  1. I don't want any battles here, but I have been led to believe that they were oil cooled. But if you say so, well you say so. That is all I do with my current car, give it WOT and then calmly drive to my destination. The timers may also negate the smartlock system, which is what would happen with my current car if I decided to waste 200 odd bucks on one.
  2. In actual fact you don't realy need to cool them down after a fwy run, cos the car runs alot cooler with all that fresh air passing through it. Driving in the city, whether it is at 40,60,70 k's will actually make the car hotter cos there is always someone in front stiffling (sp?) your air supply. And the turbos are not water cooled, they are oil cooled, meaning that when you turn her off after a spirited run the oil left in the turbo will start to glaze the insides of your housing causing premature wear. A turbo timer is not needed if you can be bothered sitting in your car for upto 30secs after the drive. If you have been giving it WOT for some time then a couple of minutes is advisable. Turbo timers are deemed a necessity only by those who sell the bloody things! And yes I currently drive a turbocharged car with out one fitted and have done so for the last 5 years, and the turbo is fine.( can't say the same for the diff though )
  3. sorry ladies and gents.. I opted for the auto ( compromise with the missus ) and in Envi green. Also getting a mesh grill fitted at the dealer here in bendigo by the dealer and the other bits that they will throw in matts, scuffs, tint etc only 3 weeks and 6 days to go!!!
  4. What options did I go for? can't think to excited and still 3.9 weeks to go!! luxo int pack side airbags sports steering wheel (not the momo ) premium brakes spare alloy and because of a nice fleet discount sat nav so basically everything a beemer has without the empty pocket feeling!!
  5. Hey all the name is Marcus. I have been following the forums for about 10 months but felt kind of outta place seeing as I didn't even own a Ford. But today all that changed cos I ordered my new T! They tell me it will be only 4 weeks till delivery, ONLY that feels like a bloody eternity to me. Hopefully I won't have the nightmares some have experienced with delivery dates. Now I just can't wait to void the factory warranty on all but the climate control..
  6. In regards to 1/4 mile times and power, there have been massive differences in the recorded power of stock xr's, upto 15% in fact as stated on the APS site. I can also testify to this, cos my old car, a 99 pulsar SSS could pull a high 14 sec qtr and yet all the stats I could find had this car doing mid to high 15's. Go figure.

Mine is my number plate, and it's on a SSS atm, but soon to be XR6T... oh yeah that sounds good! :D
  8. Lucky bastards all of you. I have to wait until the lease is up on my ovlov before I get mine. Sheesh it's going to be a long couple of months. I think white makes the car look a little smaller than it actually is. Tossing up between that and the mercury silver. :trauma: I will have to admire from a distance until then.
  9. Off the line the Manual is the quicker car. In gear acceleration is better but not very noticable. And because the car runs so little boost, there is no real lag at any speed. So the manual can be just as quick, depending on your reaction speed when changing gears. I know that the V40 T4 turbo OVLOV that my missus and I drive is slower by more than a second over the manual version. that's why we are ordering the 5 speed XR6T. After driving both all she said was, "I can see why he wants the manual". Sorry I don't have any numbers just the feeling you get when driving. The salesman told me that he and another salesman ran the CVT and manual side by side up princes hwy and the manual was quicker on all occassions.
