  1. Here is my fourth set of wheels pursuing offset for the FG! The fronts are 8.5 inch +20 and the rears are 10 inch +40. Tyres are Invo 255 and 305s though I will need to roll the rear guards. Finally I am happy with the exterior and wheels. Cheers Geoff
  2. Hi all, I'm looking for some black wheel nuts for my new wheels. The only ones that show up on ebay are for the Focus, do they fit? I also saw after a search that Mustang ones fit our Falcons. I have an FG btw. Can anyone confirm this about the mustangs or focus please? Any other suggestions too would be welcome. Cheers and thanks Geoff
  3. Hey Bud I would have had black except for the recent change of front bar. I had standard wheels painted black. The ones I had in the profile pick were Lenso something or other from Tempe Tyres, hated them with a passion and lousy quality. Sold them yonks ago.
  4. I got Nitto 245s on the front and 275s rear. Quite like them so far especially the first 5 minutes as it was like ice skating! Yep I chose the full silver but don't think I'll get spacers. Cheers Geoff
  5. Here's my new Vertini Magics. Love them but even though I had the fronts "machined" to order at plus 30 instead of the standard plus 35 they are still way too far inside the guard for my liking, bugger. Anyway still happy. Thanks for everyones' help and advice. Cheers Geoff
  6. mmm I actually like the Smurfmobile, and I've always loved TE37s. What would be the best offset for these Varrstoens on a sedan and NO stretch please? They come in 9.5 fronts and 10.5s rears. http://www.varrstoen.com.au/shop/2-2-2-wheels/2-2-2-wheels-rims cheers and thanks Geoff
  7. Thanks guys but bugger. Will have to keep looking. Cheers Geoff
  8. Hi again Has anyone tried these? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VARRSTOEN-2-2-19x8-5-10-5-5X114-TE37-Style-wheels-FORD-FALCON-F6-PURSUIT-/261102692337?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccaeee7f1&_uhb=1#ht_500wt_1204 Only clones of TE37s but always my favourite wheel. Cheers Geoff

    19" Or 20"

If you assume that most of the mass in the wheel is in the rim not the spokes, no doubt some may argue against this, then the 20s are killers for the 1/4mile so get 19s. The moment of inertia for a wheel will be that for a cylinder and all other points being equal the difference of the squares in the radius is the only difference. Therefore for 19s the radius is 9.5 and that squared is 90.25 but for 20s the radius is 10 and therefore we end up with the moment for 20s being ~10% more difficult to get going than 19s! It's about 19% for 18s. So, 19s better for performance but 20s look better. Yes the overall rolling diameter is the same depending on profile but I'm sure the mass of the wheel is the key to the problem not the tyre. All of this is from my long distant memory so may be wrong in several ways Cheers Geoff
  10. Hi again I may have decided on a wheel from the interwebs hat has the right pdc but then the website asks for "bore" they choices are 72mm and 76mm. Am I right to assume 76mm is the right choice for an FG? Cheers and thanks Geoff
  11. Thanks Jimixr, do you have any pics of yours please? Cheers Geoff BTW it's mine and its an XR8 with a G6E front. Cheers Geoff
  12. Hi all I've been set on getting some Vertini Magics for my FG but beginning to think they are over priced for what they are. I like the TSW Nurburgring wheels too but they are a little flat faced. Has anyone got the Nurburgrings at all on a sedan and would the charcoal suit a Nitro falcon like this? Again I'm thinking 20s. Fronts 8.5inch plus 25 and rears 10inch plus 38 or 40. There's an awesome Ute with these but its black and I'm not sure how they'd go with the chrome. I don't like the black and polished face version. Cheers Geoff
  13. That's the odd part I want full silver but they said they only have machined face. I'll need to check on that. Cheers Geoff
  14. Hi all Can I ask another silly question re offsets please? I just rang Ozzy and they said they machine the Vertinis to size but recommend the following as I really prefer 19s over 20s. Rears 10x19 +40 Fronts 8.5 x 19 with offset to choose anywhere from +35 down to +25 but they recommend +30. The rear seems fine but I want to make sure the fronts fill the guards nicely as I HATE the big gap in stock form. So the question is +30 for the fronts okay or should I push for the +25? With Falkan tyres the total is $2800 Cheers and thanks Geoff
  15. Thanks guys. I didn't realise 19s and 20s had the same profile. So does that mean the overall diameter of the 20s is therefore bigger? Do you think they cope with the bad roads as well. And there seem to be a few sets of second hand Vertinis going around, why are people selling them are they too heavy, fragile? Cheers and thanks Geoff
  16. Hi Guys I'm looking at upgrading my wheels but am unsure as to whether I should go 19s or 20s. I really like the Vertini Magic concaves at the moment. I like the TWS Nurburgrings too but no concave face at all :( So, the Vertinis 19s or 20s? I have the the standard 18s and had some 19s from Tempe Tyres but one broke and they of course said it was me hitting potholes of which there are many in Sydney. What do you guys think who run 20s, are they too small a profile for crappy city roads or not? The offsets are better too in the 20s. Here is my Photoshop attempt with large Vertinis Cheers Geoff
  17. Don't get me wrong, I adored Frys. My mates and I spent ages there
  18. Sorry guys I didn't do a write up as I didn't do it. The 7inch screen was bought in Las Vegas at Frys, kinda like Betta Electrical, WOW, etc. I had it installed by Fady in Parramatta at "Sounds Good" He outsourced the painting to a mate of his. I'm just lovin it. Cheers Geoff
  19. Hi all Geoff here. I love my FG XR8 but have always disliked two things, 1 lack of FI rush and 2 the rather bland interior. So, here is the first step at lifting the interior. I hated the tissue box area and think the push button start, requiring a key in the ignition, is lame (my opinion only). I had the silver spears painted black and installed a headrest monitor and DVD player. Cheers Geoff
