Ethanol in petrol is a good thing for servos, as the hydroscopic nature of it means that they can sell the water contamination in their tanks, at bowser price, and not have to pay to get rid of it from storage tanks
Just how many std. utes ARE destructing their tailshafts. I know there is a lot of discussion on Forums about them, but it seems to me to be only few cases that are quoted. Is it THAT common, or developing into undue worry because there are some isolated cases.
First trip in the FG XR6T, without the tools and canopy, was this Xmas. 10000Km on clock, 1000Km trip, 9.6L/100. I am happy with that. Followed the misses in the BA N/A, on the trip, and the BA got 9.8L/100.
Mine has a minor vibration, stationary, and in 'D', probably the same as 'tig'. Will mention it to the dealer at the 15k service. It's the only issue that I have with the ute. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with the ute.
I had the full covers in my BF and put them in the FG when I got it. The seat cushion may be a touch shorter in the FG, as the front of the cushion cover seems to be not quite as snug as it was on the BF.
G Banger Turbo The exhaust doesn't change. Auto electrician can wire up tail-lights. You may be able to do it yourself. LPG Gas tank could have more room, depending on the height of the tray above the chassis.
You will need to touch up the paint for the back of the cab, and also the chassis. Fuel filler on FGs has some adjustment, in that it is not a solid filler with the tank, as in previous models.
That is not a run-in, it is just on roller-wheels to see that it goes. I also don't believe that you say that each individual engine is hooked up and hot tested on an engine dyno before being fitted to the car. Mass-prod manufactures don't do that.
Long story, but Ethanol is only cheaper to mix with petrol, at the moment, because the tax on ethanol is less than petrol. Over the next few years, the tax increases gradually to eventually match the petrol excise.[ Govt. doesn't what to subsidize ethanol for too long and lose $$] At current petrol prices, ethanol is dearer to produce than petrol.[ remember that subsidy] High Oil Barrel prices is the only way ethanol can be competitive on price.
