Thinking of heading out to willowbank to see what kind of time I can put down in my fg xr6t. Has been tuned with 275 rwkw but suffers badly from heat soak atm with stock intercooler. Normally I have to cruise around at light throttle for several minutes to cool it down enough to get any decent power. Was thinking about letting it rest for a half hour or so when I get there to cool it down but worried about giving it the nuts if engine temp is not high enough. Is there enough heat in the engine after an hour or so to prevent damaging anything? Or will giving it heaps of revs before I take off clear out the hot air from the cooler? I am new to turbo cars and any advice would be appreciated. I must beat my mates ss ute no matter what and dont want to lose races cos my car isnt making power from the heat

Got the ss cold air, f6 injectors and tune the other day. Running 14psi throughout most the rev range. Power stock was 234rwkw and after mods was 276rwkw. Tuner said the intercooler seems to be the main limiting factor. Was really happy with the power that night at around 16 degrees cool temp but through the day the power just is not there at all. Process west intercooler stage 2 in about a month and see what happens there. Will be really happy to achieve 300rwkw and better consistency during the day

Have searched the forums as much as I have had time to but can't find an answer. Was wondering what the general thought was for a safe amount of boost for my fg xr6t. have got it booked in for tune, injectors and cold air and was told boost would be around 15 psi. Does that sound about right?

Yep got it on tuesday.love it. Did the window tinting straight away and finally got around to doing paint and interior protection today in some spare time. Have been giving it heaps from the get go and power is not dissapointing at all.Love the sound of the turbo spooling up and have been putting my foot down everywhere just to hear it. doing my best to put on the kays so I can get it serviced then tuned straight away. Just going for cai tune and injectors and see where it's at then decide if I want to take it further. Was tempted to take it to willowbank with just 150 kays on the clock but ended up being busy so maybe next week.

COOL!!!!! Pick up my new fg turbo ute in ego with luxury pack on tuesday! Cannot wait . After nearly 3 months I finally get to drive the new beast. The dealer lent me a na xr6 with the 6spd auto and I can say not once have I missed the gts while I have had use of that car. Good handling and surprising amount of go for a na6. Still prefer a manual though.

If there are any fg xr6t owners PLEASE reply to this thread. This is doing my head in. I live in brisbane and need to find someone who has tuned one of these cars to around 300rwkw. I have spoken to a heap of tuners and have gotten quotes from 3k to 8k to achieve my goals. Most the tuners are vague when asked about other customers cars and results achieved. Most say 270rwkw is easy for around 2k but then another 4k-5k for another 30kw? Everyone I have talked to give me completely different answers on what to do. If you have a fg xr6t with over 280rwkw I would love to hear from you. I have no experience with turbos and am not in a position to determine who is just making a grab for my cash and who is on the level. Oh yeah in my opening post I mentioned that the third option was the one I was leaning towards. well rang them today with a quick question and they're like "oh no if you want 300rwkw then you need intercooler and full exhaust etc etc" so that will be $8500 thanks very much. wtf. wtf.!

Am picking up my fg manual ute in a week or so and will be modding it after 2 or 3 thousand kays. Target is 300rwkw. talked to three performance shops and got three different answers. 1st place reckons air box mod, tune and intercooler, no injectors or dump pipe for around 4k. Second place reckons full exhaust($2300) air box mod and tune with no injectors also around 4k. Third place says air box mod, dump pipe, f6 injectors and tune for around $3500. All these places have good names so what's the go? I think 300rwkw is pretty attainable without too much of a drama and I am confused that there is such a big difference in the way they go about doing it. The dump pipe and injector idea is the one I am leaning towards

Hey egot, awesome choice of car dude, ego was my first choice as well. I see you are getting your tint done in 20%. I know a place that does an 18% that looks like it was made just to compliment the ego colour. Could be worth a look, not too far from the goldy.

I didn't get a maloo because they are about 25k dearer than a xr6 turbo and it is pretty much what I have already. A turbo is something completely different which I can get to know and love all over again. I had a vz maloo that I spent a lot of money on- stereo, sunroof ,remote start and expensive exhaust and chip etc. Still only managed a 13.6 1/4 mile on stock rims etc. Hopefully with only a couple of grand worth of mods on the turbo will get into the 12's. Plus the way I am expecting the turbo to perform will be a lot more fun and a bit more of a handful when the boost comes on. I've had a lot of modified v8s in my time , toranas and commodores mostly but never even driven a decent turbo. Just something new.

Hopefully pick it up early august. Can't wait!

Hi all, first time post and to be honest a bit of a surprise for me. I have decided that my 07 ve gts has to go in favour of a ute and picked up the phone to ring my local Expensive Daewoo dealer when a thought crossed my mind. How will I feel driving a ve ss ute compared to my gts? Won't it be just a big step backwards in terms of power, handling and the interior? So then it occured to me that there are two brands of aussie ute and one has a turbo! COOL! So the local ford bloke came to my work in a black xr6t ute with luxury pack to show me, offered a stupidly low trade for my gts(which I accepted) and asked me if I wanted a test drive. No I said , I just want one anyway. The misses has a ve sv6 so if I want to drive a Expensive Daewoo that's not much different to a ss anyway. When I get my fg turbo that will be the first ford I've driven on a public road in about 10 years. REALLY can't wait. Straight in to get lowered and then power upgrade after first service.
