  5. Cheers for that, worked a treat! ANy recommendation on some replacements? Looks like they could do with it, some regular bolts would be nice I suppose but studs are still good!
  6. Hey guys, finally got around to taking my turbo off to replace it and have come up against an issue getting it off! It doesn't have regular bolts from the exhaust it's got studs the same as the manifold/turbo ones and have managed to get the nuts off but because of the studs being in both sides I can't maneuver the turbo out, is there an easier way to get this sorted without cutting them? :S
  7. And all of a sudden the world makes sense again.....

  9. Cheers mate looks perfect! Thanks K31th I'll grab the other studs too, thanks!
  10. What studs do you guys recommend replacing the 4 that connect the turbo to the manifold with? I completely rounded one and used a nut splitter to get it off so was thinking of getting a set of these? http://gcg.com.au/turbo-parts/studs-nuts/stud-nut-kit-m10x1-5x40-4-detail Do the job?

  15. Thanks guys legends as always took the tee off then used a long socket to get the rest off and took the filter out and threw it in the bin.
  16. Cheers guys, as I'm looking to upgrade in the near future I've been trying to avoid a brand new turbo + retune There was this that caught my eye though, full rebuild with new CHRA etc. From HyperGear, seem to have a pretty good reputation? I've removed the factory screen etc. this weekend already (Lesson learned too late!) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-XR6-turbo-GT3582-turbocharger-full-rebuild-service-Made-to-last-and-perform-/200946410843?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2ec956e55b
  17. Hey guys was hoping someone could point me in the right direction with how to get mine off to check, thought I may as well seeing as how my turbo has failed and I need to look at replacing it anyway so thought I'd take the filter out etc. while I had it all apart but mine doesn't look like the one in the photo? I tried taking a few pics here: I think the piece on the far left is from my oil pressure gauge? But even beside that it looks quite a bit different. Any help would be great cheers!
  18. Bit of hunting around looks like about a $1000-1100 for a second hand/rebuilt unit, not wrong about them holding value!
  19. Yeah this is looking a bit more annoying than I first thought it would be, was trying to avoid having to replace the whole turbo as I was planning on selling this car within 6 months! Typical hey haha
  20. Ahhh yeah cheers you're probably right there, looks like I'll have a busy day tomorrow
  21. Hi all just a quick question just after ideas on an issue my BA 6T developed today, I was driving around and then accelerated and there was no boost at all, just a spinning sound coming from the turbo it sounded pretty terrible so I stopped the car and could and could hear the turbo spinning down which I found a little odd, it wasn't super loud or anything and as I was only 800m from home I started the car and took off again. On the way back it didn't happen again right away it accelerated normally, there was boost and then I turned a corner and bang, it was gone again and there was the horrible spinning sound. Any ideas? I thought maybe the bearing but there is only a small amount of play in the turbo once I pulled the pipe off etc.
  22. Haha thanks for all the feedback guys, in an ideal world I would LOVE a loud, sharp Ptschhhhhhh sound but I do not know if I can achieve that with this cooling system in place and the current level of boost (9psi), or is it still possible??
  23. Hi Guys, I'm looking for some help in achieving a certain turbo flutter shown in this video at 0:37 I really want to get the high pitched flutter achieved here if possible?? I am running a Plazmaman intercooler as seen in the pics below, if anyone can help me out and point me on the right track that would be great, cheers
  24. Massive thank you for the article!! Been having problems with the boost stuttering lately and I used your article to replace my spark plugs and the coil packs by myself, honestly couldnt of done it without you so thanks
