  1. Oh well in that case I’ll just get them to rip the roof up right now because some people, who aren’t builders, on the inter webs who haven’t seen the locality, the climate, the final plans of the house and aren’t contributing financially said I need something. What on earth were we thinking *slaps forehead*. In all seriousness though, we’re only living here for 5 years, this isn’t our final house, it’s an investment, so there were always things we weren’t going to be that concerned with, this was one of them 🤷‍♀️
  2. Well thanks for your input Arron... I’m sure your builders licence really weighs heavily in this discussion. In actuality sisalation isn’t used very much in SA on new builds unless you have a home in a high wind zone or a bushfire zone. We opted to go with a far denser ceiling insulation and adequate roof ventilation which will cool the roof cavity overnight quicker than not. (We are near the coast and have great coastal breezes in the summer evenings) and our main issue wasn’t with over head sunlight, it’s actually the back wall of the house which cops far greater direct sunlight, which is why additional consideration went into the upper story rear elevation construction method. Our roof cavity is very small and our roof pitch is minimal, which again, meant I really wasn’t phased with any direct under roof insulation. 🤷‍♀️ Each to their own.
  3. Settle down... I know what sisalation is buddy... they did teach us that in trade school LOL. We’re not doing that... we’re doing normal in ceiling insulation, nothing directly between the tin and the frame. There was minimal value in doing it additional to the high density insulation we are putting in the ceiling cavity and walls.
  4. easy turbo lol that all goes in next LOL!
  5. Most of it’s getting rendered over... so didn’t bother too much with the colours
  6. I’m a special kind of retard I will admit LOL
  7. @k31thYou didn’t fix the vids you deleted them 🤷‍♀️
  8. So there was mass progress made on bricks today and some other exciting bits and pieces.... I thought rather than write anything I’d just post the pics I’ve taken in the last two days 😝
  9. I will do in the next house for sure, I’ve already started drawing plans LOL!
  10. Different hills LOL... our old house was still in a suburban street with neighbours etc.... and we want a huge block, middle of no where, off grid, so I can sit on my couch in front of my fireplace overlooking the landscape with no neighbours... plenty of room for a horse also 😍
  11. It’s Adelaide so it’s not bad to be fair... but our goal is to wind up in the hills away from people LOL!!! 2 houses, not one, hence the cost, we subdivided.
  12. haha... we sold our house we had on the top of a hill overlooking the hills to sink over $1mil into this place which is 5km from the centre of the cbd and 6mins from the beach. Definitely not super wealthy... just trying to make the most of it while we’re able to work our arses off so we hopefully don’t have to as much when we’re old karnts
  13. Oh well I’ve not liked people forever... but I’m still not sure what the feck you’re on about.... sounds about right considering it’s you LOL
  14. We have neighbours? we’re not meant to have neighbours?
  15. Well... no grandmas undies... but some action on site... - First fix electrical (us) almost done. - First fix plumbing almost done - Gas lines in - Chippies finished major framing, roof trusses and now just need to finish off some internal stuff. - flashings and gutters got put on - 90% of the roof was done when we left today (might be done by tomorrow morning) - brickies started yesterday woop woop... it’s been 11 weeks since the block was levelled and we’re here... pretty happy considering it’s been pouring with rain and these are two big houses with the additional difficulty of a fire wall being constructed.
  16. Thanks freakmeister... I know hahaha should be all tidied by EOW
  17. .... chippies nearly done now with roof trusses on and the plumber started today 💪
  18. Lolzzzzzzz his cars drive on building sites every day.... this is not something special. My 4wf has probably seen less dirt action than his falcooooon or clubby ever did lol
  19. Got one upstairs So today, despite the fog, we had Rhino Rails installed getting ready For the roof trusses, gutters and flashings to go on in the next few days.... got back after work to do some more sparkle stuff also. Fun Fun.
  20. So I down skilled today and instead of being Mrs PM, I spent the day being J@s electrical TA 🤣 My calves are sore, my shoulders have had a work out, but we managed to get downstairs downlighting, feature lighting and GPO’s done and a few upstairs GPOs done also.... on house 1 LOL Now to do the rest of the upstairs GPOs and lighting .... then to finish off with all data and speakers which include the provisions for: - Ceiling Bluetooth/Wifi speakers - Data points throughout - Data to our locking system which is for the proximity door strike (meaning keyless) - XL Cable provisions for a swim spa down the back also. Working out where I want down lights will be the death of me one day LOL.
  21. Pushing ahead as fast as I can crack the whip at this stage.... The Chippies have been on site for 3 weeks and almost completed bottom story, top story, front porticos and alfrescos with the roof trusses and frame work hopefully being done buy the end of this week. Given we don’t wanna waste time, lower story glass installed also last week while chippies still worked on the upper level. Greatest part is now we can stand on the upper level (by ladder at the moment) and we have an amazing view of all the CBD buildings and then the rolling hills behind, which is awesome. Taking the littlest upstairs for the first time to have a look....
  22. As to be fully expected hahahah!!!
  23. hahah I try and fast between 7pm and 4pm so I only have a 3hr eating window and the earlier the better lol.... it seems to help my overall autoimmune stuff by not using my gut for so long in a day so I’ll keep at it while it’s working lol.
  24. Dinner tonight: Roasted Chicken Breast in a Herb Crumb stuffed with Camembert and Smoked Honey Ham. Stuffed Portobello Mushroom topped with homemade Ragu and Mozarella French Onion Roast Potatoes Served with a home made Mushroom Gravy Forgot to take pics but was yum.
