The rear is equipped with a compact 4-link IRS. Now add a 4L I6 DOHC turbo engine with transient overboost and a ZF 6-speed auto box with cylinder cut-out and you have a large car that can make an E92 M3 sweat in a sprint. Its ride and handling is right up there with the best. It steers and turns really well and is well balance. Simply put, the FG Falcons RWD platform is the best that Ford currently has globally! But the longer Alan Mullaly leaves the GRWD program on the shelf the worse it gets for the (2015) falcon IMO. Just imagine the FG replacement with the Mustangs suspensions; strut front, live axle rear!? or worse FWD Taurus!?
  24. Not a bad idea. But 2k is a fair bit of money though... Make sure the warranty is transferable if u get it. This will make it abit easier to sell later down the track.

    30,000 Service

Mine just ticked over 20k now. Abit of a rattle too when cold, I think it's the turbo and not the heat shield. Thanks for the heads up.
