Need Opinion On A New Set Of Mags....
dutchie replied to dutchie's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
Thanks bud........yep bloody confusing...... What do you think though of these particular mags?? cheers -
Looking at getting a new set of mag wheels, and think the new ROH Vapor look a treat.. But after buying new tyres (Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals) I just cannot decide which mags. The tyre store (Bridgestone Frankstone) recommended these but not fully convinced, so am seeking other opinion........they are to go on an Blueprint XR6T...... Here is the link for a closer look: http://www.roh.com.au/asp/product_catalogue.asp

Cro, I have only today just purchased a set of Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals which got very high scores back in the U.S recently.......they have only just been released in OZ about 4 months ago........ At the moment they are on sale at Bridgestone and even shopping around town at diff Bridgestone outlets, I saved $110 in total on a set of 4. They are being fitted tomorrow so looking forward to it......hope this helps By the way, they are reviewed on the TireRack site I just read....... Here is the link: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/fs_fir...k_wide_oval.jsp

Same what everyone else said......(knock on wood though).......still it doesnt sound right............... I basically get no noise coming through no matter what speed........ Take it back and ask them to reseal it.....!!!
-
Well here is mine after regapping the plugs and detuning it back to 11 PSI as she was pinging and I didnt want too much power........lost a whole 1 RWKW but she runs so much better........
-
Also, will my trip computer need to be recalibrated?? In need of tyres and also need advice as to what you guys would recommend?? cheers in advance......
-
No idea at the moment...........looking at getting something for both my cars.......an XR6T and a Magna Sports......... I might then stay with the 17's if they are the same circ then a low profile 18 as you mentioned........save a few $$$$

Dutchie, WTFs doing with 161RWKW mate whats the go. Is that a miss print or was your hand brake on mate? I got 162RWKW with out the NOS, I thought a T put out around 180 to 185 stock? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NOS XR........this is from a dyno renowned as being about 20-25RWKW lower then most. Here in Melbourne, Autotechnique is known for giving a lower reading........

I dont know if I should mention this here, but after installing the CAPA Edit on my SSS Sedan, fuel (premium) dropped from 15.5 down to around 13.3 and that's giving her the odd squirt too...not hard but not easy on her either.....

Swanga, Check my sig, I did not get the full system........I simply had the Center Muff Removed with dual stainless steel pipes and exhaust tips from MagnaFlow. Add couple hot dogs and in the end she only cost around $370 as apposed to anywhere from $800 - $1500 if you opt from Cat back in S/Steel..... Apparently, (and this may apply to all T owners, but my rear muffler apparently is from an XR8...according to Dandy Exhaust Centre..... After contacting Ford, they mentioned that in some instances, if they are out of stock or short of supply, they install the larger XR8 rear muffler instead. Dandy Exhaust actually stated I was better of leaving this one on their......hows that for an honest opinion and service..... Believe it or not, this together with BMC filter gave me an additional 20 RWKS...tested this before we placed on the CAPA Edit......so we jumped from 161 RWKW to 182 RWK and then after Edit to a safe 242 RWKW's... At this stage I wont spend anymore money on her (until next month) only joking.........wife's coming in the study.........
-
I agree Geea....... Do your own research........I was thinking about Remus but then got some prices and advice from some exhaust places........ In the end, I opted for MagnaFlow and $400 cheaper and seems to be same made quality.........its a bit like choosing between Adidas and Nike....... You know Nike will cost more cause of the name but Adidas is same quality bit not as expensinve......IMO

Mario at Autotechnique in Rowville, Melbourne is doing the lot for @1275 and this includes custom tunes on all 3 maps.......... Just had mine done there and bloody amazing. Mario is a perfectionist too...... With BMC Filter, CMR, S/Steel Dual 2 1/2" pipes and hotdogs, car got 242 RWKW's.........very happy with that!!! Almost worth driving down to Melbourne for....... For those not in the know, Mario is a close friend of Simon from Nizpro and was highly recommended after speaking with Simon.

Man that pisses me off........I can feel for you cause only last week, some *beep* decided to pinch my FPV badge with a screw driver........$200 later and several cut and polisher later, luckily you cant see it anymore but I was pissed.. If caught they should have the skin pealed back and then placed in a bath full of salt !!!!! No mercy from me !!!! Time I played hard again..........
-
Top Job Ninka, I too had some minor issues but luckily, my tuner (Mario from Autotechnique in Melbourne) seems to know his stuff........ Safe driving..........
-
I got the SS Induction ones. Finish is grey and same finish as the rest of the dash.........I also painted the 3 screw caps same colour and all looks fine. Purchased at Autobarn for $95 I got the Speco gauses Boost/Vacuum and the other Electronic Oil Pressure... I painted the bulbs blue and the guages I chose were white, these look pretty good at night. Autotechnique actually installed them for $200 (2 hours work non stop) and after 5 months, I still keep looking at them..........especially when I run at 11 PSI.......... As for my oil pressure, they also run upto 100........ If you dont want to spend $$$ Speco is a good middle of the range brand and pretty accurate too.....

Much appreciated with your feedback. I took the car back to Mario and he spend another 2 hours with it and kept configuring her until he was finally happy.......he would not let me go until it felt perfect to him. He explained a lot of stuff but it is all double dutch to me !!!! He took it out for another spin, redid some more configs until he was finally happy. I lost a whole 1 RWKW doing so, but no surging and no more pinging....tried Mobile from Monday but was still pinging.......back to Optimax and cars loves it.. As for the regaping the plugs, that was my call.........I thought that with the power I was wanting, I did not need it. Although Mario did mention we need to regap them and see about injectors if they are running at max... All in all I got 241 RWKW's which I'm happy with......I suppose I was in a hurry when he first installed it......... Overall, I am now very happy with the car..(finally) WOO HOO........finally been edited........lucky I held of with the Exede.........

Thanks to for your concerns........drive her hice and easy in the rain......no way I'm going through that sh*t again........... take care and safe driving..........Steve, we will catch up bud but at the moment I have some health issues which need sorting and ny mother is also pretty ill......... Pehaps a coffee locally would be great........take care

George, What about ZEUSXR? otherwise I like ZEU5.......I just got my plates as well...should arrive anyday now........wont tell you what it is until they arrive.. Good luck in choosing........I know its difficult.........took me over 6 months until the misses pulled it out from no-where.......
-
Thanks guys........ I have already spoken with mario and he did say to bring it in anytime and he will go through it with a fine tooth comb........... Having said that, I put a fresh batch of optimax in this morning and no pinging at all today......... I do like the idea to reduce the kw's a little to stop the pinging......whats a few kws with this sort of power anyway and if in the end I save my engine that's what matters...... Thanks everyone for your quick feedback........muchly appreciated......

Thanks guys for the feedback......just some further info......... Car was dyno tuned today and I managed to get 242 RWKWs on stock injectors. Autotechnique also regapped the plugs to .9mm. At first it was down to half a tank.........so they used Octane Boost and I filed her up again...........Shell Optimax again........ Only happens once every 5-6 full pedal drops........but nothing when I gently increase pedal........ I phoned tuner and they asked to try Mobil Synergy 98........to see results....... If still occassional pinging, Mario was good enough to say to bring it back..... Hope this helps
