Yes I changed camps but Im still a follower of the T. They will break records as they already have. I sold my car not my opinion. The fog Lamps seem to be a topic of discussion but at the end of the day I had to take it back to Ford to replace it. Perhaps Im not as technically minded as some but not everyone that buys a T knows how to work on them , ask your Ford Service Crew.

Yes I did get rid of my Ute. It just seems everytime I read theres a new problem with the T's. I wish I didn't have to get rid of my ute ( Lost a lot of money ) but it appeared that everytime I got in it I found something wasn't quite right. Agreed that all cars are going to have problems ( a fault or two ) but its quite evident that Ford don't care & there problems are lengthy. I've read all the posts about good & bad Services departments. Its a lottery. Not slagging the T , but mine left a bad taste in my mouth. I think its a revolutionary car & in 3-4 years it will be a whole lot better. I will continue to follow its evolution & that of the cars within this forum. Oh & yeah my signature was off.....

ZapXR6T ... Your right. But all this with a new car ...no thanks.

Has this been done. If so it should be a regular topic on this site. If not I'll start the ball rolling....XR6T Ute Oct 03 * Interior not fitted properly - replaced but no improvement * Hard cover warpped - Replaced but no improvement * Squeaky front bar - Replaced * Loose intercooler piping - Fixed myself * Intercooler paint coming off - They all do that * Steering shudder - They all do that * Fog lamp globe blew - Replaced * Exhaust Heat shield rattle * Stalling at low revs

Get rid of it ! The build quality of these Fords is up the 5hit. On day Ford might realise but then its too late. For $40-50k you deserve better

I had the same problem , especially with AC on. I know you dont want to hear about the throttle body fix , but whilst I was doing this I noticed that all the piping for turbo , intercooler etc was loose & not properly sealed. I removed & cleaned all piping & then properly secured it back on the engine components. Plus checked all the rubber flanges for leaks. Result - No rough iddling. No stalling End Result - With this problem out of the way , and along with the many others I had , I finally decided to sell the ute. I know you've said you like the car but why should you put up with this type of build quality ? Good Luck

I've been a member on this site for 12 months now & I have read many tips to improve or fix the XR6T. For my mind there have been too many fixes but I guess having the help there is better than nothing. Anyway I have had rough idling & stalling on my T for 3 weeks now ( Oct 03 with 20k ) & on Sunday I decided to do something about it. Previously I have read a post that spoke about carbon build up in the intake to the engine thingy where there is a butterfly flap thingy. I cant quite recall what everything is called so as you can see I'm not that technically minded....however ! I pulled off the airfilter piping , the piping from the turbo into the big black thing that sits on top of the motor , & then managed to get to the intake. Whilst I was loosening the clamps on the piping from the turbo before I could do 1 rotation of the screw the piping fell off. Wasn't I surprised ! I noticed a little tiny bit of oil at the flange that connects to the turbo , but not enough to be concerned about .... I think ? Well the post was right , there was black 5hit all over the butterfly flap & the walls of the intake. I cleaned it up with a rag & took special care not to drop any crap down the intake. Put all the piping back on & tightened all the clamps properly. Not the way Ford did. I did it properly. Anyway the rough idling is gone & I can feel considerable increase in performance. There's no stalling & I am again a happy camper. I guess the reason I posted the results was 1. To show others that the rough idling might be from the carbon build up & loose piping. To help. 2. To thank the person who originally posted the fix. Thanks ! 3. And to once again complain about the build quality of my T , thanks to Ford. Never again !

Craig (GEEA) you out there ? I'd like to see Craig give the guy a run for his money <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Daniel. I'm here buddy. I'll gladly take on any LS1's or LS2's that come along. On the road in street trim I cant see myself getting beaten. There are a few twin turbo'd LS1's getting about that run slicks and can do me at the track but stick street rubber on them and all they'll see is my twin exhaust and tail lights disappearing up the road. I have pulled up next to many HSV's and SS's and most don't want to run. The ones that do wish they hadn't. I saw the Red Expensive Daewoo at Willowbank, nice sounding car. but 12.7 aint going to be enough me thinks. Geea. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that's confidence. You see that's the type of reply I wanted from the original post. I dont know your exact mods Geea but a good search on this forum & I will find them. All I'll need is 10K & Im there.

The Ute was an R8 Ls2. Manual. Brand spanka. Its funny how some people are so narrow minded ....... discussions about competitors doesn't always have to end up in arguments & slanging s@#t at people's opinions. Or is that what makes us human. Or more to the point male.

Well it was the first real run I've had since owning my T. I've had it for 6 months now and I've never had the chance to line up against anyone worth while on the street ( Very responsibly of coarse ). I roll up next to a brand new ( Only 900k's ) LS2 Ute & before I could stop , the bloke already had his window down asking me why I still had the torneau clips on the side of my ute when I've got a hard cover. I didn't entertain his question & went straigh for the " Nice car how does it travel " question to see if he was interested. His repsonse was " Lets see ". The lights went green & we've both dumped it. He's lost traction & I had him until...well...I guess you could say....the end of 1st gear. Then he's lost traction again in second but still managed to pull ahead of me. I cant even begin to explain the type of noise this thing made. It was most impressive. Don't get me wrong Im still a "T" fan but I have to admit this was a nice looking ute & had the balls to match. After I caught up with him I'd asked him if he had any mods and he is waiting on an exhaust & a chip. Cant imagine what this thing would do after that. What do we , we being XR6T's , need to do to keep up with animals like that. Who here would give an LS2 a run & come out on top. Guess then all I have to do is copy their mods , find the guy again & hope for a red light.

Its not as easy as it sounds. I had to replace one of my fog lamp bulbs & when I asked FORD to do it they said it would need to be booked in. I said I'd give it a go myself & take it from there. Well I spent the next 2 hours trying to get the lamps out ( acording to FORD they just pop off & then you unscrew the globe to replace it ) but it was not that easy. In the end I booked in for 15k service & told them it needs replacing. They did it under warrenty believe it or not.... I'd be interested to know how long it takes to get the fog lamps out if you decide to do it yourself. Maybe I'm just not that coordinated to get them out....

Well done guys , I had my first night at WSID ( or any drags ) last night & was quite impressed. As a spectator anyway. It was a bit dissapointing to hear from the soft c@#k on the loud speaker to dish the Fords everytime they lined up for a run. Think he should stick to eating his wendy's low fat smoothies. I must say it appeared that the T's struggled to get off the line but once they got going they held their own. General question - with so many other cars breaking into the low 11's what will it take for a T to break the 11's. I noticed a few sleepers out there that acheived 11's & was wondering what it would be like to get dusted by one of them on the roads ? Great Ford showing & hope to see ( and possibly meet ) you all next time.

Wat about chrome wheels , wats the best stuff to clean them with ? It a pain in the ar5e keeping them clean !
-
What about cleaning chrome wheels.....what is the most effective product that also protects the surface. I've found that soapy water just doesn't cut it. You reckon jiff would be too harsh

Thinking about modifying my ute , say phase II , but I was wondering what effect it would have on traction. It has been suggested by others ( outside of forum ) that it becomes very difficult to drive , exciting but difficult. What are some of the experiences from Ute owners & what sort of compensations can be made to alleviate this problem. Or is that what you expect when you modify a ute ???
-
Looks good but is it easily removed or are they a permenant option. That plastic stuff is the worlds slipperiest.......
-
Mt Beauty Ski Hire , left hand sde of the rode before you head up the mountain. I only hired for3 days
-
This wont help much but have you tried getting a torch in there. I've removed it but couldn't exactly tell you how I did it. I think there was part of the panel that sits behind something high up next to accelerator. I know that sounds vague..... After reading what I've just written this probably wont make sense...but have a go anyway.

Well just got back from the snow ( Falls Creek - Going off ! ) & after forking out $100 for chains I never used them. I paid extra for a new chain design which is easier fitting and better on the rims ( as far as damage is concerned ) . As I never put them on I can't comment. Fatso was never spotted. My mate got done speeding & I saw 3 others handing license's over. I set the cruise on 122km/h. It was one of the most relaxing 8 hour drives I've had I've still got my original mags on & I am planning on taking it to a tyre place to swap them over. I cant be dek@#f doing it all again. Going down again in Sept & will do the same.
-
How much did the lowering cost you ? I was quoted $800 for the same stuff , Kings & reset leaf's. Is this close ?
-
Heading down to the snow this weekend & I decide to change my mags to the original as I dont want the snow chains to ruin my chromies. So I got my jack out for the first time..........after about 15 minutes of trying to jack the ute up I was throwing expletives everywhere. The design of this jack is totally screwed up IMO ! The jack itself is Ok its the handle that caused me grief. If you dont rip your hands apart you knock the tools against your panels. Can I suggest that if you have never used it dont leave it until you get a flat. Try it now & get used to it. Anyone else had issues ???
-
Yeah there abouts. I think it was @ 6800. I thinks its easier as well as I felt the 200sx lose power where as the T fees as though it wants to keep going then all of a sudden...nothing.

Its very hard to get used to such a short REV range when it revs so quickly. Obviously I should refine my driving technique to avoid costly repairs
