  2. I have this problem on AUX since DEC 2002. FORD have still not come up with a fix. I was told at the time there was another car in Melbourne that Ford had been working on to resolve this problem. My AUX is used for the DVD player and it is totally useless. The whine is so bad that I cannot use this function at all. At one stage I did some testing of my own and discovered that the noise is comming through the the "battery 2" line. If a filter is placed in this line the problem goes away. I have been told by 2 dealers that Ford must approve the "MOD" before it can be utilised. I am very pissed off this very small problem.
  3. This is a common problem. Ford still have not officially resovled the problem with mine. I get the noise through the DVD only when played through the AUX channel (not through the headphones). It is comming through the BAT2 supply and is derived from the alternator. A filter will fix the problem but is not an official Ford mod as yet. I have been waiting for 12 months, lucky I didn't hold my breath.
  4. Don't forget this Sunday is the Ford Show 'n Shine in Canberra. We are still taking entries if anyone is interested. It is going to be one hell of a day. If you want to enter your vehicle drop me a line and I will forward all the details. We have over 50 vehicles lined up and trade displays to keep everyone happy. Public entry is by gold coin donation, and when you pay up you will get an entry form to vote for the peoples choice award with a chance to win a VB Racing jacket for yourself. :o
  5. They should be mounted on thier own block on the Pillar. They are obvious when you remove the cover. If they are not obvious then you do not have them. Ring the dealer so they will have them in stock when you go in. They should only take a few minutes each to install them. Are you missing any others? Do you have a sub?
  6. Single 3inch pipe through to a high flow cat through to a resonator through to a tip. All mandrel bends. Mild steel. Yes ... Sedan Yes .... Auto Cost was less than what I expected and was discounted as a favour through a friend. ACT exhaust is offering a 15% discount for ACT club members. Join Now Next meeting is on Thursday 5th June at Gregories 7:30pm if you want to have a look and a listen. Falchoon ... yes they are opposite Gregories in Braddon. Fuel economy has improved but by what percentage it is hard to tell (too early). Example Drove to Winton on the weekend and averaged 10.6l/100km . 2 months ago I drove to Wangaratta and averaged 12.8l/100km. The Winton trip was a full load 3 adults 2 kids full boot. The Wangaratta trip was just me and a tool box.

  8. I have had a new 3inch system fitted last week. From the turbo back, high flow cat, resonator, new tip, all mandrel bends. Sounds unbelievable. My economy is better as well (bonus). System was designed by ACT Exhaust in Braddon (Canberra). They also replaced all the mountings with something much more rigid than the standard Ford units. The entire system was painted black for asthetics. These guys know their stuff, I love it. Have no dyno info as yet..
  9. 15000km service. Brakes machined again. Ford dealer says FORD are aware of the problem and will not be replacing rotors until the problem is resolved. Then the MOD KIT will be fitted. Until then they will only machine the rotors. Another rattle in the heat shields - fixed Whine in the DVD playback - Still unresolved. Rattle down inside the dash - needs to be booked in for a full day for that one. Leaking boot - fixed. Software bug with the clock display on SATNAV. Clock is black on a black background when the headlights are on. Unresolved. Still driving it hard. Still loving the drive. Do I get an award for the most read/posted thread ??? 18 pages 266 replies 14700 views..... and counting.
  10. All you Canberra guys, why not come along to the FPV - Tickford Club meeting and join up. We had a dyno day today at Tuggeranong. I scored 194kw at the wheels . We are planning a cruise shortly and a show and shine for later in the year. It is a lot of fun and a great place to share ideas and learn a thing or two. ACT Club Page Meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at Gregories Ford in Braddon at 7:30pm. We only have 2 XR6T's at the moment and would like some more.
  11. Well there seem to be a few problem around. I had mine in at the dealer yesterday to get my problems sorted out. They replaced the front rotors and pads to fix the brake shudder. Replaced the switch module for the power windows that had broken a retaining clip. The high ptich noise turned out to be the windscreen seal at the top of the window... new screen and seal is on order. Alternator whine through the DVD(only when playing it throught the stereo) still has them confused. I keep telling them to add a quality noise filter to the back of the stereo but they insist that ford needs to suggest the solution , not the dealer or owner... a bit pissed off about that one. Window tint (one window needs to be redone) to be booked in at a later date .... not urgent.
  12. XR6T Blueprint Sat Nav Premium Sound Rex DVD Leather Paint protection, Tint, rust proofing etc... XR scuff plates XR mats Personalised plates arrived today. About to add a boot lid liner and slim weather sheilds. Just clocked over 6000km A few issues to sort out with the dealer tommorrow. This is going to be an interesting discussion. If anything comes out of it I will post it.
  13. Thought I might start a topic on common problems people are having with their XR6T. Just came back from the NSW south coast with shuddering brakes. I am pissed off that this has happened with 4000km on the clock. I will be booking it in to service this week and I will see what they have to say about it. Another problem I have is the window control module on the drivers door has popped out, the locking clip is broken and will not go back in. Intermittently when I unlock the car the drivers windows goes down- this may be related to the module? When travelling at 120-140km/h I occasionally hear a high pitch noise (sounds like a crook bearing in a fan). The noise is constant pitch and does not vary with engine revs. It will dissapear if I slow down or speed up beyond 140km/h. Alternator whine can be heard through the stereo when playing DVD's. This noise cannot be heard through the headphones. Ford are looking into a solution but as yet do not have one. Had a noisy heat shield at 500km.. fixed. What problems have you had?

  15. My 2 cents worth. After owning a VX GEN III Calais for the past 2 years and then buying the XR6T, give me the XR6T any day. It handles sooo much better. It does not accelerate off the mark as quick as the VX but it sure does moove once you get it going. I went for the leather, REX, Sat Nav, Premium Sound in Blueprint (auto). It gets an amazing amount of looks around town. I couldn't be happier. The only mod I intend to make is a custom exhaust.
