  1. I'm a beliver that the ford pcm is far superior than most of the aftermarket ecu's out there & as far as scaling a 3, 3.5 & 4 bar map sensor yes that can be done through the sct software not as perfect as a built in map sensor in an aftermarket ecu but its doable, when we do our Barra conversion in E series & the AU's we rewire the engine using the B series harnes & the DBW throtle, also we rewire the old BTR 4 speed so then we can control the auto with the B series ecu then we have total control over the engine & gear box & have the cruise control to work as well !!! ..... tell me what ecu can do all that for $100 as that's what I'm buying them from my local wrecker trans brake did you say, pick up a supply from the convertor pressure & redirect it into the box to lock up to packs through a solinode & a horn switch to operate it, a cheap & effective solution cheers Joe
  2. Rob Herrod / Herrod Motorsport concentrates most of his time in the development of new products for our fords, wether its for the xr6 turbo's or the new 5.0 ltrs that's what you'll find him doing, as far as runs on the boad that's something you'll never find him worrying about that..... for starters there back ground in motorsports is basically setting up circuit cars, not that they cant set up a drag car but again its not there line of work, secondly he has to maintane TEC & IT support with all of his SCT tuners in Australia & overseas, plus his constant liaison with SCT in the States... Herrod tune there customers cars with saftey & reliability not on a knife edge & definatly not into giving glorified power figures, one thing is that, that car will always be perfect & just because he isn't present on this forum it dosn't mean he dosn't know whats going on Theres only a very small hand full of ppl in this industry that I have full repect for & he is one of them !!! joe
  3. can you exactly pin point the ticking sound ??
  4. why do you need these tables your tuner should have them ??
  5. go back to your tuner & tell him to go back into the turbo scales & put a 0 instead if 1 in the boost multipier table, on the left side of the table it will show 0 count & on the right it will also show a mulipier of 0 depending on what this is BA BF FG ?? the lower 2 numbers on that table dont need to be changed... if your still not sure I can take a snap shot of that table & pm it to you tommorw when I'm back at work cheers Joe
  6. has this only started after its being tunned ??
  7. we got 407 rwkw & over 1500nm of rolla torque
  8. Vince is a great tuner & is one of the best when it comes to what he dose but he always perfers laptop tuning & when it comes to Fords & using the factory ECU there is nothing better than the SCT/Sniper/HP software unless you are going for a 8 sec pass then that's a different story....why would you want to by pass the factories saftey feature & not having the ability to control boost in closed loop or play with cam timing like the factory unit does ?? that's my opinion !! Joe
  9. I've always maintained that's the farts need to be there !! its a time thing, it enables the oil to disengage & engage componets in a calculated window..... closing that window over a period of time (this is only @ WOT aplications) will cause damage of some sort...... halving the farts is the safest bet & unless someone has concrete proof that getting rid of them make you go faster then I'll belive it. cheers Joe
  10. both of those places are extreemly good but if you want the best of the best IMO Bosnjac Engineering in Wetherill Park speek to David, straight foward advice !! joe
  11. thanks Dan disregard the boost doward spike this was due to the OBD logging but the reason the boost is all over like that was I tuned it in close loop so the ECU was making changers in milisecons controling the boost & timing to what I wanted to achive & when you look at it, its not much over std boost levels... Keeping boost level down also keeps inlet tems down so this car even on a 35 degree day will see almost the same power level, this also maintains longevity in that small turbo, unlike what we've seen from other tuned cars !!
  12. to make it handle power you need to make it shift cleaner or firmer, as you want clutchers to engage & dis-enagage quickly & that's where the feel comes from plus it dosnt heat the box up as much..... sloppy or slow changers create heat, heat kills box's
  13. sorry I dont send auto trans files its a recipie for disaster all of my auto adjustments is done on the road not the dyno its the only way to get an exact road feel.. thanks Joe
  14. You can use the software to target specific areas for improvment without having to ajdust solinodes, regular servicing & a good cooler dose help.... We are now a dealer for Preston Automatics from Vic which have several 9 sec BA's with BTR 4 speeds in them !! & it also comes down to how your tuner set the pressures as well, just like the ZF's if there set incorrect & you dont get on it quick enough damage is done we use Preston Automatic for the 4 speeds TCE for our convertors & we build ZF's inhouse now.. thanks Joe
  15. Hi Essgee & thanks for your call the problem is once a box starts to slip & depending on how long you let it go for then the damage is done !!... if the steels get hot spotted just like a flywheel with a manual clutch the next time you give it a hard time the friction can not get a full contact on the metal plate then they start to warp, adding a cooler after the fact is like saying what about if I replace the oil in it every week & drive it sedately, & yeah it may prolong it if you do drive it sedately but we dont !! that why I say take it back & get all of the ZF & normal trans changes reverted back to std & drive it for a week the megatronic will relearn & if your lucky enough, you could have saved your box but if it still slips & flairs its to late. we are build a ZF from a customer from Queensland I'll take pics of what stuffed fiction & steels look like thanks joe
  16. seems that some ppl have mis interpted my comments regarding my dyno cooler comparison ...!! I mealy was stating the temp difference with 3 cars, 2 of them being almost idenical with hardware also when we did the ute we used Alex's cooler which we never had any issues with it as the temps was the main concern running that much boost !!! we also use Rapid's coolers which we've found to be better than some of the other's that are on the market aswell.. & if a tuner dosn't have 8 sec cars does that make them less experiance in there field ?? So if Dick Johnson's old RS cosworth cheif mechanic started a w/shop in sydney next to a popular Performance Ford tuning shop & he dosnt have any 8 sec cars would you not think he's capable or experianced enough....???? joe
  17. yep, its going in Street Fords, he had as you say 2 coolers with him but there is also another one which is in that list....... Very intresting but not suprising outcome... Simon @ nizpro know's how to design & build products.
  18. hate to throw a spanna in the works guys but I did a couple of plazmaman fitted cars last week both had 35/40 turbos both had 12psi actators & both had flapper ports done with both having 4'' exhaust on them & on one of them at the start of the run the inlet temp was 27'c & finished at 42'c on a 8.9 sec power run, ambient temp was 25'c the second one started at 33'c & finished at 49'c then we did a BF with a nizpro cooler on a 30'c ambient day we saw 33'c inlet temp & finished with 39'c at the end of a run when we did Ricky's 600rwkw it was with a plazmaman cooler.... who knows maybe there using different cores for these last batches ??? joe
  19. well this is not true to an extent...it all depends on how the shafts are treated from factory as you are aware that the gear box componets ony have to meet a certain power level & not to the extreems that there made to go..... so treating these shafts will always make them better, how much better will depend on how well they are from there original treatment.. Ricky dos'nt have harden shafts the input & intermediate shafts are still factory.... its all in the settings
  20. just to add to this Ricky dos'nt have the ZF changes at the time when I was tuning it, the stategy wasn't avaible & the only reason he snaped his intermediate shaft was that we went to a 3.45 diff ratio from his std ratio & indoing that ricky explored a new level of fun doing power slides in 6 gear which when changing the ratio moved his power band further through up through the gears... & I will not use the ZF option with Ricky's box...there's a few ppl here know my thoughts on this !! Matt's reason was that the box developed a hicup from 3rd back to 2nd then back to 3rd on WOT & this happend within miliseconds, the car had my tune but not my ZF changes & just recently this other failure happen from a stand still going into second.. we are cryoing & shot peining the shaft for this install but I'm hoping that he takes my advice & not worry about the ZF tuning...
  21. watched it live yesterday avo as its looked bad he didnt move from the accident it was when colin hit him & his helmet came off..there was about 30min wait when the officials canced the race the crowd started to boo & carry on like proper nobs.....but the announcer didnt explain to the crowd what was going on which made it worse ..... I emailed to motogp last night this letter..... watching the GP tonight & seeing the accident unfold, & watching the body language of one of the officials unfortunatly the worst case could ever posible happen, did...I\'m just a fan that loves his sport & been involved in motorsport my self, as one of the comintators mention on the track were all out to win !!. but in the paddocks were all family.... condolances to the Simoncelli family & the Honda team & I\'m sure that most Aussies send the same thoughts.... regards Joe -- Customer Support mail@motogp.com I know what its like as I've had a close friend that had a bad accident on the old Amaroo Park track...
  22. ok if you are on a budget the egas FG is perfect better rods & pistons than the n/a version, & on e85 or caltex flex there will be no issue with tuning....... with the right combo as we did one we've taken one well over to 350rwkw & runs perfectly also having more comp has more low down torque whitch feels like a worked v8................. its all in the tune cheers joe
