Went out for another drive the other night and messed around with it abit it seemed quickest when I launched off the lights in Performace mode but let the car shift itself RPMs went lots higher than I thought seeing as I usually shift in manual mode before the revs get up there. Might wait til I've got the work I wanna get done to it first then tune and then muck around im getting pretty used to the stock power, startin to feel the thirst.

Lately I've been doing alot Driving around in my BA XR6T so I've been messing with the sports shift seeing how it responds dropping gears, cornering, take-offs etc etc. Anyway I still havent worked out if taking off / rolling start is quicker when shifting yourself or allowing the car to shift for you. So when im down at Kwinana doing a 1/4 should I leave in drive or kick it into sport shift?

Hey guys I've got my T booked in for lowering next week the suspension place im going to is installing king springs (Not sure which ones) and have asked me how low I want to go Just looking for some opinions on how low to drop it, im only on the stock 17" rims (painted black) hehe. He only mentioned 35mm and 50mm on the phone, any opinions? Also do the springs compromise the smooth ride at all? Cheers!
  4. I just picked up a "Drift" bov from an auto store near me just wondering what im gonna need to have it installed to my stock piping or if I need anything at all? Also what will an atmo bov like this sound like on standard boost? Any good? Im mostly after the sound factor.

  6. Yeah I was thinking of getting a propper growler intake or something similar that has the pod enclosed with a larger snorkel allowing more air in. As for the mechanic im not sure what he was on about in fact I've heard so many different opinions on pod filters from so many different mechanics I dont know who to believe.
  7. Im slowly clocking up the Ks on my BA XR6 turbo and later down the track I wouldnt mind doing an engine swap out to a 270T. Thing is im not really sure of the best place to pick up a complete engine to swap in. Do ford supply them or would I be better off going to wreckers / damage auction?
  8. One of the first mods I did when I got my T was removing the stock air box / snorkel etc and replacing it with a pod filter set up. I run an adapted Airhog 4" pod from where the airbox used to sit and bracketed it to avoid getting a canary. Recently though a mechanic doing a service on my car advised against it saying the ECU misinterprets AI info and can result in hotter engine temps and because of this I removed it and put the standard system back on. After taking it for a drive with the stock system back on however there was a noticeable drop in power. Has anyone else noticed this power increase with a pod or heard anything about using pod filters on the Ts, im running the pod set up again because it feels better but im not sure if I should listen to my mechanic and get rid of it all together. Any thoughts?
  9. I have premium sound and have the brake light in the back window, not covered by carpet, so I guess the one on my spoiler was un-neccessary.
  10. I recently removed my spoiler but I decided to skip welding up the holes as its a pretty difficult and fiddley task to do. Its pretty hard to get under to cover the welds to prevent rust and without causing weld damage as the boot metal is relatively thin. I work at an panel shop so I was able to pick up a BA XT boot for my BA XR6T exactly the same size minus the spoiler holes so a nice flat (factory) finish. Unfortunately for me XTs dont come in phantom so that needed painting not too expensive for me so its worked really well. Ive seen some weld up jobs, some good some bad, getting the 2nd hand boot lid just seemed the easiest and neatest option to me.
  11. Checked out some of the MOMO stuff, not for me only seem to be replacement shifter heads and chrome inserts for the gear stick Im more after an entire swap out from the BA 4 speed shifter panel to this... possible? like are the sizes similar?
  12. Mate rust is killer as a panel beater I do heaps of rust repairs, thing is usually what you see aint all that's there. Probably best to see a panel shop but the process is... Grinding the rust off, following the rust under the paint (if it has spread), after all rust is cleared apply a rust inhibitor of some kind, prime, paint. Shouldn't have any problems after that but as I said probably better to take it to a panel shop as it gets pretty tricky as a home job unless you've got the right tools. But as for your problem I had boot rust around my spoiler didnt notice until it bubbled under the paint, I went for an entire boot replacement to a BA XT boot (No spoiler holes) but in most cases easier to just get it repaired.

Hey guys looking for some wise words on the matter of, a) if its possible and b) how expensive would it be, to convert the ba automatic shifter to the bf or even fg shifter (more likely bf due to similarities) I have a BA and have got the interior looking good but im just overall unhappy with the appearance of the shifter unit, it just seems so blocky compared to the elegant leather shifter on the bf series. I was thinking about it and even though the 4 speed and 6 speed are way different the shifter shouldnt vary in function so unless theres some sizing or wiring issues could be quite a smooth mod to do, but anyways anyone know anything about doing something like this?

    Im currently looking at a BA MKII 05 with 130KMS for 14,990 This is the cheapest one from a dealer in perth at the moment the cheapest BF is 21,800 which exceeds my finance capabilities a little I might look at pickles however, they do some cheapies every now and then.

    I got done for careless driving just after I got my license, would have contested it if I'd known more about road laws as I did absolutely nothing wrong, it was even on cctv proving it, but we wont go there. A few months later I got done speeding cos I got mad that this guy cut me off, (that guy being an undercover policeman) and got done for driving without license because I didn't know careless driving on your Ps means instant suspension for 3 months. So my license history is one big mess atm and insurance is proving to be a huge limiter on what car I drive. But im determined to get an XR6T.

    Yeah I've read the forums and stuff its a hard choice cos I'd be able to afford a BA much sooner but I've been in a few BFs and I really like even the look of the 6 speed compared to the 4 speed. Um been looking at like extreme tuning and stuff in WA but probably wouldnt have the money to do real power gaining mods, plus I seem to be a magnet for the Police. How much do people pay on full insurance on BA / BFs? Cos im young with priors and got quoted 4.5k a year for a BF with air induction so not to keen ha

    Im looking at buying an XR6 turbo im upgrading from a standard AU futura so big step up Still don't know if I should go for a BA or a BF Is there a real noticeable difference, I mean is the ZF really as good as everyone says and is it worth the rough (in WA) $5-8K difference in price? A BA would make 245kw with a pod filter right? Do you have to spend more money to get some kick from BAs or what? Really Im just looking for a T that'll leave my mates VY SS behind at Kwinnana on wednesday nights but I don't wanna go for the BA and regret not getting a BF 6 months later. I am an apprentice so I've had to save pretty hard and I have prior traffic convictions so my insurance will be heaps so keeping all that in mind I'd love to get some advice from the guys who know it best BA or BF? cheers.

  20. Has anyone made this conversion? I imagine a twin turbo xr6 would be pretty formidable on the drag strip but I havent seen or heard much about anyone doing it. Is it possible and whos done it and more importantly how much lighter will your wallet feel after having it done? I heard that ford is considering a v6 twin turbo falcon in their post FG range anyone else heard more on this? give ya 2cents!

It wasnt intended as an "everlasting" topic and one that had to be brought down to comparing string lengths it was the fact that Skylines get talked up so much and every fool in a skyline thinks he's driving a GTR same as every fool in a lancer thinks he's driving an evo So I was just out to see if people were seeing the same things as I was...I wasnt out to "diss" or undermine anyones cars or preference in car. my personal opinion is that the xr6t will give you much better bang for your buck and I'd personally rather have one because its a roomy comfortable large sedan with some serious ball kicking capability. that's my opinion anyway.

  24. Holy sh*t what were you in?! I've done in a non-turbo r33 or 32 (not a skyline man) in an AU forte with a pod filter that's why I dont have much faith in the old skylines. Even though I do realise he must have been the biggest fail of a driver ever for that to occur. yeah r35s are through the roof I feel a little better sitting in a bit of Ozzy engineering myself.
  25. Yeah screw performance comparisons, its all about comfort haha But I know what you mean I drove my mates brothers r33 Skyline and although performance was good it was really uncomfortable compared to the falcon range I've driven in I wouldn't mind a nice 12 second T either! :headbang2:
