  1. Now that's the go mate !!! I will be changing mine over to that set up ASAP! Also in regards to the previous comment I did try to heat the pipe up to relieve the carbon deposit also but still didn't get it 100% so yea it's not worth the trouble for piece of mind of $135 for a new pipe I recon.
  2. $5500 wow Anyway mate I just brought a service exchange GT354 off turbo tech in Perth for $1650 all up good as new. Just make sure you replace your oil lube pipe and screen from the block to the turbo when you fit the newy. $135 for pipe and $60 for screen bolt. Get new studs etc as well. XR6 diff hmmm another one down!!! Mine's shot to thanks to a failed pinion seal after a 800 k trip and what a crap set up need a full diff reset just to change the pinion seal, anyway sorry for going off topic a bit but it still amazes me that a 5 dollar seal costs so much effort to repace, dumb design IMO.
  3. Interesting read this topic , it does depend on a couple of other factors as well, namely what state you live in if you are buying from WA and if the colour was in black and ammac you could fetch 20K for the same car with 100k on the clock.IMO Cars are over priced over here :banghead:
  4. Well I wanted to buy the gauge cluster to fit to my Xr6T dash similar to the typhoon etc so I could primarily run a factory look boost gauge for my turbo but on going to Ford they say no way cannot buy them as FPV won't release them unless you actually own a FPV wtf???? Ok whatever the muppets wanta do there at ford?, so my question anyone know of a generic cluster that fits the Xr6 dash gauge area in the middle there? Is this story true you can't buy them anywhere off Ford? thanks in advance
  5. Hi I know this is a old post but just sorta found this site after having been asking myself the same questions as to "why!" I just recently siezed a turbo in my XR6 because of this oil feed pipe, funny enough it wasn't the screen that was blocked it was the actual pipe it was 90% blocked I also put it in petrol to dissolve the build up and tried blowing it out with the compressor but never managed to clear it completely!! weird huh. Maybe a cabmium bath or something for cleaning? Anyway I just thought stuff it and brought the new piple off coventry's for $135 don't go to Ford they charge $175. I also brought the new screen bolt as I couldn't get any type of circlip plier into that little sucker to get the screen out , I back flushed it but just decided to put a new one on anyway. Also my car had just done 100k service 1k ago so I asked the question of Ford also do you clean this pipe/screen on any service , reply " no we don't" well you should !!!! was my reply. I am pretty amazed at these guys why they would intergrate this into there servicing it just baffles me but then again I hate the ford dealerships anyway. Also not sure why they say not to run with a gasket between the turbo housing and exhaust header? Seems a little weird also I placed one on mine can't see it being a problem? Also I have changed my oil now from the recommended 10w 30 to mobil 1 0w 40 cause I recon that garret needs all the oil it can get at start up. Got my Turbo from Turbo tech service exchange for $1650 and all's sweet now.Lesson learned albiet expensive! The thing that I found the biggest *beep* in the swap out was the "h" bracket design from the front engine mount to the bottom 2 bolts on the turbo /exhaust housing man if those studs seized in the exhaust manifold housing and diddn't come out with the nuts you would be in some trouble removing the turbo, and the bottom stud on the hot side of the turbo that attaches the turbo exhaust to the turbo is the biggest pr1ck to install!!!! Took me some swearing and about an hr just to get it done up.. Anyway will be cleaning this pipe now every couple of services. Also I replaced the copper washers to the oil pipe screen bolt with doudy washers so they would be easier to remove in the future, I.e won't bind up so tight on the pipe. Well that's the theory at least. What a great site and a good thread this one is I would recommend everyone checking this pipe and cleaning it because I'm sure there is alot of money down the drain here because of a 200 buck screen and pipe!!! Also to comment on the quote above "I am even looking at a inline pressure gauge to put in the line near the front just so I know there is a flow of oil going to the turbo.." Not sure if that would help you mate as in my case the pipe was blocked at the last 90` bend to the banjo bolt at the turbo and even if you had your pressure gauge you could still read pressure at the sender but it wouldn't tell you you had a block would it?? I recon some sort of oil flow sender fitted to that pipe would be the go anyone ever done this????? great site !!
