Does anyone here own one of these bikes? Monkey bike menace curbed for Xmas Victoria is cracking down on monkey bikes - miniature motorbikes - with tougher rules to keep them off roads and footpaths in time for Christmas. The tiny dynamos are already outlawed from roads and public paths but police find it difficult to enforce the law because they must prove the bikes have a power output greater than 200 watts. Vehicles with a 200 watt output must be registered and controlled by a licensed driver. The changes announced by the state government today remove the requirement to prove the bikes' power output. While the bikes cost peanuts compared with regular motorbikes, they can travel at up to 70kph, but cannot be registered because they do not meet Australian design standards. Unruly riders have caused alarm in the suburbs as their high-pitched machines fly along streets and footpaths. The bikes will still be able to be used on private property. The rule changes, which come into force next Wednesday, also ban the use of petrol-powered motorised scooters on roads and footpaths. Use of motorised skateboards, roller skates and roller blades will also be curbed. Motorised wheelchairs will not be affected by the changes and electric powered scooters that travel no faster than 10kph will still be allowed.

turbo6man - Unless I have misinterpreted what was stated doesn't the following mean the 1st step is to limit speedo's showing 130km/h and then limit the top speed of vehicles? Speaking on radio 3AW, Mr Bracks said the plan to peg speedometers was the first step in a campaign to impose a limit on the top speed.

Ford Australia today released pricing details of its new Falcon MkII range. "The BA Falcon has been an incredible success story for the company and the MkII update will build on that success," Marketing and Sales Vice President Bruce McDonald said. "We have incorporated a large range of customer focussed features in the Falcon MkII range, spearheaded by a new six-speed manual transmission engineered by the Ford Australia team to complement the superb driving dynamics of our XR6 Turbo and XR8 models. "Futura now boasts side airbags and power adjustable pedals and the XR6 and Fairmont Ghia feature stylish new 17-inch alloy rims." McDonald emphasised the value package of the MkII range, with the average increase across the range kept to just 0.8 per cent. "The combination of exciting locally designed and engineered product and a sharp pricing strategy will further consolidate the success of the outstanding Falcon range," he said. BA Falcon MkII recommended retail pricing:* Falcon XT sedan - $34,255 Falcon XT wagon - $36,960 Futura sedan - $38,260 Futura wagon - $40,345 Fairmont sedan - $42,965 Fairmont Ghia sedan - $51,755 Falcon XR6 sedan - $38,655 Falcon XR6 Turbo sedan - $46,350 Falcon XR8 sedan - $51,275 *Pricing excludes dealer delivery and statutory charges

Hazey, The MkII 18's are the same as current ones. I'm not a big fan of the new 17's so that was one of my first questions...

jetute - below is part of the press release from Ford's website. "The BA MkII XR6 Turbo and XR8 confirms Ford as the manufacturer providing enthusiast cars for enthusiast drivers. "Drivers will appreciate the improved performance feel, while still having a gearbox that offers tractable performance through all the gears at typical driving speeds. "Fifth gear is well suited to the 60 km/h speed limit and sixth gear pulls strongly below 100 km/h offering peace-of-mind motoring. The close ratios in the new gearbox make it easy to select the right gear for the right occasion."

Hi all, I've waited since May for the release of MkII and Im now looking to get either the XR6T or XR8 ute. Has anyone out there held off and waited for the MKII release to buy their new machine? If so what are you thinking of getting? Are any of you current owners looking at upgrading to the MkII? Not that its much of an upgrade apart from the 6spd box and a few other goodies.
-
Hope so -infact I hope all prob's are addressed seeing as though I want to buy a MkII.
-
that sux! im sure we're all guilty of giving it a squirt every so often to get infront of someone etc and you hit a speed where u could lose your licence. It doesn't make driving fun but I can understand why we shouldn't do it..

It looks like a VY that's had a front end stack.

I watched the fight at a pub in Melbourne and was sitting at the same table as Sam Soloman (Sam lost to Mundine under a very controversial decision a while back) I can tell he was loving it from the opening round...

Franky I'm in the same boat. However I've decided to wait and see what the changes are. Plus by waiting you might get a great runout deal on series I. I'd kick myself if I buy one now and series II came with a heap of goodies and wasn't a lot more expensive. Saying that whatever you decide you will still end up with a very impressive machine... that's my 2 cents!
