  1. Hey guys. Just thought Id start a thread regarding my audio install I began a few days ago. Have been deliberating whether to go down the head unit or ICC path for a while now, Decided to go with the ICC path as I wanted to retain the factory look and function and worst comes to worst I can always fit a deck later and run RCA's to my 2 amps instead of using high level inputs. Decided I wanted splits in the front and was happy to just put 5x7's in the rear as I am hoping to get 2 pioneer 12's when funds permit, at the moment I have one old pioneer 12" which I am using temporarily. Went to Alberts during the week where my mate works and picked up a set of type S splits and type S 5x7s. Wanted to get type Rs when I began but because the amp I am using which is already under the front seat only puts out 60W RMS and the type Rs pull 110W RMS I decided to stay with the type S's. The audison SRx4 was already under the front seat, was putting 60W RMS to only the front stock 5x7's, so wired up my new rears and splits as well as running 4 gauge to a distribution block next to the amp so I could run 8 gauge to the audison and my MTX in the boot. here's some pictures, im hoping to keep updating till I'm done The complete bottom of the boot including the wheel well has been dynamated by the last owner. 5x7 to 6.5" adapters mdf that I sealed to stop swelling. where I spliced in to the ICC speaker outputs audison srx4 was putting 60W RMS to only the front stock 5x7's.
  2. I was intending to use the signal going into the stock amp as a high level input for my mono, but as you have pointed out when I tested the voltage it was peaking at around .3V. So if I use a HI-LO converter such as the lc6i off the rear channels am I correct in saying It will not effect my rear speakers which will be also using this signal amplified through a seperate amp? are there any downsides to using a pre- amp if I wanted to choose that option and use the input before the factory sub?
  3. so your saying if you plug in the Factory amp then the ICC sensors this and enables a high pass filter to the 4 in car speakers, because it thinks that you are running your sub for bass therefore the fronts and rears dont need the bass frequencies. im not to keen on spliting the fronts or rears in order to run a signal to my aftermarket sub im looking to install, so if I wanted to utelize the yellow/black LOW PASS signal that would normally be fed into the factory amp would I require a pre-amp device such as a lc6i, mtx re-q?
  4. can anyone confirm that the yellow and black wires next to the blue ones are the SUB + AND - from the ICC? THANKS
  5. Im pretty sure that's just some clever photoshopin' DjGsTa?
  6. what kind of power you getting with the supercharger SEETO? sorry dont mean to hijack
  7. how come you want the screen to turn off while driving? is it possible to have the screen playing a dvd whenever you want? sorry didnt see above disregard this
  8. Yeah I have been looking at asl's products, not cheap haha but I want the premium screen and would prefer it over having a DVD headunit with screen in the tissue space, is the quality of the audio different to just straight from a headunit if I get the Icc modded for rcas and also how would the audio get inputted Into the icc from the deck via an aid cable from where?
  9. Hi, im new here but have read almost all the posts in this section as I am buying my dads BA MkII xr6 off him in 8 months when his work lease finishes and am really excited might I add it will be my second car with my first being a telstar TX5 in which I learnt alot about installing car audio I want to begin by installing a premium ICC and then getting the piano black facia (hopefully) then I am hoping to install a dvd headunit in the tissue box holder space and run an amp and my speakers straight from the head bypassing the ICC, I know that this means I will lose my steering wheel controls but id rather lose that in favour of better quality audio, am I right is saying this is the case? the bit I am curious about is wether or not I will be able to output a video signal to the ICC so I can watch the dvd on the screen and the audio comes out of the head and through my stereo? has anyone tried this? also I was wondering how good the quality of the screen is for watching dvds? I know it wont be crystal clear but is it watchable? thanks in advance guys p.s this forum is wicked so much useful information on basically everything xr6
