  1. Bought my BA 'T in Dec 2004. Now done all of 41,000kms. Just a few careful mods and it still goes like a dream.
  2. Can anyone tell me how to remove the centre console (CDU) in order to access the BEM. I'm fitting the optional Ford alarm to my 2004 XR6T and part of the process involves changing the BEM. Thanks
  3. As of 5 weeks ago I'm Engineer for two FM stations and I.T. Sys Admin for this site and all other sites belonging to the group around the State (Tassy). Six sites in all. I also do some contract electronics R&D after hours for a bit of fun
  4. Bahrain? I thought that AVESCOs' decision to have a round in China was as stupid as they could get!! Obviously I was wrong. They have got some exceptionally stupid decision makers there who are excelling themselves
  5. Thanks to everyone for advice on this. I've spoken to Rob at HPF and now all I have to do is get some time off work, book some ferry fares and accomodation and all should be good Oh - and pay for everything lol
  6. HPF <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks flukeyluke - don't suppose you have any contact info for them?
  7. I'm considering bringing my T to Melbourne to have an Edit done as there's nobody here in Tas who can do it.... I've read lots of threads about various Edit jobs that people have had done but I guess I'm really after some recommendations from personal experience on who will do a good Edit tune on my near standard T (2nd CAI is the only mod so far..)
  8. I really sympathize with all of you guys who've had problems with your Ford dealers. I do have to say though (think I've said before in another thread) that not all dealers are bad. The dealer here in Hobart (there's only one...) is very good. While I've had no serious problems with my T there have been a few difficult to find ones and a problem with paint faults. All problems have been sorted out to my satisfaction and if the car needs to be test driven then their head mechanic drives it - typically before work starts and after it's completed with me as driver or passenger as required. Had the same level of service with both my previous Fords.
  9. The idler/tensioner pulley could be the culprit - it is a known issue with noisy bearings in that unit - mine was noisy from new and dealer replaced the whole assembly - told me it's a common problem....
  10. You need to disconnect the battery and wait about 15 minutes to be on the safe side before you remove the airbag... Very serious injuries can result if the airbag is triggered and you aren't in the normal driving position.
  11. I'm in Hobart so when you all arrive in Tassy give me a call - I'd like to meet up and say hi! Ph 0412 444 659 Might even take a few days off and join in on the drive
  12. I used to have (and drive) a sprint car a few years ago - then it got TOO expensive when the Aust $ when downhill against the US $. They were the ultimate thrill though...... A long time before I raced bikes.... pulls out another grey hair.
  13. R&D Engineer in electronics - embedded systems, comms etc etc etc...
  14. I'd have to agree - looks nice but I reckon you'd lose at least a third of the airflow through your intercooler and radiator
  15. You can download them from the Ford web site.
  16. I've been reading a lot of the comments from forum members complaining about FPV and David Flint. While I'm certainly not an expert in the field of manufacturing of high performance cars it should be remembered that there are a couple of basic requirements for any such business: 1 They are there to make a profit - manufacturing high performance cars for a relaitively small market such as we have in Australia is a difficult balancing act between producing something that appeals to the majority of potential buyers and making a profit at the same time. While we might like to think that forum members represent everyone who buys a car from FPV I somehow think that most FPV buyers don't even know that this (and other) forums exist. Not every FPV buyer is into running the fastest 400m time or winning every traffic light drag! 2 FPV don't just have to keep their customers happy - as we all know too well the road safety do-gooders and the related government agencies also need to be pacified - sure FPV could make a 400rwkw weapon but how long do you reckon it would be before all hell broke loose and the whole local high performance car industry was (once again) knobbled by government? It's also worth remembering that without David Flint we may not even have anything like the cars that we have today from FPV. I know him pretty well and he is very much the driving force behind FPV. Sure there are problems but it's not a trivial task to run a company such as FPV although I'm sure there are plenty of "experts" around who are sure they know EXACTLY how to do it. I guess I'll get flamed for this but someone had to say it. For what it's worth I've always received excellent support, advice and service from Ford (including my local dealer), Tickford and FPV - and yes I do like to burn the ocassional SS commo.
  17. I'm glad I live in Hobart - $612 pa for my new XR6T...

    Ford Service

Maybe I'm just lucky but I must say that my local dealer in Hobart has always been nothing short of excellent with all servicing and warranty issues on my Fords. The only time in the last five years when I had to wait longer than expected for a regular service to be completed I was given a couple of freebies from their cupboard of Ford souvenir items ( a Ford keytag and an XR mug ). I'm sure such items wouldn't cost them much if anything, but it shows that some dealers do the right thing. That's just one of the many reasons why I buy Fords
