yeh both are ideal... but torque makes a great streeter since im not revving its tits off on a daily basis to use the rwkw but im always using the torque... and torque will get me outta the hole at the drags but then again rwkw will keep me there... all fun and games either way I cant wait to just have somewhere I can use the new power
-
yeh because the rwkw on the same dyno run shows low and the torque high... makes sense :S
-
can sound whatever you want worm because the car feels fast.. and im making my torque than some people with well over 300rwkw running more boost so the pulling power is more than there... as I said ill see the mph and time at the drags... cheers everyone for the comments

yeh see I wanted reliabilty and safe from the word go so I went for a good cooler which set back my time of the tune and injectors a month or two :( I wish I had got joes advice as I would have got a full exhaust then tune and I would have been happy not to do anymore to the car... nar im feeling like I missing an essential mod as not knowing the factory exhaust is restrictive in a close loop tune. I would have liked to get more power with still a safe tune and is my own fault for thinking most stuff I read on forums is just how it is lol... never heard of close loop and open loop tunes so hey... something I have learnt... but still impressed of how ot drive on the road hows it feel with 300rwkw, hows your torque figure and curve mate?
-
I nearly bought a monza lol phew..
-
as I said he knows his stuff... obviously tuners dont tune with the safety features from ford as there seems to be alot of people just wanting those rwkw figures... I love having this much torque knowing that joes done it properly. Anyways lets see what the 1/4 mile says... thanks for that post too... clears things up a bit

webby324 is it low for 10psi though.. 270rwkw? bionicxr6t05 that sounds ok... sounds on the mark what do you have done?
-
worm I cant comment too much on the reason of the psi tuning as im not a tuner im just passing on what im told.... as for my mates car he is running 19psi with only 320rwkw and dunno where it was tuned but mine pulls harder that's all I can really say ? too many variables, what do you think my time and mph will be worm?
-
yeh ive seen heaps of people have there tunes with over 300rwkw with stock coolers or monzas which is why I thought it was a sure thing, but when I told him I have plazmaman cooler, k&n filter, high flow cat, 60lbs squirters he said should get around 260rwkw... I myself was shocked a little after reading others figures but turns out the factory computer showed it would lean out and was changing timing to something unsafe when more boost was added, he said if tuned in an open loop circuit which is what most tuners do I could have the numbers on a piece of paper and an unsafe tune, and he could change it but bypasses the factory safety features ford have programmed. So if I change to a 4" dump with my cat and a single 3.5" system the car will boost up itself to around 14psi and then can tune it to that. Made alot of sense when HE was explaining it lol.... but I think people might be forgetting that the figure isnt low for 10psi. I will be going to to eastern creek soon so what do people think ill run with my low power figure?
-
haha nar dont need to justify the power, its there. yeh he said if I went to another shop I could have had the rwkw numbers on paper. He said he can tune up to 15psi with stock actuator not a problem. As for why it didnt like it at 12lb is something to do with the way he tunes, he said the car wont go past 10psi without changing exhaust to do it safely, I mean yeh henz a catback might be enough but then im only left with changing the dump so id probably do both

well after seeing how joe tunes ive learnt rwkw is a wank factor really lol with the jump from 440nm to 711nm at the wheels it is now REALLY fast. He tunes in closed loop circuit so rather than just adding boost to the car to get power he uses all fhe factory safety parameters in the ecu from ford to ensure a safe tune. He did add 12lb to it but the car didnt like it and started to lose power. Theres another thing ill point out to is change your whole exhaust not just cat the whole system is restrictive. In order to run say 13-15 psi the exhaust needs to be changed to do it safely. Joe really knows his stuff and is one of the nicest guys ive meant.... and 270rwkw @10psi im happy with because I know my mates gunna be upset when I own his 320rwkw turbo, mines noticably faster Anyways very very happy with how the car goes, cheers.
-
well car pulled 270rwkw and 711nm @ wheels and on 10psi
-
yeh I think that's what joe said it would be roughly but every cars different, I drop her off tonight to get the exhaust done so pretty pumped about that lol... hows the xrskyline gettin along?
-
thumbs up for the finneys! yeh well since I had to remover the oem snorkel to fit the cold side piping im going to cut a hole into the front of the box as its still sucking from the hole on the left facing the hot engine bay :(

yeh dillz just standard intake with k&n filter

Just thought id post up as ive been waiting in anticipation for this to finally be under way. I have my car booked in for a tune and injectors with Crescent Motorsport this Saturday by Joe. Only other mods is a plazmaman cooler I put on 2 weeks ago and getting the cat changed and centre muffler replaced with straight pipes on Friday ( im aware no gains for muffler change just some exhaust note) . After alot of reading im pretty sure ill crack the 300rwkw but on how much boost I dont know. Any comments welcome... stay tuned

these are fantastic tyres, my brother works at a wheel and tyre place if any sydney members are after these... ill be changing to these soon as he showed me how fast you can go around a corner in the wet down a hill in an NF fairlane... I was sold after waiting anf waiting for the car just to let go and never did... very impressive

Does Bigger Intercooler = Retune Necessary
Finnyman replied to ZelchXR6T's topic in Intercooler Workshop
mate I just added a plazmaman pro series and cold side piping to my stock bf and runs great.... just changed the cooler so when I decide to tune her im ready to go. alex from plazmaman told me the cooler will run fine on its own, changing the cat and muffler will run fine on its own but not both together without tune... -
Thoughts On Aftermarket Bars And Skirts
Finnyman replied to envyit's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
yeh mate the general place people go to for sydney members is fibresports. Never heard of any negative feedback and panels are meant to line up pretty good. There is also Bogan special who are reputable as well. Hope this has helped :-) -
picked up my cooler and piping yesterday and yes very nice gear, should have it on in a couple weeks when I go to get exhaust mods and tune, hello 300rwkw .... went with silver cooler and black piping for stock engine bay look

im going to just pick it up when its ready... its close to me, can't wait for more boost :D

just wanted to post up that I went and ordered a stage 1 kit from plazmaman today and have never had better customer service before... Alex was a delight to deal with and would not purchase gear off anyone else for coolers, intakes and pipework... and can't wait to have it all fitted cheers

mate im a painter by trade and I only recommend 2pak paint. Mainly for durability and quality. Especially if your going to go gloss black you want a high gloss. I would rub all your parts wet with 1500p grit and then your edges and tricky bits with grey scotchbrite. Set your parts up to paint on something, wax and grease them well with one rag and wipe off with a clean dry rag. Apply your black basecoat until covered, let dry then apply 2 coats of clear... wallah! done!
