  1. It does get annoying that generalisation. I started concreting when I was 16 and my parents left to go to qld when I was 18, and I've been renting ever since. I've worked damn hard and saved a lot of cash to buy my F6, never had any handouts from anyone (got my first car from parents but had to buy it off them), and I got no security except from my weekly income, it pisses me off when some dickhead pulls up next to ya and says somethin about me driving my "daddys car", etc.
  2. Wondering if anyone knows if the BF Typhoon Rear Insert fits into a BA Rear Bar? Reason being I really like the look of the BA from the front but from the back it doesn't look different enough to an xr6 imo. Not really all too keen on getting a whole new bar so if it doesn't fit it'll just stay how it is.
  3. I think doing defensive driver courses and the such are a good idea, its way too easy to get your licence. I got mine after going for a 10 minute drive from vicroads, round like 4 streets and doing a 3 point turn. Far too easy. Also turbohead, are you from vic??
  4. Should have looked in the for sale section on this site...some good deals going there.
  5. I think the argument is that the L platers can drive anything if its the family car, eg dad drives a xr6t, mum doesnt drive, how do you learn? Cant do 120 hours with an instructor would cost a fortune. Should really have a car by then anyway but if you dont then what?
  6. 11.3 with 310rwkw seems like a really good time. Just realized some of the times I've been looking at for these things are manuals, that might explain a fair bit.
  7. Might be that...once these cars get going they seem to be a lot quicker I thought maybe it was traction issues having so much torque...there is a pretty fine line between bogging down and wheelspin.
  8. Mostly Expensive Daewoo V8s. Seem to run quicker times with less power. Not sure if its a weight thing, or what it is.
  9. Just looking at some of the time sheets for BA/BF turbo sixes, they seem to have a lot more power than some other makes of car, but are unable to get as quick times down the 1/4 mile. Is it a torque thing? Can;t get traction? Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this matter? Sorry for the noob question but am pretty new to both drag racing, and turbo cars lol.
  10. Wish I knew about this couple of days ago, went for a cruise to Portland with a few mates (all in their HSVs) to the 1/8th mile drags down there. Was great using less fuel than everyone on the way then beating them all when we arrived lol. Pretty damn keen on coming, see how I go for cash as only just be back at work then.
  11. Changed the tune for first time from 98 tune to 95 makes a world of difference to top end power, not so much bottom end. question is is there any advantage to using either tune? except power obviously?
  12. Now theres a good idea. Why didnt I think of that?
  13. What would be some common problems? Mine has stock clutch, stock box, stock diff with something that was upgraded in it, he said it had a stronger bolt or something?? Not quite sure. Just want to know in advance what can, and will go wrong, especially in a 300rwkw car?
  14. Oh and in relation to your link. The definition of a probationary prohibited vehicle changed on 1 July 2007. Drivers who obtained a probationary licence prior to 1 July 2007 can drive a vehicle, providing it is not prohibited as defined by both definitions below. Defined by BOTH definitions. Although this is some sort of a grey area, I have had many cops see me driving my phoon and havent been pulled over once, twice they followed me for about 10 minutes then just turned off. I honestly do believe I'm right, but if someone else can prove me wrong I would like to know, as I'm driving mine atm.
  15. Go to this page: High powered vehicle restrictions that apply if you obtained your probationary licence before 1 July 2007 | Arrive Alive And read the first paragraph. Drivers who were issued a probationary licence prior to 1 July 2007 may drive a vehicle if it is not a high powered vehicle as defined by either definition. If a vehicle is defined as high powered under one definition but not the other, it may be driven. Definition of a high powered vehicle (prior to 1 July 2007) a power to mass ratio which exceeds 125 kilowatts per tonne; or an engine capacity which exceeds 3.5 litres per tonne of the unladen mass (tare) of the motor vehicle
  16. The old P plate laws didnt have a law against turbo cars. So if you got your licence before July 07, you right to drive. Capacity to weight is 3.5 litres per tonne, so this car passed stupidly easily lol. Just to stop people driving the Gen IIIs and such I think.
  17. I think you misread what I wrote. It fails on power to weight, but passes on capacity to weight. According to the vicroads website, you only have to pass one requirement to be able to drive the car. So if it passes capacity, but fails power, its ok.
  18. Actually found out I can legally drive it as it passes capacity to weight ratio. If the car passes one (either power or capacity) to weight, but fails the other, on the old P plate laws its still legal to drive.
  19. 20 year old Concretor here...'04 Phoon as in pic and sig.
  20. This figure sound right? Car: 2004 Ba Typhoon Trans: 6 Speed Man Power: 303 rwkw Boost: ~15psi Induction: Stock Turbo: Stock, Nizpro modified wastegate. Valve Springs: Stock Exhaust: 4" Dump, 5" Cat, Twin 2.5" X-force Fuel Pump:Stock? Unsure. Intercooler: Plazmaman (not sure which, but is fkn huge..) Injectors: Upgraded, not sure to what. Tune: Nizpro Tuned to 303rwkw. This power seem right for the mods? Car has 80k kms on it, but I see other cars on here with similar or less mods making around 330-340rwkw. Guy at Nizpro recommended new intake, battery relocation and new intake plenum would see the car around 360rwkw.
  21. Lol I reckon, the guy said he was just about to empty all the vacuums!! Good timing. Seen a couple of mint BA GTs there as well.
  22. Should have started at the beginning as to why its gone in the first place. My mate was vacuuming my car for me at the local car wash when he ran it over the plastics it sucked it up. This was late at night couldn't get a hold of anyone so I thought I'll just go down to Ford and get a replacement. Went straight back to the car wash after leaving Ford, asked the guy there to open the vacuum, spent around 15 minutes pulling apart all this dust and crap, and found it!!
  23. Just went to Ford in Dandenong to see if I could get a replacement badge, the one that sits behind the gearstick with the build number on it. Guy comes back and says $585 + GST and it won't be here for a month!! wtf!?! had a look on ebay for a fake one but dont really want to do that.
  24. Took this off a post on aussiev8 If you acquired your Victorian Probationary license (P Plates) BEFORE July 1 2007 -You must have a BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) of 0.0 at all times -You may drive anything with less than 125kw/tonne and 3.5l/tonne- If the vehicle breaches both of those restrictions you may NOT drive it, however if just one restriction is breached, you may drive the car -You may drive V8, turbo & supercharged vehicles as long as they meet the restrictions above Of some interest as it says if just one restriction is breached you may drive it, obviously these cars and less than 3.5L/tonne, being a 4L with 1694kg. Can anyone clarify this?
