  1. thanks for the fast replys guys, assuming the coil pack is the problem should I buy these or is this not the right item? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-VDO-FORD-FALCON-BA-BF-XR6-TURBO-6CY-IGNITION-COILS-SPARK-PLUGS-FULL-SET-/280954349306?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416a2f26fa
  2. Hey all, My 02 BA xr6turbo is playing up and I was hoping someone could offer some suggestions as to what the problem may be. It is runing the generic 10psi capa tune from the old flash1 box. Only mods other than that is centre muffler removal, 3"cat back (dont know why the bloke before me didn't go the twin 2.5?) and I am runing a pod filter off the turbo . Have been meaning to get it tuned but havn't had the chance yet due to finacial reasons. In the last month I noticed the T starting to slightly miss on full boost. Over the weeks its gotten progressivly worse and now it sounds as if all cylindors are missing as its a very fast knocking sound...Simular to when traction control kicks in that sort of sound. This happens under moderate acceleration. Its not just at high revs, if I put it into 4th and boost it up it will happen. There is a large loss of power. It also often backfires and runs very rough following the backfire for about 1 minute. A friend of mine suggested the tune (he thought it sounded like it was starving fuel) but when I flash it back to standard 5psi factory tune it still has the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it may be? Thanks guys! Andy
  3. Thanks for the advice guys, and yes I know the dangers of runing generic tunes. The place at which I want to get my car tuned at charges $800 for custom tuning.. however have heard great things about them so I wish to get it done there. As I said earlyer, at the first sign of trouble ive flashed it back to standard tune. Will get a custom one soon after changing plugs. Boost is coming from boost gauge. Its reading correctly, as I have noticed a significant power decrease from when it was reading 10psi and now 7-9 depending on how it wants to go. Thanks for the help, Andy
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, Cars just clicked over 110,000km. Havn't touched the plugs. Do I need to put special ones in there (high performance ones?) or can I just take it somewhere cheap like kmart auto and ask for new spark plugs? Coil pack is standard. And actually yes, I did notice rough idle occasionly it would drop 300rpm or so. Could the plugs be responsible for the boost leak, or would that just be the backfiring problem?
  5. Gday All Havn't been on the forums for a while hope everyones well. I have an issue that I hope someone can help me with. My car is a BA mk1 xr6t auto. The problem is, its currently runing a 10psi Generic cappa tune from the old cappa flash box (I know they are sh*t but I cant afford a custom tune atm). All was fine for a while, but all off a sudden it is only boosting to 7-9psi (usually 7psi in first and jumps to around 9 after 1-2 gear change) but more, worrying, shes backing firing. Best way to describe it is exactly like traction control kicking in but when its off and on full throttle. The car stutters and jerks. I have triple checked all piping is on correctly (for a boost leak) and when the car is flashed back to standard tune, it boosts too 5-6 as it should and does not back fire at all. Only other mods is air intake (currently runing a pod off the turbo, but happens with the standard airbox still), and gutterd cat with a single 3inch cat back system) Im thinking either a problem with the tune (which is strange as I dont know if tunes could muck up from the box) or perhaps an injector is miss firing, or dirty which may explain why it happens when pushed harder on the 10psi tune. Hoping somone may have had a simular problem and can help me figure out whats wrong. Cheers, Andy
  6. yeah was wondering what tint as well. 28% or 20%?
  7. Yeah true man anything an happen I guess. I am being carful in it though, traction control hasn't been turned off yet but only time will tell. Even stock I can see its got enough power to do some damage
  8. ^ haha ouch
  9. Yeah im being very carful with her Insurence is a bitch, only company that would do it was just car and I have excesses of: Standard: $500 Vehicle: $2000 Under 21: $600 So if I crash it $3100 in excesses ontop of the $2,250 im paying for fullcomp on it so pretty nasty. Will drop down in 9months once im 21 though
  10. Haha yep they sure do! I beat a vz ss at the lights yesturday its great fun! Thought I might add, this is my second car, drove a black manual VT 'S' from when I was 18 untill I got this (im 20 now). Wasn't a bad first car, had the usual young peoples mods (exhaust, cai, lowerd on ssl, vy ss rims) looked quite nice. But the T is such a step ahead. The power (even of it stock) is awesome for a six. Have 9 months left of my P's and im in victoria so im just going to lay low untill then. Not going to do silly things like doughies and big burnouts like I did in the commodore. This car definantly deserves respect, not to mention such activities would attract the unwanted law enforcment attention that im not after. In terms of mods, untill im off my P's I just plan to edit and custom tune it. A bit worried about the gearbox as its the 4-speed auto (at least its better than the 5 speed manual so ive heard) but ive been told in most cases just an edit and tune should be okay as long as I dont thrash it. Will probably get a tranny cooler as well (are they worth the money?) When I was younger and went on a few of the cruises (as a passenger), theres a few people I remember, craig (geea) and mr turbo (rob), too name a couple but I really dont know anyone these days as I havn't been hanging around on the forums much in the last 3 years. Would be fantastic too go on a cruise with some of the melbourne boys (and girls!) and meet a few people sometime. Love the car in every way shape and form other than the petrol consumption. Averages 17L/100km but im guessing that will go down as my right foot gets lighter. Its just so hard to resist!
  11. haha hey everyone! only just read this thread. After 5-6 years of wanting a T finanlly bought one 2 weeks ago. Wanted a BF but couldn't afford it so ended up going with the plainest/cheapest possible option. Its a 02 blueprint 87,000km on the clock and in fairly good nick. Shes plain, no leather or anything but I love it. Wasn't active much the last 3 years on the forum but still checked it from time to time. Now that I have one im guessing I will start posting a lot more. Hope everyones been well. Also ive had no more dreams unfortantly. Funny how the older you get the better the dreams become Andy
  12. latest wheels mag F6= 0-100 in 5.2 and 1/4 in 13.3.... what a crock of sh*t considering the previous times of the fg's

mickq, the driver of the evo was 23, his quite well known around this area. I dont belive he was on his P's..and im pretty sure of this as a mate of mine is good friend with him.. The driver of the other car ellegedly racing, the RX7, was on his P's. The media may have had this confused

Well there's ya problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ← I never said there wasn't a problem. what is it with people here and taking words out of context. It was a response to a comment indicatiing that the driver could have been doing 160kmph. Of corse there was a fuking problem, that's why somone was killed. Im regreting starting this thread..the point was that this could happen to anyone on the roads, and it was meant as a reminder, not to argue about the skills of young drivers and how they are all so dangerous ect.

If he hit at 120kph, what was he doing prior? 160kph?? In an 80 zone???? ← No. The the maximun speed reached was that of impact. Having spoken to somone in that car the driver did not brake, but tried to steer around wen the taxi come in frount..it was over in a matter of seconds. There are no skid marks at the scene. Also I'll add the driver of the car was not a Plater. Was 23 years old... It doesn't change anything but I thought I might add that seeing as people are bringing up P plater issues

sorry again man I just re-read my post I shouldn't have said some things I said..your right. that's interesting I didn't know that, but its already been established that the car hit at 120kmph. I guess the reason I started this thread was not too defend the driver at all, but just to remind people of the dangers (which is completely hypocritical as I am one that always loved hooning as such)

Built up area, Yep we understand............ Like Tab said... Best way to learn is to buy a motorbike... You get cars pull out on you almost daily.. You live to expect the idiot factor..... Called experience actually.. But thanks for sharing this with us.. I am sure it has made everyone here think a little bit harder. ← Blonk at that time of night it isn't a built up mate.. Not everything is as simple as the media makes it..remember most people on this forum have only heard whats been on the news and paper, of corse the media are going to jump on any story like this and make the drivers seem the absolute scum of the earth. At the time of night this happend there is usually 1 or 2 cars at the lights...these were the only two cars on that stretch of road at this time. Once again im not trying to make excuses but I want people to get this sterotype 'young driver, inexperience, draggin in built up area" sh*t out of there head. every crash is different and the circumstances may ahve been the same even if it was a very experienced driver, we just dont know so I would appreciate it if ppl would stop steriotyping this. I do apologise if ive made anyone angry by this, everyone is entittled to to there opionion. And im not having a go at you Blonk either. Aniken that is a very good point, I realise that and I guess we'll never know

Thanks for the reply's, appreciate them. I just want to add, that the driver of this vechle was not taking any corners fast or drifting or anything of the sort. It was simply driving fast (that's why I mention the word speed). He was on a main road and a taxi crossed the road turning right. So if the car was traveling at 80kmph would this have happend? while everyone will most likely say it could have been prevented..no one really knows. The taxi driver may still have pulled out and not seen the car. I agree with what everyone has said, but I also want people to think carfully before saying 'ohh he was young and driving beyond his capabilities"...as I said previously the car wasn't being spun around or fishtailed it was simply just driving fast...and altimatly it WAS the taxi driver who was meant to give way as it was crossing a main road. But I am not trying to defend what happend in anyway the driver sped, and this resulted in the death of a young person. But I just hope people know the full circomestances before posting 'driver innability' as the main cause. Who knows even if it was a 50yr man with plenty of experience was doing that speed at that time, the taxi still would have pulled out (yes, possibly could have cleared the car,but maybe not) that's the point im trying to say but again I am not making any excuses..I just hope people can think about the situation before jumping to the usual conclusion.

Evil F6 this wasn't meant as a sympathy post...I understand the circome stances and I know that the driver of the cars were altimantly responsible for this..as well as lack of experience ect.. I just thought I would share how this effected me. As somone mentioned above I am young, and havn't expereinced somthing like this before. Im sorry to anyone that may have lost mates or family members in simular cercome stances. I agree the media certainly arnt doing any favours to general responsible motor enthusiests, and its not fair the way they jump on situations like this and give all drivers of fast cars a bad name.

I want to start this post by saying I am a complete hypocrite for writing this but my life has changed after an incident on the weekend. Last saturday night at around 9 oclock pm my brother asked if I wanted to go for a drive to jells park for a walk as we often do. We jumped in the car and drove up the street to the intersection of strada cresent and f'tree gully road in wheelers hill. As my brother went to turn right onto f'tree gully, we noticed the road completely closed off and was redirect straight by a police officer. As we drove past we looked up the f'tree gully road and saw what appeard to be a at least 15 of 20 flashing lights (emergency vechles). Being the nosy people that we are we decided to take the back roads and see what was going on. As we turned right from a backroad onto viewmount road what I saw I will never forget. A smashed up mitsubushi evolution on the side of the road and a body on the ground with paramedics working firecy on it. I hoped out of the car and walked closer. This is when things really started. As I approach the already gathering crowed of people, I begin to see many familyer faces..people that I knew quite well. I then saw the rest of the carnige, a smashed up taxi and a P plate RX7 that I had seen around the area regulary. I saw a friend of mine (in many of my classes at school) talking to a police officer who was writing somthing down. Two people where still trapped in the back off the evo. I asked a friend what had happend and he said somone had died. I left at this stage and went home. The boy that was killed was a person from around the area. I was not personally friends with him but had seen him on a few occasions. Many of my mates knew him well. 2 other people which are also good mates of friends are in a criticle condition. I can honestly say that this experience has completely changed my views of speeding. Being 2months away from geting my P's I have been all huped up about geting behind the wheel, cruising around with loud music and mates and u know just doing what boys do. All those talks we had with police at school never clicked in..no matter how many times they said "or it could be you or one of your friends" it was always just shrugged off...as if somthing like this could happen in little wheelers hill where nothing ever does. The reason ive written this is due to the fact that ive seen the way it CAN happen to you. Going to school the last two days, driving past the scene where flowers and photo's lay of somone who lived just streets away makes me see how dangerous cars can be. Please next time anyone is at the lights and decides to give it a quick 'squit' rethink or at least be carful. This is all it was for a carload of young people (two which went to my school last year). This one 'squit' ended up killing a mate of many, 15, who had a whole life ahead of him..as well as leaving others criticly injured with injuries they'll probably never recover from. Im sad myself that its taken the death of somone to make me realise how stupid speeding really is. Ive been in cars that have travelled way over the limit, as im sure many people have, and have never really thought deeply about the consiquences. 120kmph in an 80 zone is fast, but not close to some of the speeds that many of us have probably driven at. Stating the obvious here, but noone could ever suspect a taxi to pull out onto a main road without taking in the suroundings but it happend..and the impact of a car hiting another at 120kmph is mind blowing. This experience has definatnly changed my thoughts of speeding, and I jsut really hope it doesnt take somthing like this to happen to anyone reading this for them to realise how stupid it is. Lifes way to precious to loose for a little bit of an adreniline rush. sorry about the spelling errors, ill change them later
  21. some great stuff there rob, thanks for sharing those!
  22. why would they bother
  23. fuken wankers..you should go and see if there was any sort of survalience cameras operating in the carpark. If so that could be a start in tracking the c*unt down..he may be a local. Sorry to see that.
  24. haha that's funy as f*ck
  25. sorry to hear that rob, good luck with geting her back on the road
