Zf - Steal Pan Sump/Bolts & Penrite Trans Oil
JBJARROD replied to Scrotus's topic in Driveline Workshop
Ok I made contact with Penrite and they recommend the SIN ATF for the ZF. I am still confused as people here are saying that you should use the other Penrite oil (not the Sin ATF). I will be getting ford to do a full flush (the whole 9 litres) and getting them to fill mine with the Penrite (SINT ATF I was thinking). They did however tell me that there would obviously be no warranty in regards to the different oil being used but im fine withat that. I do have 340rwkw and apparently the genuine oil doesnt handle that much power anyway, (well it isn't doing so well at the moment) 3rd to fourth gear change makes a wierd sound when changing almost if its slipping!!! -
Hi I have a BF XR6 Turbo sedan 6 speed Auto. Im using 7.9litres of fuel per 100 highway driving and around town about 12 litres if I driveit nicely. When I drive it not so nicely its about 9.4 litres highway and about 17 litres around town. Not bad really considering I have 341rwkws at 15 psi!

Xr6 Ratcheting Metal Sound Heard Under Acceleration
JBJARROD replied to JBJARROD's topic in Driveline Workshop
Thought I would give an update regarding the issue that I had fixed by Ford. Well after about 5000kms, tune of 341rwkws and spirited driving the noise is back again damn it. Goood news is I know how to stop it but im a little annoyed it only lasted for 5000kms!!! Anyway another $25 bucks for a uni joint and $120 for a few hours labour for them to grease the tail shaft up again!!! My car is turning into a major money pit!!!! In relation to the noise that was rasied about handbrake and shim noises etc I think I know the noise you speak of but its no where near as loud as the metal driveline sound im speaking of. -
Hi mate, I have finally found someone with the same problem as me. Unfortunately I don't have a confirmed fix regarding this noise that you are talking about. I'm planning on replacing the oil (doing a full gearbox flush and replacing the 9 litre) with Penrite oil (not sure what exact oil just yet). I have read elsewhere of a similar noise and they have fixed the problem by changing the oil (doing a service). I am running 341rwkws since this noise and I have 64,000kms on the odometer. Pretty sure it hasn't had an oil change yet so that is next on the cards. Im hoping that I wont have to rebuild the gearbox cause that will mean around $5000 bucks ahhh (already got quotes through CV Performance). Anyway mate I will let you know how I go but I hope that I fix this issue without having to the do the rebuild. If you hear anything or find a fix let me know please Cheers Jarrod

Mine is making 341 rwkws with the monza intercooler. I think they are a good buy for the money, give reasonably good power and leave under the bonnet looking factory. I recommend them but believe the car would be a much better improvement with a larger cooler and different piping setup. Prob make another 30kws I would think at the treads on the same boost, I am running 15 psi boost by the way.

I bought my Monza interooler from Ebay for $250 delivered and making 341kw at the wheels.

People are putting the filters on because stuff such as dirt may get into your manifold and wreck your turbo/motor slowly etc. I did this mod this afternoon. I bought a 50 cent garden srinkler stopper thingy from Bunnings (it looks like a chair stopper thingy but is plastic, its about 15mm wide I think roughly), has the lip on it to so a hose fits on it well. I dont mind the sound. Im running 15psi and at low boost it makes a pssssshhhhh sound that seems to go on for a while but when you hit full boost and back off it makes a pshtutututu sound similar to standard but bit noisier and more pschhh haha if you get me. I recommend the mod to anyone. Only cost me 50 cents to do it as well, but just using the standard hose clamps, although prob wouldnt hurt changing all the hose clamps as the standard ones are fairly basic and average but seem to do the job.

Yeah I got my full stainless Xforce 3.5" exhuast fitted couple days ago. I had to use an oxy to bend a mount near the dif. The dump pipe took forever to fit but got it on in the end. The exhaust did rattle once fitted near the diff aea again as the rubber mount moved whilst driving it but got the oxy back out and theres good clearance there now. Saying that, the rear muffler with the two tips (I hate the dual tips) sat about 4 inches lower then it should so had to weld another braket onto it and got rid of the old sh*tty wrap around type bracket that goes fully around the muffler. So in the end it all worked out ok until tonight haha. The heat shield around where the exhaust goes over the dif area has all melted and the heat shielding is now resting slightly on the exhuast, its amzing how hot the exhaust gets!!!!! Anyway will have to now again pull the exhaust off and refit some better heat shield and maybe heat wrap the exhaust where it goes over the dif which I think xforce say it will then void your warranty, (not really sure why though). I'm just glad I have a mate with a hoist cause there is no way you could fit the exhaust at home!! But overall the note is not as loud as I thought (which is great) and gee even with it being stock and not tuned it goes quite well. Although the engine light comes on and the computer then splutters which then requires restarting the engine and its good again. Will be gettin a proper tune though shortly and everything should be better. Overall excellent exhaust for the money but just needs work and I really dont think there is anything such as a true bolt on system.

Ok, Is fairly easy job, I used a 1 litre bottle of diff oil in a plastic hand pump cyclinder (I used Nulon stuff bout 60 bucks for 2l) I had to use a few extensions and a large think it was 22mm socket (but not too sure) to undo the large inlet bolt at the back of the diff. There isnt very much room to do it in the sedans and I have a BF MK1 and no easy access hole to fill it up :(. I just jacked the car up and did it with a hand pump. Should take about 1 hr to but I let it drain out overnight then refilled it the next morning. Oh I forgot to empty the oil you have to undo the bottom diff bolt to let the oil come out.

Xr6 Ratcheting Metal Sound Heard Under Acceleration
JBJARROD replied to JBJARROD's topic in Driveline Workshop
Ok guys, took it to ford, they fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Basically if there isn't enough grease on the spline that connects the rear shaft with the front shaft (between gearbox and diff) it will make this sound. Takes about 2 hrs to do and involves making sure the driveshaft is put back on the same way it was put on due to balancing issues. Just put a fair bit of grease on the spline and clean it up, put it back together and there you go. NOTE: Id however recommend changing the uni joint while your at it cause it has to be pulled apart anyway to seperate the two shafts. -
Hi I have a Bf Mk1 Xr6 turbo, 6 speed auto sedan. Lately I have noticed a metal (ractcheting sound) caoming from underneath my car under reasonably harsh acceleration and changing down gears. (sound like tools are loose in the back of the car but definetely not this) Easy way I have showed people this noise is by putting the car in drive, hand brake off, foot brake on hard, the back of the car dips when a tap of the accelerator is made, there are several high pitched metal sounds coming from under the car. If I continue to tap the accelerator these noises start to stop after about 7 or more creaking and metal sounds heard (as if something is now under load). So to make the noise again I do the same above but put it into reverse. What I have done so far is replaced the uni joint in the drive shaft just past the centre bearing but still noise appears, im thinking centre bearing next but not too sure about that. My car only has 56000kms on it and out of warranty unfortunately so no go with warranty. Gotta love the falcons, bloody diff thud is awesome hey!!! but that is another issue we all know of. Please help

I tell you what, im enjoying your XR6 Turbo now DRUXR6T haha!!!! Thanks for the car mate, haven't driven it much though, only put about 1000kms on her, can't remember the last time I filled it up
