There is a chance that an image may be inprinted on the screen perminantly. Example, the score bar of a game, any still image on the game. But this is less of a problem with current models. As an example my rear Projection TV moves the picture slightly every 15 minutes (I haven't noticed it happening), thus minimising the possibility of getting an imprint. Plasma's suffer from this aswell.. If you want to see what the inprinting looks like, go into an arcade, find scud race (if it's still in the arcades, been years since I've been in one) and no doubt, if it's the rear porojection unit, you'll see "GAME OVER" inprinted on the screen when the background goes white. But personally, I am not too worried about it. It'd only be a worry if you play the same game everyday and watch nothing else. it only gets inprinted if it stays on the screen for AGES... like 48 hours but in games..... u dont have the same bar for more than mb 10 minutes at a time

my 2 cents dont say im a geek, I got this info 1 year ago from me uncle when its comes to LCDs and Plasmas, there are major differences between these two thingoes (cant think of word). It also depends on what you want to use the LCD or plasma for.. As you said aniken, you wanted a home entertainment system... im not 100% sure what you mean by "home entertainment system" are you going to Game (console or pc) and/or watch TV, dvds etc? surely you mite be thinking... what are the difference between LCD and plasmas. FIrslty, Plasmas are higher in definition (resolution- picture quality) but have a slower refresh rate then LCDs. THis makes plasmas sh*tty for gaming as you'll be WOAH!!! WOAH!!... where the hell am I, the screens gettin BLurry and you'll be thinking, am I losing my eyesight. On the other hand, LCDs have a faster refresh rate so it make it easier for you to game etc. However, if you'll be watching TV or DVD... the quality isnt As good as a plasma but I dont really think its that noticeable. one last thing... cro ... plasmas (good ones) can cost my signifcantly then LCDs (cos the technology is newer) and LCD pixels just burn up just like plasmas . Nowadays... plasmas and lcds can have be better than CRTs because of the cutting edge technology. CRTs are big, heavy and clumsy to carry although they are significantly more reliable and cheaper to repair... mb u think im talkin sh*t cos im 15 but that's my 2 cents and I hope that the information I am sharing can hlep u with selecting either a LCD or Plasma TV :D im hell tired mb I should get some sleep ( im english aint that good cos IM TIRED and I have plenty of Assignments to do :()
