Three Dead After P-Plater Driver'S Car Crashes
White Knight replied to John_K's topic in General Car Talk
Being in an underpowered car can be equally as dangerous hypnodoc. When will the government realise they can change the law and suppress people's driving rights for x amount of years, the bottom line is that if there is a desire to experience it, it will only come out later on. I don't believe "the urge" settles over time for anybody thrilled by getting behind the wheel. Then there are people who will just never have any skill or common sense at all - no amount of education or training can actually teach these people if they aren't interested in learning. It's a tragic story, but what we don't need are more knee-jerk reactions by government to "fix" the problem of young (inexperienced?) driver mortality. Take country's like Germany who are willing to spend money on driver-training, and require you to understand the basic componentry of a vehicle before getting behind the wheel - you will never see that here. We should also be teaching concepts, for example, such as oversteer and understeer and sideways friction. Also, why doesn't our government spend a little money on "infrastructure" for young drivers to get their jolly's out? Because they're actually more concerned with raising revenue and justifying their jobs then they are about doing the right thing by their constituents. -
What Gauges Does Everyone Use

That's terrible, I had no idea. You can only wish people the best in situations like that. -
If there is no seal, it's essentially sucking in unfiltered atmospheric (engine bay) air or losing boost, depending on which pipe's coupling is not sealed. Just tighten her up. Not worth putting too much thought into this one IMO Hornet. Your turbo won't blow up from sucking in a little bit of atmosphere or anything. @ blackxr6turbo - before I made Fraud replace mine (as they refused to at first), I bought an 8 inch length from SuperCrudAuto for around $14. Measured the half-way point at a few points around the circumference and carefully cut it in half with a sharp blade. Then replaced both ends on my intake pipe. It fit much more snuggly then the worn factory ones and probably provided a better seal. Oh and it looked trick for the short time I had it on there.

I would dare say the majority of people who own a TRD Aurion Corzza aren't too interested in getting more out of their vehicles. On a side note, just thinking about how they don't run a separate belt for the supercharger in the TRD. Consider that serpentine belts were developed to reduce the overall load on engines, as one continuous belt doesent require as much energy to turn as many smaller belts all coming off the one crank. The reason for not including a separate belt may be as simple as a 3.5L V6 being under considerably more strain than a nice big LS or Modular V8 when turning a supercharger. I suppose we'd be in the same situation if the turbo went in one of our cars anyway Just buy the T. I don't think Camry's / Aurion's have such a cult following and you can't go on awesome cruises with thirty or fifty other T's in convoy at the same time.

I think this sums it up. Toyota has hardly proven themselves in the performance category IMO. With the exception of the 2JZ-GTE, but what have they done since (sorry that shouldn't have even been mentioned in the same post with the Aurion ).

Anybody Ever Had Their T Turn Off On Them - At 100 Km/H?
White Knight replied to White Knight's topic in General Tech
I'm sure it's an experience which I will remember for years to come tab =D Convinced it's the alternator, cos I've got a fairly new dry-cell battery in there. Might try and source another one to at least fix the light dimming issue. -
I was quoted $60 genuine. That was each if I remember correctly.

Has anybody seen the Navy Turbo Territory with chrome rims, plates "FOB.2NV" ? Hehe ... the dude driving it had a fisherman's hat and what looked like a pair of aviators and could barely see over the steering wheel! Spotted on Cowpasture Road, just past the M7.

Don't over tighten those things either, you'll crack the rubber and have to buy snazzy blue silicone ones when you find out how much Fraud replacements cost.

Anybody Ever Had Their T Turn Off On Them - At 100 Km/H?

So I was driving into work on the motorway yesterday morning and while overtaking, I put my foot down, as you do. All the way down, well around 90% anyway. A second or two later the engine roared into life and I'm doing 100 km/h - until the car turns off. Now I mean completely turns off. The speedo, tacho, fuel gauge, temperature ... all needles went flat. The stereo turned off, and the command centre was lifeless. A second later, the entire car lurched (presumably the engine twisting on it's mounts as the revolving internals re-fired it) and she sprang back to life. I think I fought the steering for a brief moment as it came back on, but I was surprised to see the car remain straight. I was doing about 85ish when I looked back down at the speedo. Naturally I backed off and took it easy the rest of the way to work, no leaking oil, no burning smell, no noises, nothing obviously wrong to panic you or immediately suggest engine damage. I suspect this is the progression of a problem with what I believe to be my alternator (the lights will dim at night upon hard acceleration, and yes I've replaced the battery). I can't help but laugh though, it scared the sh!t out of me! Strangely, I'm more curious to see if anybody else has ever had this or something similar happen to them? -
I love my ford, but ask anybody who has had enough experience with Toyota's - they'll tell you they are bulletproof. Toyota's generally are very well-built cars and believe me, can take an endless amount of punishment. Parts are however expensive, and often hard to come by. Oh, and the ceiling lining has caved in on every Toyota I've ever known anybody to own long enough. But yes. If you wan't performance, don't buy an Aurion! Consider also that a supercharger has an "always on" effect whereas the turbo will need to build boost (lag). Turbos are generally more efficient in my book. Not to say you couldn't get more power out of a supercharger, but a Toyota? Try finding after-market support for that. And in an FF platform it just wouldn't be enjoyable.

Have you read today's Herald? Apparently you can apply for exemptions, if it's a work car, registered under the business and you need to drive it for "work purposes" you just need your employer - that's you if you own the business - to fill out a stat dec and a few forms and you're on your way after paying the $29 fee. -

Dang I was looking at getting a set of Ozegauges when I modify. Any other reliable, metric, warning light customizable gauges out there? -
Why Did I Buy A Black F6?
White Knight replied to swifty_fpv's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
As for the sticky bits of bugs and tar and other crap (which really shows up on my white XR), I find a quick rinse and sponge-over on the front end really works when allowed to sit for a few minutes before getting into it does wonders to loosen it all up. Oh and use some hot water when making up your carwash suds. Then sometimes you just have to get a bit of the back of your fingernail slowly into it. Has anyone tried bug and tar wipes? -
I didn't know about these! You guys are good at making me spend money on my car ... I'm gonna do a few things to the front end first, as I think it produces the most noise. But a set of these links for the rear will definitely be on the cards.
-
Yeah the upgraded linkages are a fair whack of coin I found out. I don't honestly think you'd NEED to upgrade them, I'm going to take the approach of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Mate I had a look under mine, its only the stabiliser links that I can see connecting the sway bar make sure they are done up tight ... I hope you guys are using a torque wrench?
-
I'd get under there this weekend JC ... I got under mine the night I got the knock from mine, and everything seemed fine. I can only put my issue down to worn bushings. I suspect replacement bushings may fix the issue. Had a look at my D bushings on the stock bar and I think a replacement may fix some of that noise - so I figure why not do the whole swaybar while I'm at it?
-
Who sells upgraded swaybar linkages? I've only ever seen OE replacements ...
-
On my BF II at least, the; Front is 24mm ... ... and you made me get under the car with the verniers, the Rear is 20mm stock. Is your aftermarket rear possibly the 22mm Shauno?

On Topic - I thought you needed 19" to clear the brembos ... but in any case those 18"s are under-rated in appearance. Off Topic - I don't think anything is more embarassing than being forced off the road on your bike by an off-duty cop driving a Pulsar

At What Power Level Is A Tranz Cooler Needed In A Zf 6 Speed?
White Knight replied to tonyv's topic in Driveline Workshop
I was shocked when I did a build/price on an FG XR6T and discovered you had to option the oil cooler ... I just checked the ford website to double-check I'm not hallucinating and talking out of my a$$ and funnily you don't seem to be able to build/price an XR6 Turbo at the moment ... -
Spotted .... Red FG XR6T with the Dark Argents at 17:07 Hrs doing the formal photos at Friend Park in Wentworthville this afternoon. Nice, clean ride.

Haha ... sounds about right. -
I'm getting tempted now to put my old HID set in the falcon ... but I'm ashamed at myself at the same time!
