  1. So I got my car back from the Diff joint with no success. The guy said when I dropped it off it would be the bush and bolt, to which I replied I had replaced. He took it for a drive with me and agreed something is definatly not right. Left the car with him and when I called he had no answers! Said my diff had a tiny tiny bit of movment but it was to small to be the cause of the noise. He said the CV joints COULD be worn but wasnt sure...... Has/Does anyone know of a Diff place in East Melbourne that has worked on a BA MKII turbo before, or could be recommended??? I am struggling to find anyone who can help me. I think my next move is to call the performance tuners and ask who they use and chase it up that way... the noise is still driving me nuts
  2. mate, I have the same car, same backlash/feedback and shunting noise and its driving me freakin mental! On recommendation, I changed the diff bush myself, took a long ass time, but it was shagged so needed doing. Used a peders polyurethane bush as the replacement cause came with new bolt. Guess what. STILL DOES IT, only now its freakin louder. thought about kicking in a quarter panel........ The after market bush is stiffer so transfers more sound into the car, but it is now a lot easier to hear the clunking and defiantly sounds as if it is coming from the diff. Heading to a diff joint this arvo to plead and throw money down the drain. Let you know the outcome. Every gear shift, clunk clunk, every time I slow down, shunt shunt shunt......AAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  3. Hey guys, So I bit the bullet and gave it a crack. I used to pedders Bush and spend the best part of 2 days getting it done. Worst part is defiantly undoing the bolts (as I had no ramps, just squeezed under!). The next was getting the old bush out. Used the technique described, (drilling a hole into the center and turning to break in out, came off easy as it was already broken into pieces). But when I tried the hole saw it just kept grabbing and I couldn't get it so cut in. So grabbed a butane torch, a spoon and a breathing mask and attacked it. Heated the spoon till red hot then just scooped it through the old bush, piece by piece! MAGIC! worked a charm, then got a little wire brush on the drill and cleaned up the insode no worries. After battling getting the new bush in, I got it all back together but still have my freakin clunk and backlash ahaha. At least I didn't waste $650 on getting someone to do it for me, and the bush needed to get done anyway. So now I am still chasing the backlash issue, next is to check diff, tailshaft (uni's) and gear box mount. the battle continues.... (will post a few pics when I get the chance)
  4. wow nice! that's what I am hoping, that the springs are there and the injectors drilled, but as you said the dyno is the only way (short of a flow test)
  5. Went to see Mick at pitlane this morning, he is a fountain of knowledge haha. Had a great chat and worked out a bit of a plan and a quote, just need to save a touch more, and then will be booking her in for a few new toys and see what power it can push!
  6. Yeah I got the flash box, so will bring that along tomorrow. Getting the car ready for the power does make the most sense and the option 3 clutch sounds the go. thanks for the advice mate, has been a great help
  7. Thanks for the advice, I will Pitlane a visit tomorrow and get a few quotes!
  8. Cheers Phooned, wasn't aware that was possible, that's defiantly an option
  9. The injectors are blue and the part number is the stock one. It has the standard clutch and if in 4th and boot it slips a bit here and there. As soon as I noticed ( about a week after I bought it) I have been reading about the mal wood clutches and the option 3 sounds awesome, will defiantly be the replacement clutch I go for. I think I will do the siemens injectors anyway to be safe, fuel pump and get the valve springs done and tune it. Then save for the clutch and exhaust. Just the delema of which order to do it, power first and be easy on the clutch, or clutch and then power... Cheers for the response, that was great, think I will drive down to pitlane tomorrow and have a chat with the guys.
  10. Hey guys, Bought a BA MKII turbo 6 speed manual (60,000km) about a month ago and loving it!!!! They previous owner had done a few mods which he said included flash tune running 12psi peaking at 15, cooler, SS growler kit, injectors and valve springs. He said it makes around 270rwkw. I didn't know anyone with a turbo to check with at the time and so being a nubie took the guys word for the work I couldn't see/wasn't sure about (ie- valve springs and injectors). Call me stupid for not checking (many have haha), but was checking the gap on the plugs last night and had a closer look at and believe the injectors are still the stock ones (blue 32lbs) and now I have doubts about the valve springs too. All the other mods are there though so its just the injectors and springs that I am doubting. I know you can drill/modify the injectors but how would I know? and as for valve springs....no easy way to check I guess? (I know he hasn't just replaced the injectors with the stock ones and sold them cause the car runs smooth as) The car hauls ass, but because I have nothing to compare it with and I am unsure. I am looking for an exaust at the moment (x-force 4" stainless turbo back) and obviously will need a retune. I'm thinking I will get some siemens 60lbs injectors done at the same time for peace of mind. I am looking for low 300's, so presuming the valve springs are standard, is this acheivable? or should I be getting springs and a fuel pump as well? From what I have read, pitlane seems to be running a tight ship so think I will pop down there to have a chat, but any recomendations would be greatly appreciated!!!! (I live in camberwell) Cheers guys!
  11. haha told you I was new. It is a 6 speed Manual Thanks PHANTMXR6 for answering, great advice! Will get under there on the weekend and have a look. Exactly what I was after, a process. Cheers
  12. Hey guys, I have a BA Mk2 XR6T, 6 speed, 58000km. Has flash tune, injectors, cold air, larger cooler, and valve springs. Approx 270rwkw. I am experiencing some pretty aggressive backlash when rolling in gear towards a stop. Makes the whole car shudder forward and back, and makes a loud clunk clunk clunk clunk (as what I feel is the drive chain) bouncing forwards and backwards as the cars speed slows the engine. If I am holding the gear stick, I can feel the clunk quite solidly moving the stick. It also makes a clunk when first engaging a gear (think it is diff bushings...?) Can anyone shed some light on my issues? Universal joints? Tailshaft? Diff? or Gearbox? Or any way I can test to find out? Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated as I am new to this scene. Sorry if this is a re-post, if so refer me to a link? Have looked through and everyone has different ideas. Happy so spend some cash fixing it, I'm just not sure what I am looking for? Cheers, Troy
