Was driving around some car dealerships of all places when all of a sudden the car misssed and started again to idle roough. Drove it to the mechanics asap and docked $294.69 ,3 Coil packs and a set of 6 sparks later. I am not impressed with this heap. I think its slowley becoming a lemon and I dont even drive it hard.

Had the car back for a day now. The problem is no longer their. Car feels great and feels smoother than what It was. Not to sure if its because I havent had it for about a month, but just feels that way. Total cost including labour & reconditioning of the Turbo was $1369. This also includes new wastegate solenoid, Gaskets, studs etc and Fuel regulator + 50 bucks worth of fuel . I am happy that I have the car back but a little hesitant to give it throttle more than I have too. Again thanks guys for all the help etc- Much appreciated or all the good sugestions everyone gave.

Good to here it was a spark plug. I got my car back with reconditioned turbo and is all fine now.

Well intially he said that thier was a little play in it but appeared normal. Now I dont know much about turbos but after Ford sent him the schematics etc he removed it to find that in fact it needed to be repaired. A couple of days ago it was sent away to get re-conditioned and repaired and as of today it was repaired and is currently getting fitted to the car. I still don't know what its going to cost. Dule- remember the error code came up with wastegate. So I am assuming that this is the problem area that should have been throughly investigated. If their wasnt anything wrong with the Turbo I doubt that repairer would have done anything to it. We will all find out when its all put back together again and it is taken for a spin. Seduced- The mechanic rang heaps of places to get opinions. This Ford guy said it was a head gasket of all things. So he says if I had taken it to anyone else, everything would have got replaced till they found the problem and then given a bill for over two grand. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that he had my best interests at heart as I have been going to him for a good couple of years now. Would a tuner have done any better? Look at 6 Leta post who said he took his to Nizpro of all places and is still got issues. Well I dont know, but I am anxious to get my hands on the car.

Mate I know how it feels when these intermittent issues come up trust me. The intial issue when we hooked up the computer showed wastegate with my problem. Now come to think of it- we should have suspected the turbo straight away as this is all connected to the turbo and in that vicinity. Since we did change the wastegate solenoid and it didnt fix it also and the coil packs. With mine I was driving the car hard and suddenly loose power and the car would not go. It would come to a stand still and rough idle till I gave it a bit of a rev. Then it was fine at normal pase. Connect the computer up and see what error code comes up and then go from their. My turbo didnt just die- it was boosting and would cut out at real hard acceration. I was told by my mechanic that it is just wear and tear and to expect this when you buy these type of cars. Not very reassuring anyway. By the way my turbo is getting re-conditioned and is supposedly the mechanic is etting it back today. Still dont know how much it will cost.

I spoke to the mechanic and he said that he aint going ti buy jak sh*t from ford. Apprently he will look into options etc to either recondition the one I already have, or buying aftermarket. Whatever the case at least we found out what it was.

Three and a half weeks at the mechanic and find out what was wrong with it. IT WAS A F**KING Turbo Failure!! So their you have it. Ford sell turbos for $5000.00 and the blastered car wasnt even moded. It was a stock standard peace of sh*t too. Not Happy one bit. . Thanks guys for all the suggestions you gave. I really appreciate it. Wish it could have been on a mor happier note.

Sorry guys but the car still remains at the mechanic. The plugs have been tested plus new ones where put in to rule out this. The mechanic is changing the fuel regulator to rule out the possibility it is a fuel issue. The Oxygen sensor would come up on the computer if it was at fault.

Thanks for that tip lowfrutura. I have just emailed him to rule out this as well. Dule he does not have a Dyno, but if he doesnt find out whats wrong with it, I may have to take it to a real specialist for this one.

I just rang him up to check the valve springs. He said he will check it out. He kind of has a slight doubt as he says the car would do it everytime at normal driving if that's the case. Eitherway I told him to check it anyway. Let me clarify the problem. The problem occurs when your really gving the car a good belting, but on normal driving its not their. Eitherway if I am to trade it, I doubt it would be a Ford or Expensive Daewoo again. Still on two minds what to do- I dont want to get into debt due to the current situation, but then I am without a car till I get this soughted out. Just a small update: My mechanics wife Tanya took it for a spin and it is now doing it at around 3000rpms. So I asked her to check the fuel pressure regulator as suggested. It is now a process of elimination. All I can say is thank you guys for your support and keep the suggestions coming in. Sooner or later we going to hit this on the head.

Ok the mechanic has inspected the cat and it seems to be alright. So what gives?? He is going to check the cars computer too see if its the problem and possibly replace it if its the underlying issue. I have started looking at some other vehicles to trade into, but at this stage I cant do anything till I get the car back unrepaired. Whatever the case I this does not look any good and the more I look at this forum I am getting to understand that others seem to be having similar issues as well. Before the car becomes a money pit I have to really consider getting rid of it.

Nah- He replaced all the coils with brand new ones and it was still missing under load. This has really got us stumped. Hopefully it would be solved this week.

But will this explain the wastegate problem??

I thought I should update this thread. At the current stage the injectors were taken out and tested and the seem fine, so they arent clogged. My mechanic will take of the cat and check this out, but he seems to have his doubts that its the problem. If that's not it he will eventually remove the turbo and see if that's it. This is becoming increasingly frustrating and by then end of next week if the problem is still their, then I think its time to get rid of her. My friends are now laughing at me that it was "Found on Rubbish Dump" and I am not laughing at all.
