Hi, Im new to the forum and was hoping to get some info off the people who know xr6t's the best. My BF turbo needs replacing, I was wondering what the best way to go about it would be? I Live in Victoria. Do I buy one 2nd hand from a wreckers? Buy a new core and fix the old one? Or buy an aftermarket one? My car is just a stock daily with no plans to modify it anytime soon. Any info woule be appreciated.

My car is an ex chaser and I haven't yet had another stock turbo come even close to beating me. Ive even beat a stock BA phoon. So im convinced that they do wind up the boost on them.

I just brought an ex cop car...it may even be the one that you were speaking of only I didnt pay that much for it. And so far it seems fine goes well and doesn't seem to have any problems except the squeaky brakes but I think every BA/BF has that problem. The way I see it is that they are always maintained, anything that needs fixing would be done straight away and with good parts. Plus mine has 18 months new car warranty on it still so that's a bit of a safety net. I dont think the cops wouldn't thrash them half as much as I am going to or most of the people on this forum would do. The only time they get into it is when they chase someone and most of the time the chase is over in less than a minute. I personally think they are ok but I can see why people would want to steer clear of them too.
