    Happy Birthday dsan!

  2. Where did you hear about the Alpine unit? Any more details? Expected pricing? Does it just allow RCA inputs? This item sounds cool
  3. Alright, time for a stupid question I saw the presenter in the options booklet when I bought my T, but I didn't really know the extent of what it did. I thought it was just a plastic foldaway holder for your phone but some of the pics I saw on this post show cabling to the presenter. Is it just a holder or is it a proper handsfree kit? Does it just charge the phone or does it hook up through the sound system etc? If it is a proper handsfree, how much does it usually cost to get them from spare parts?
  4. Does anyone have any close up pics of the F6 gauge pod? The only pic I have seen is the one from the FPV website and it's too small to show any detail...
  5. I was probably going to leave the stock rear speakers (at least for now) and install my good splits in the front. Have you changed the front speakers yet? Oh, and I completely forgot about the tweeter. Has anyone had any success in swapping out the factory tweeter? I think my pair of Focals have an 85mm tweeter (3 3/8") I think I'm going to have to grit my teeth soon and pull apart my door trim (and then hope I can put it back together again :banghead:)).
  6. Has anyone had any success with installing 6.5" splits into the factory locations? When I read about people upgrading their front stage it usually means they have upgraded the existing 5x7" speakers with much better versions. I have removed a pair of 6.5" Focal Polykevlar splits from my last car (Lancer Coupe) and I would REALLY like to reinstall it in the XR6T if I can. I think the mounting depth is about 70mm. I have heard about the idea of using an MDF spacer to allow the 6.5" speakers to fit into the 5x7" hole - has anyone tried this? I haven't had a look inside the door frame yet (I'm too afraid to take the trim off when the car is still relatively new ) - does anyone have any pics of what the door interior looks like?
  7. Does anyone know how the xbox holds up to road vibrations? I can't imagine it would be too good for the HDD if you hit a bump while using it... I haven't heard any horror stories but there must be some concerns...
  8. Well, the topic says it all I have bought an Xbox, modded it and now I'm interested in fitting it in the XR6T. I've read heaps of info about how to hook it up to the screen but I've never seen any good info about where to actually mount it. Has anyone done a really neat install in their Falcons yet? I have only had my XR6T a little while so I haven't pulled off all of the boot lining to have a look around but it doesn't look like there are a lot of places to put an Xbox (at least if you want to keep the spare tyre). It doesn't look like there would be enough room under the seat either. Any ideas?
  9. I have a set of 6" Focal splits (they might be 6.5" - I can't remember now) I removed from my previous car that I intend to install in the XR6T one day. Has anyone had any success installing speakers this size? If 6x8s can fit in with little trouble, I can't imagine there would be any problems with 6" or 6.5".

    I now have a T!

I'm hoping to get some good pics in the sun this weekend. Ever since I got the car, whenever I am able to check it out it has either been overcast or dark so I haven't really seen the Mandarin it all it's glory yet, I can't wait!!!

    I now have a T!

It looks like the window controls are NOT illuminated. I think that may be a mod I'll look at doing later on... On one hand it's annoying when trying to find the right window control in the dark but on the other hand, with the climate control, I can't think of why I might need to open a window at night... oh well, something to think about...

The dual zone climate control is soooo good! I really like the auto headlights too. When it gets dark, the lights come on. When it lightens up, out they go. I love this car! :D

    I now have a T!

I picked up my Mandarin T today and I have to say: OH MY GOD, HOW GOOD IS THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!! Words can't describe how, when you put your foot down, it really digs in and drives you into the back of the seat! I've never driven anything that came even close to that feeling. I don't think it has really sunk in yet that I actually own this awsome machine sitting in my driveway, it's not a test driver or a friends car. I have been driving it pretty much non stop since I drove it out of the dealers yard at about 11:00am this morning and I'm VERY happy to say I haven't heard any clunks, knocks or whines. I don't think I'm going to sleep much tonight, my heart is still pounding from my last little "squirt"
  14. grrr, double post :D
  15. I picked mine up today as well! I haven't driven it for an hour or so now but my heart is still pounding like I'm behind the wheel! I'm never going to get to sleep tonight :D
  16. I think my boss might put it together when I call in "sick" and then turn up the next day in a Mandarin XR6T  Nah, I'll wait until Wednesday and take it easy during the final stages of the deal so I don't get conned into anything (like the bloody "full care package"). I'll get the whole day to cruise around counting how many heads I can turn
  17. Alright, it's confirmed. My T is now finished and ready to pick up tomorrow morning but I can't get get bloody time off work! I've booked in an RDO on Wednesday so I'll have to whole day to get to know my baby so I'll just have to hold out till then. It certainly is true that the last day is the hardest!
  18. Wow, is it really only 3 days to transport a T from Melbourne to Brisbane? I thought there was no way my car could get from Melbourne to Sydney before Monday but I guess it actually is possible. WOO HOO!!!
  19. I think I ordered the T on the 9th of April so I guess I'm looking at about 8 weeks waiting time. I'm pretty happy with that after reading some of the storys on this site
  20. I got a VERY welcome phone call from my dealer this afternoon and he told me that my T was at the "wholesale" stage (which he then translated to mean the car was completely finished and awaiting pickup at the factory in Melbourne) He then went on to tell me that he'll ring the dealer manager in the morning to pull some strings and call in some favours and hopefully get the car ready for me by the end of the month!!! Yay! I don't like his chances though, somehow I don't think the car will get from Melbourne to Newcastle by Monday let alone the time it will take to install the couple of dealer options and detail the car. I can dream though :D I was so damned excited, I just had to tell somebody!!! haha
  21. Well, I was a little cheap with my estimate but I was planning along the lines of, second hand xbox (it just needs to work perfectly, it can look crappy because it's going in the boot - who's gunna see it?), using the controller as the remote, maybe getting a smaller HDD, (I'll probably even have a spare 80gb by then so I'll probably use that) but $135 is worth it for the extra 40gb. It should end up about $400-500 - that's a bloody cheap way to get almost every entertainment medium you could want in a car! I cant wait
  22. The best way I have found to get an MP3 player into the T is to install a modded Xbox! There are a few people around (like aaronmihe) that are deep into installing it so it runs off the LCD. You can then upgrade the HDD and fill it up with MP3's, DivX movies, DVDs, games, all kinds of stuff. It's all tucked away neatly in the boot, never to be seen with the naked eye. All for about $400! This is very high on my list of things to do to the T (as soon as my bank account heals).
  23. Wow. It looks sooooo good! I'm glad I got that colour now! After much colour indecision, I ordered a Blood Orange T on a Friday afternoon only to have my dealer called me on Monday morning to tell me that BO had been deleted and I'd have to pick a different colour. I was pretty pissed off! I went back to square one and looked at all of the colours again but this time the sales guy brought out the little colour swatches showing the new colours like Envi and Mandarin. I must have been at the dealership for about an hour, walking around the yard looking at the different colours in the sun and the shade from every conceivable angle, trying to imagine what the colour would look like on a car. I couldn't decide so I took a gamble and went with Mandarin because it was the closest to my original colour choice. I have been wondering if I made the right choice ever since UNTIL TODAY! Wow! What a hornbag of a car!
  24. I'm in the same situation. I removed the system from my current car (a Lancer) this afternoon so I can reinstall it all in the T when I get it. It consists of a pair of Focal Polykevlar splits driven by an Audison Lrx2.150 amp and a single JL Audio 12W3D2 sub powered by a cheap Jaycar amp bridged to output 400WRMS. I would REALLY like to get as much of this stuff as possible into the T as I was very happy with the sound in the Lancer. I've read that 6/6.5" speakers are fairly easy to install in the factory 5x7" speaker locations if you make some spacers or something out of MDF so I guess I'll check it out when I have the car and hope for the best.
  25. I apologise if this question is a little lame but I just need to know: what exactly is the diff problem? When it comes to cars I'm only a *little* bit better than illiterate and I would really like to know more about the clunk/whine issues. I will (hopefully) be picking up my T in about a month so I need to keep my senses primed for a clunk when I do the test drive. I know this issue is probably better described in another thread but I feel it is important to cover it in this one as well. It would also help in revealing other people who suffer this problem and don't even know it. They will think, "hey, my car does do that! I thought it was normal...". Just my 2 cents...
