the funny thing is there are claims of totaly stock FG's making XYZ rwkw but yet when I get them for a retune there know where near the mark & std injectors going to 270 rwkw, yep sure @ 100 duty from 4500rpm from some that I've seen.... please !! as Ratter mentioned there's to many variables & a good tuner will advise you what you can or cant get away with & its not always about adding more boost joe

why up ??

you'd be supprise in how much air flows underneath, plus I've had no complaints with any gear box overheating issues even after events like power play/cruise where most of the time your hard on the throttle, we have a customer that only dose circuit work & he is coming in to get a cooler fitted we will be monitoring that one & seeing how it performs after each session, in he's case he has the same ventalation to the front brakes as the bute utes do through the fog lights... but we will see..

just on a quick note when your servicing your ZF try to use genuine ZF filters, as we've had a few coincidently after there've being serviced else where, ppl were experiencing a delay when selecting D cold morning starts.... what we've found in these cases is that the aftermarket filter is slightly shorter in the snout when pushed up in the pump suction & then the filter hangs & moves down slightly, well the sump actualy holds the filter in place when you take of the origonlal filter you will see 3 witness marks but not with the aftermarket ones.. just something to look out for. cheers Joe

it seems that the united e85 in long turm use dose effect the id 2000's, even thought there compatable with ethonal, we've already changed a few & the failure is not from contamination as that's the first thing that's checked, also speaking to GAS motorsport & PAC racing who used to use these in there everday cutomer's cars have moved away from them... at this stage the id 1000's havent been an issue but since we've moved to the black ops so far all have been ok. joe

Xr6T Plenum/intake Manifold The Best Way To Go?
joe@cms replied to xyxr6turbo's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
all the above plenums give great results & value for money but the one that stood out for me was the Hyper tune not the cheapest but very impressed with the final resualts joe -

also veva has a A1000 pump slighty better than one 044 plus the good thing about the mainline is, I use the OBD & log everything I need, injector pw & voltage which given its a BA engine I just want to be safe... regarding the dyno I dont know about hard I'd say more ohnest, as the black dyno (track times) backs it up.. cheers Joe

Process West Or Fg Manifold Conversion?
joe@cms replied to GTEXXED's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
the FG factory inlet manifold is good for up to 600+ rwkw we've done it a few times, but if you want the bling factor & yes they do work very well take a look at the hyer-tune totaly redesign short runners with I think velosity tubes inside good power with less boost... joe -
condos to all involved who would of though that a late modle & almost 2 ton family car would see these numbers.. well done guys.. Joe

see my sponcers section on head porting !! thanks joe

it could be an intermittent fault with cam solenoid, connectors, corroded terminals ??? the ecu monitors a voltage & if it falls out of a set range it actiavates a fault code.. do all of the easy stuff first........ check conectors both in the plug & cam solenoid spray with something like crc terminal cleaner then see how you go..

regarding valve springs we can get, Atomic, Rapid & Plazmaman with in 30min of a phone..... call basicly we get them as we need then & in all cases have not had any issue with any of these brands but its not to say that you will never have a problem with one or the other, that's just our experiance with them. Being a BF we've seen around 350ish rwkw but it was a young engine so the age of the springs on your motor needs to be concidered. if you need a set shoot me an email & I can have a set for you.. cheers Joe

if everything was good prior mods & your've replaced injectors IMO the scales are not right look at trims & instant L/H on the dash, if its to low you'll get a lean mis-fire, slight popping in the exhaust at idle, this could also be plug gaps if there to close or bigger exhuast pipe, you really need to listen to the note... but fuel trims is where I'd start joe
-
that's a huge variation to be honest I've never seen that sort of timing @ idle, is there something else happening that the ecu is over compinsating for ??? & dont forget that idle can be effected buy the cams so logging is the only way to find things...... also even a weaping inlet manifod gasket will give you greef
-
IMO, its got to do with the fuel trims, we did some liquid sequensial injection fit ups on FG's we found & ''not all of them did it'', that the ECU ran the mixtures lean at idle which the LGI injectors emulated the duty cylce of the petrol injector & the problem transferred it self when on lpg... with testing using live data & talking to obital gas systems in sydney found that there testing concered with what we found...... & buy pulling timing out, sure will mask it but your not hitting the root of the problem, once you decide to get it tuned, your tuner of choice will have the ability to rectify it as he can play with the scales, joe

Any Aftermarket Ecu's That Will Run The Xr6T Yet?
joe@cms replied to zzz-ba ute's topic in ECU Workshop
intresting & yes the ford engineer would be pulling his hair out, but when I was told that I cant do the same on a AU s11 with the std map cuting boost out at 3 psi then worked out the scaling at the point that I wanted to see, was then able to use the SCT software to provide upto 14psi boost not that I wanted it & it provided acuate fuel & spark from logging, well to say I was happy that It could be done was an understatment, but now days what we do is wire up an Bseries map if we need to go further, I'm just a mechanic that's inquisitive & makes mistakes like everyone else.. -
Any Aftermarket Ecu's That Will Run The Xr6T Yet?
joe@cms replied to zzz-ba ute's topic in ECU Workshop
with out a dout its up the tuner & what he feels confortable with & your right about what goals you are tring to achieve ... an 8 sec or better car then aftermarker is the way to go, but IMO anything to that point I'd prefer the Ford unit & the BF more so, I've been using/ tuning the EECV & EECIV with Tweecer & Moates & the SCT eliminate chips for years, the only thing that lets me down with the earlier modles is the condition of the wiring which can be frustating due to the age of the loom, pins & how corrosion attacks them, then you have to go with an aftermarket as then we look at cost..
