I have this white noise issue with my 09 FG G6ET.Mine is stock standard. Have sat in about a dozen new cars with premo sound and all had varying degrees of the same issue except for an new GT which had almost no white noise.... White noise with about an audio level of 12 or 13 even with the volume at 0.White Noise there with motor on or off and with all types of input..radio,AUX,IPOD or CD. White noise doesn't disappear into the bacground of the sound / music until you have a volume level of about 12 -14 on the dial. Posted an entry in May 09 on this site....nobody really interested so did not update with my experience with Ford tech supp Mgr and Fair Trading...only course left is to go to arbitration but that involves getting an expert opinion etc etc.... Been thru Ford even to Fair Trading. Ford's response is they will not even consider swapping out the Sumitomo head unit to see if I get any improvement.... and consider the "premium sound" to be performing as designed....go figure..absolutely sh%@thou$e attitude to this issue. Ford say that they are getting no complaints.......most people just seem put up with it or have not listened...or do not have as bad a problem as mine...so they are not putting any time into it....except that after fair trading got involved they did tell me that they can fix it at zero volume...so can I by turn the whole audio off.... I would not mind if I could get an after market solution but it appears that even if I wanted a better head unit and keep all the existing steering controls etc there is nothing on the market to suit. I have the Tom Tom Go750 and use the Clicon holder.This is because of the last of possible mounting places and I do not like it on the windscreen. There are 4 types to choose from for the FG.No screws just inserts between gaps. Hold My Phone | Phone GPS and MP3 holders and Dashmounts for all Vehicles has the info just select your car type,GPS ( or phone etc ) type and it will come up with the possible positions that they have mounts for. So far its working ok for me. I have no affiliation with this crowd just throwing in my 2 bobs worth. -
No mines usually after reversing say down the driveway then as I start to move forward. Very intermittent.

Was wunderin' if there is any reason why you can't simply undo the rubber hose that comes from the solenoid where it attches to the top of the turbo and then spray the WD-40 down this hose? Hose is about 10 inches long so cannot see why to remove it from the solenoid end? Where it attaches to the turbo has a screw head clamp and is easily accessible and would save the pain of removing anything? (FG G6ET.)

Happens to my FG G6ET (5000km now )as well at slow speeds or just getting going.....

Well I took the time to write to the Oz CEO as a last ditched effort to express my dissatisfaction. Had to send a letter because you cannot use email.....so they make it as hard as possible.. Unfortunately the letter goes to the Customer Relationship Centre anyway (also know as a company called Percepta ( I am led to believe not an actual part of Ford itself ). I was under the impression that if you send a letter addressed to a particular person someone other than the addresse shouldn't open it......as I was already tired of dealing with the CRC and part of my complaint was with them. Sent letter 1/9/09 had to chase them up today 22/9/09. Bottom line is that I was told that the audio hiss I am experiencing is a "characteristic" of the premium sound.......according to the technical support. They were not interested in getting a neutral audio specialist to access and ascertain whether I had any cause to complain as they say their dealer mechanics are more than adequate. Nothing will be done and all cars have this issue to a lesser or greater degree apparantly (according to what I was told).? When I asked why the CEO did not get my mail even though it was addressed to him personally I was told that all correspondance goes through Percepta aka CRC. So if you have a problem with the CRC as well as the issue you originally were complaining about and want to go to the next level.... you're snookered.. So bottom line is that there really appears to be no way to express your dissatisfaction and if you really want to take it further Consumer affairs etc is the only option or just put up with it / put in after market system which won't integrate with the ICC and controls. So hopefully I don't get a major issue with the car.....extremely dissapointing experience. Does this company really care about their customers......?? Not from what I have experienced with this issue to date.

Manager from HQ got back to me with the news that this is as good as the Premium Sound gets and working as designed......at least he was more responsive that the normal contacts you have to go thru. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the audible hissing and the bottom line is to turn it up.....problem is the hiss is still in the background when using the hands free phone function. Maybe they will get it right in the next model.......

Finally managed to talk with someone at the HQ not thru the customer service line . Got to express my concerns over the phone and felt I got a good hearing. Will be expecting some feedback after he has checked my concerns out. Feel better that I have actually spoken to someone who can either take action or let me know the state of play or tell me I am blowing smoke.. or all three maybe... This is the first time that I feel that I have been listened to by the company HQ area outside of the dealer service network with respect to this issue.. The fact that you feel like your trying to fight the wind is the most annoying when you feel you're getting nowhere.....

Went and listened to other new Fords with premium sound at a dealer and the "hissing" sound is evident maybe to a slightly lesser degree to mine. So looks like my only option is to write to Ford to express my disappointment at the audio product provided. Overall although the dealer service staff have been overall very supportive with my concerns I know that they can do no more without a design change in the audio system which obviously is beyond their control. The main gripe I have besides the audio issue itself is how difficult it is dealing through the Customer relations line and how difficult atually making a complaint to this company is. I will have to resort to writing (as there appears to be no other way) to voice my concerns. The real dissaponting feature of this saga is how difficult it is for the customer to get responses back from the customer relationship centre and that for whatever reason you cannot write a complaaint to Ford online even in this day and age without running through the customer relationship centre which I am led to believe is a third party organisation. I wish Ford would survey me on this issue, then again maybe they are happy how their customer relationship centre performs their duties. One question someone may be able to answer: Does anyone know how to contact Ford via phone / email to make a complaint ( not the customer relationship centre )?

Ford Cust Relations is on 13FORD or via email. Unfortunately they will make you go thru the dealer for problem determination etc so more time wasting ( I suppose unless you have already done so then they give you a request number ). Response times seem to be drawn out so don't expect a quick result. Supposedly the Premium sound is Bose? So I am surprised if this is the fact that there is any issue like this with this brand. Good luck.
