  1. yeah that's sweet, had a look dump connects to cat and from cat to diff just get a 3 inch pipe made. nice thanks for this. some of the guys on the ford forums with raptor charges are producing 270rwkw with a 3 inch system. im not sure why I could be able to do that with a turbo at 8 psi!
  2. so from the cat back to the 2 x2.5 inch dual near the diff I just get them to make it into a 3 inch with a 3 inch high flow cat currently installed? how much would that be roughly? cat = 4 inch = 215.00 turbo catback = 50.00 postage = 100.00 max? welding charge = 50.00 that's estimated at 415.00 postage might be lower just estimating. that's the costing I had for hiddeous's setup.
  3. thanks I appreciate the good advice. I'll consider the upgrade. but not at this stage.
  4. so just fit the stock exhaust and leave the 3 inch hi flow? im onli after 260 rwkw for now based on the fact I need to upgrade the transmission before I can go newhere near the 300rwkw zone. that will keep me busy for awhile along with other suspension/handling mods. if I change the cat to a 4 inch. and fit the catback I can get for 50 bucks would this be suited? or get the full turbo back exhaust and have the bloke weld in the 4 inch into the stock setup and run it from the 3inch dump.
  5. some1 offered me a xr6 t catback for 50.00 not including postage should this be rite or save up for few more months and obtain this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180664369453&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_672wt_932 the guy has a fabricating shop, and can fabricate the dump to fit my turbo. should I keep saving n do it rite or opt for the stocker n get it tuned so the cars running right.
  6. I thought 2.5 inch was enough for the barra 6 n/a? I understand I made a mistake with the dump pipe. im trying to rectify it, its all been a big learning point for me. never understood that these cars were in need of such big exhaust systems... still amazes me. I actually first took the tuner as joke when he said it then I realised I was the joke for installing a 3inch dump pipe :(
  7. called wreckers they quoted me 350.00 for the whole exhaust off a ba turbo. is this fair?
  8. I didnt think 3 years ago I'd put a turbo on the car. any suggestions?
  9. do you suggest I should change the cat aswell? I didnt think the fg stock exhausts would fit. its a stock cooler, as im onli running under 10 pounds. the block itself cant handle I think more then that otherwise upgraded valves n a stronger bottom end id need. id be running 8 pounds.
  10. hi guys as previously posting here ive converted my xt into a turbo at home. I've got a custom 3 inch stainless steel/mildsteel dump pipe made ( cost me 350.00 ). it connects into 3 inch cat into a 2.5 inch all the way back to the diff where it separates and has 2.5 inch exits on both sides ( from the diff) ( 2 x 2.5inch outlets like a " [ " ) I've talked to my tuner who is urging me to either a) get a 5inch cat, 4inch dump pipe and a twin 2.5 inch exhaust. now I've already spent alot of money which I've told him and his suggestion is to get a 5 inch cat and a stock xr6 turbo exhaust and that should net me 280rwkw about with 8 psi. im only after 260rwkw. ive got cams stage 2 in them, soon going to fit walbro 341 255 litres fuel pump, bosch 440cc injectors ( green top ). and now im not sure how to go about the exhaust. should I just get a 2.5inch twin exhaust catback and just a 4 inch cat? or should I just get a standard exhaust and leave the cat. whats your guys suggestions ... im happy with 260rwkw because my transmission mite fail ( its an auto) any advice would be appreciated I cant sleep!!!!!!!!!! and the car needs a tune/exorcism.. its gone wacky. im pretty restricted with my funds :(
  11. Hi Guys, I know alot of people here have modified there cars. do you guys have a hard time obtaining a pink slip? is everything you do including the boy's who do conversions or buildups all engineered? just mines modified and im worried because rego's coming up.
  12. can this happen to the air breather? the one way valve ( pvc valve ) is at the back of the rocker cover. there is no one way valve on the breather which has hoses connecting to the catchcan. so just for query upon WOT... the air breather is pulling in air into the crankcase?. so if you have a venting catch can... would the rocker cover air breather still be pulling in pressure in to the crankcase? I'll check by removing the pvc tonite, I changed the pvc yesterday too. theres no smoke at all rpm ranges so hopefully not piston, I have a mate working at toyota who's going to perform the tests... I'll get back to you guys on what the results are. I also put a better rubber on the o ring of the dip stick, hasnt popped out so far.. but I haven't gone past 4000 rpm.... much appreciated for your guys responses.
  13. well its definitely learning curve, this was my first turbo conversion in my backyard. for a 22 year old that works as an office bitch I reckon I did orite installing a turbo/stage 2 cams on my falcon. yet the simplest things always confuse me sigh* who knows if it'll blow up but that's what u guys are here for ! =) Hawlass - have checked all hoses for blockage and nothing returned it to stock got some blow by in it a little bit only but the intake was very oily most likely from the vapors itself. ian -im in nsw/sydney. Turbotran - ahhh now I understand completely thanks for taking the time to clarify it further for me. I'll just use your idea and weld up a larger pipe on it and hose it to the catch can with baffle then back to the inlet. so im just really increasing the diametre of the pipe so it releases more pressure. thinks I got it... not sure how ill go with welding a pipe there.. im useful with a mig as far as fences go but ill give it a shot.... thanks for the explanation. if I had no ideas I was going to stick a 12v electric crankcase pump or something from the us and use that to vacumn the fumes and then vent it. stupid idea but luckily this one came up... once again thanks should I still check the compression of the vehicle and do leak down tests ?
  14. so refering to the picture I posted there is another breather on the back of the rocket cover?????? would you by chance have any pictures of the setup of what you've done it'd be great to get a better understanding of it as it could solve the problem. so should I do the compression test and post the results? or look into how to do a leak test which I have no clue what it is without further investigating it pictures of your setup would be great!
  15. hi Ian thankyou for the reply. I will be doing a compression test on saturday, do you have an idea what the original specs or what the compression of the cylinders should be so I can compare when I get the readings?. I've attached a pic of the xt engine of what ive done its not my engine but similiar. I havent done anything with the pvc yet. its not the exact pic.. but the front breather is the one I vented to atmosphere through a catchcan. I havent touched the pvc valve at the back yet, I thought id replace it just incase that's the problem and do a compression test and see what I come up with.
  16. nah rings, it would be blowing out smoke on all speeds, more oil consumed etc, not sure, the pvc valve rattles. onli thing I can think of is putting a bigger one or replacing the stock one, if that's not it, leave it and drive it till it dies lol not sure .. if all else fails ill do a compression test on her and see what she comes back with? do mechanics do this or can I do this test at home?
  17. Hi Guys, ive got an issue with my modded ba xt turbo. when under boost the dipstick comes out and squirts oil. I re routed the air breather on the rocket cover to a catch can and ATM its venting to atmosphere till I find the problem. The pcv valve is located on the back of the rocket cover which has a hose that goes into the intake manifold. im not sure what to do, ive cleaned out the pcv valve with wd40 so theres no sticky buildup and put it back in yet under boost ( sump pressurising ) the dipstick still comes out. im not sure whether the pcv valve is working properly or not, I have cleaned it and tested both ways by blowing in the valve and air comes out on one way which is the way it gets vacummned into the intake manifold. is there anyway I can re-route or perhaps change the pcv or something so I can decrease pressure in the crankcase?. I took the hose from the intake manifold to the pcv off, blocked it and the car shut down. I want to know what is a possible way of venting the crankcase pressure as im guessing theres too much or maybe the pcv valve is shot im not too sure. any ideas what I can do or re route? im stuck with ideas :( p.s the dipstick was pretty loose, my fathers Expensive Daewoo had a better seal on it on his dipstick then my one, its so flimsy any pressure could pop it up. O ring is in take. I might buy a new dipstick. any ideas really appreciated
  18. ehhh feel stupid for asking this guys but im puting a catch can on the rear breather the hose that's left over, if I change the cross over to an aftermarket one and can I use that hose to plumback the bov? so it plumbs back into the plenum/intake manifold? or would I have to run the pipe from the bov straight to the air intake or intercooler in order for it to work cause that would be making a long way for the hose to reach e.g from the standard cross over straght to where the battery is currently located ( where ive made an intake )
  19. hey, ok use the steel wool that you have indicated but I still dont understand what you mean about the internal/out hoses? do you mean I have to construct fabricate hoses in the catch can ? do you have any pictures to which I can go by example? sorry for this but im just trying to understand it alot better =(
  20. very descriptive reply and well appreciated thankyou. I have another question. How do I make baffles for a catch can ? do I have to construct aluminium plates with holes or something in it? or am I separating it with just some kind of steel mesh ???? any ideas how I can do this? unfortunately ive only gottsen so far as putting steel wool in it :( id rather do it right if you can give me tips on creating the baffle for the catch can
  21. hi Guys im getting some oil in my intake, possibly from stage 2 cams and turbo on a na converted T. so I need to know can I join a hose from the rear oil valve and one hose from the front oil hose into a catch can and have the other piping from the catch can gp straight into the cross over where the front oil valve was connected with. I have made a diagram and see if this is practical any advice is much appreciated thankyou
  22. hmm well if your loaded with money then yea take the suggestions.... I dont care what the ppl above say cv has crap customer service.. the worst is waiting there and coming back 3 days later and them going OHH sh*t I havent put your fuel pump in ... I'll get started on it.. week later its in.. that's a mate that took his skyline down sometime back and ive had calls to them yet no1 calls u back mate regardless they want to do the work or not. the MORE familiar u are with the tuner.. the more familiar he is with your car and u'll never be scared of going back to them from servicing/tuning/asking questions but yes once again I just think their ripoffs, I do consider ahmed to be pretty honest and a good bloke to talk to at bta motorsport. he offered a sct tune for abouts 990.00 bucks give or take 2 days for mine ( stage 2 cams and turbo'd xt ) urs shud be easier and cheaper I reckon. having a long standing relationship with a tuner is a criteria when your an enthusiast, as u want somebody that remembers you and knows your car. p.s called autotech today.. never got a call back.... apparently they try to sell u sh*t too when your down there... f*ckin hate these kinda ppl kinda like they trap u in coming n then theres nowhere to run cause your getting your car tuned there..... they mite call me tomz but.. who knows! id look around.. and call em up and have GOOD CHAT.... you can tell by who would be interested and who not..... tbh if u got the money drive down to melbourne, blue power... good to talk with, exceptional response via email and definately my mates happy with the tune he recieved and customer service. I pounded his car nicely definately worth it. =)
  23. resonators will make your car slower? straight throughs are good to go for performance... is it mild or stainless steel?
  24. .. edited this post YES they are excellent tuners and u are correct.
  25. cant u use a exedy clutches? their like 800 bucks very true on the tuner getting your power numbers..... sigh* wish I had taken mine to a good tuner last time I had it tuned :(
