OMG congrats Craig , I am totally blown away by these times your pulling telll me whats changed car wise since you were doing high 11's
-
yeah dont be too discouraged , I dont think any stock xrt would beat any stock rex if the rex owner knew how to drive , I owned a stock my98 and also rememebr the my97 actually didnt have the bigger turbo (that was my94-96, possible some earlier 97's might of but the true my97 was the same engine wise as the my98) and they were actually fast stovk over the earlier models and they had alot more torque.. any back to the point , I pulled a 13.7 in mine bog stock (allbeit a ruthless 5500rpm launch) so as many have said dont underrestimate them unless your running at least 250+rwkw's

As a avid fan of both the 200sx and the xr6t I felt the need to clarify a couple facts first of all the s15 runs identical boost as the s14, both around 9psi , its the jap spec s15 that runs higher boost , also the s14 has actually been consistently faster then the s15 on most accounts (best case 14.2 for s14 and 14.4 for s15, average 14.3 for s14 & 14.6 for s15) this is mainly due to lengthier gears which means one less gear change over the 1/4. finally please note that any midly worked 200sx (ie exhuast +boost) will no doubt be much faster then any stock xr6t , its just that most people cant drive them right and they are much harder to get off the line then say an auto xr6t. I have seen many 200sx's with only boost , exhaust and air cleaner pulling mid to high 13's but with trap speeds indicating very low 13's now once you start working on the xr6t , then as we all know its a different story as these things are awesome for getting the power to the ground and even a aps stage 2 can achieve low to mid 12's consistently. but dont underestimate the might of the sr20det , for a 4 cyl motor they have been known to make over 750hp in japan and are almost bulletproof. and even here in Au with a mod plan consisting of ecu, injectors, exhuast, cai, cooler and bigger turbo , you can expect around 250rwkw+ (with a 1290kg car that's the equivilant to a stage 3 aps xr6t)

from my experience as a previous owner of a 98 rex , it was pretty easy to get a good launch every time , it just involved being brutal , minimum of 5000rpm and dumping the clutch , 5500rpm was even a more certain of getting a good start in regards to the XR6T being able to launch in a similar fashion I would say forget it in a manual but in the auto it is quite possible to get a decent launch ,although not as good as a 5500rpm 4wd launch , I would say at best a rex with a perfect launch vs a auto t would be about 1-1.5 carlegths as oppsed to 1.5-2.5 for a manual rwd vs 4wd. now once you put stallies into the equation then its a diff story, I owned a lancer gsr 4wd and I had a run with a auto clubsport with a supercharger and I was shocked on how good this thing could launch , even with my brutal clutch dumping this thing was never more than 1/2 - 3/4 of a carlegth behind me, I was very impressed ( he also had huge tyres which no doubt would of helped)

awesome dean , bloodly awesome that's it , stage 3 here I come !!!!! also btw, whats it cost roughly to put stroger rods in a xr6t, all up with labour ??
-
great result to Craig and Dean, don't worry Craig , its just a matter of time before you car runs a mid 11 or better also to dean , is your xr a std phase 3 plus the conrods or does it have other mods , also what tyres were you running

Well just came back from the nizpro dyno night and guess what there XR6T motor made tonight 1223HP / 921kw @1488 NM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got it all on video cam , it was absolutely awesome, also they ran there ute on the dyno which pulled the 11.86 last time and it made 361rwkw overall a great night and an experience to say at the very least

I'll try to be there although ,I wont be running my stockie (No point I guess)
-
guy at aps told me they had one (TT kit installed on ls1)in the US fitted and ran it for 80000k's with no internal damage at all
-
well I just did some reasearch out of intrest and apparently the twin turbo aps kit is gonna cost around 15k fitted , not too bad when you consider all the work involved. now although im a xr6t person, imagine buying a low 20k exec vx 5.7 and add 15k kit on it ...scary !!! the only problem I see if finding insurance for the beast although aps will be releasing the kit ADR legal
