  1. Cheers Nate, good to hear some positive feedback as im a virgin when it comes to modding cars... first time, first real car to(owned 4 bangers previously).
  2. Its the manual, not a fan of autos, feel less in touch with the vehicle. Nah, no drone at all kjc. The resonator is designed to take care of any drone and does a great job, especially on the highway. Even without the resonator I believe there would be little if any drone because the turbo silences most of the sound in the exhaust. Not sure if your aware of what causes drone, but from my understanding its from having too big exhaust for the application at hand... just from a forum on here somewhere. The standard setup is pretty much perfect for the stock car, minus the sound, or lack of.
  3. that's pretty piss poor... ordered mine and got here a month ahead of schedule... still short of bout 5k cash but took it anyway thanks to dear old mum gotta love em.
  4. I cant see the point in gettin mine done. narrowly misses things as it is so would be scraping all the time even I if I got it lowered the slightest bit
  5. Sorry bout the sizing of the pics, tried to resize em but just wasnt co operating with me.
  6. Heres the vid on you tube And some pics for ya Sorry bout the sound quality, was shot off my N95, ill try and get a better vid up in a few weeks once I get it in the garage. Not sure about mercury, couldnt find much on the net bout em but im happy with the product Had to run it from the 3" into collector cone to dual 2 1/4 out due to the utes exhaust setup bein a lil different from the sedan U would usually be able to see the muffler here. The existing flanges were cut off and welded straight on to the new pipes, not what I wanted but seeing as I wont be doing any more work to the car for a while its not really a problem. All up it cost me $250, if uv'e just got the sedan then it will most likely only set u back $150 (due to the fact you wont need the collector cone) depending on your location, as im out in the sticks the cost of things goes up a bit to.
  7. G'day everyone, Iv'e read a lot of things on here bout people wanting to know about removing the centre muffler on the FG's. Well I have a Xr6t Ute and just had the centre muffler removed and a 3" resonator was put in place towards the front after the mandrel bends followed with a 3" collector cone to dual 2" 1/4' outlets where the old flanges bolted on. It sounded real quiet when we first started up but after a long drive home she gained a more distinct burble at idle, and a nice throaty sound when given a bit. I haven't experienced any drone at all with the resonator. There was no noticeable gain of power but there was at least a litre/100k improvement on my fuel ec. in 300kms. Will post some pics later for anyone who wants to see em, and should be putting a video on youtube soon.
  8. well mine held on pretty well at 200 clicks... not that I was looking at that speed but it was still on when I got home.
  9. yes my ute is the same, it had next to no noise brand new but after doing a 600k trip and putting the clock just over 1k the turbo makes a definitive growl/whistle when you give it some. still not sure wat its like at WOT cos im still wearing in so cant comment there. but to me it just sounds like its sucking more air rather than there being a problem with the turbo. may also be a problem with the turbo wastegate? does it seem to lag or labor a lil on the initial punch of the throttle?
  10. A real credit to u man, good on ya. im sure most of us out there know the feeling of being pulled over for doing something wrong at one time or another... but that's a big fall, good on ya for speaking up and letting others know where they stand if they make the same move. pretty sure im only one fine away from a suspended sentence, the funny thing is ive always been done in my lancer and not my xr6t (no cruise control, doesnt feel like im going fast enough etc).
  11. The fg and ba-bf are both very different when it comes to exhausts... I havent found a bolt on from the ba-bf range that will fit and sound good on the fg, they all drone, and I mean drone! if anyone can get an fg to sound like a bf then please let me know how u did it?
  12. I'm 21, insured with aami and its only $1100 (with windscreen) a year for me... im in QLD. Suncorp, allianz etc wont touch me and just car wanted $1800.
  13. Yeah I agree, not a big fan of the non lockable fuel cover, and hard to see to the rear of the car when judging distance from things. Not to sure wat u mean by the lights not coming on or vise versa. The thing I find most annoying for me is if your key has anything else (keyring, other keys etc) attached to it, it rubs on my leg whilst drving... could probably adjust seat position but its comfy where it is.
  14. I have just under 500ks on the clock, brand new... but easily avg under 10s cruising on the highway/freeway. I heard ford run a richer mix of fuel air and a detune til the first service at 3000ks, not sure how true this is, so should be expecting better economy after that.
