  2. fix for 3 years. the markets change quickly. Make sure you budget so you can still afford the loan with an interest rate of 10-12%........just in case.

  5. Mate I waited until after my warranty to get the edit. I regret not getting it done earlier. The way I see it, some people have no problems with just an edit and some people do have problems (me)......so it wouldnt matter if it was under warranty or not becuase if your car doesnt like an edit then your gonna have to pay anyway. I think your concern should not be about the warranty......but should be about having enough cash to fix things that break. If the answer is Yes then get the tune now, if the answer is no then don't get the tune.
  6. yep.....it is overboost because the same thing happened on my T. It fried my valve springs. But it was a lot of fun up unitl then.
  7. dude, so what if it's cheap! just but an BF T. One thing I have learned is just buy a fast car from the begining. You might end up spending the same amount in the long run.....but with much less hassle. Resale value might be an issue also.
  8. My valve springs died a few months go and were replaced $800. Symptoms included missing at high rev's. I think some people might call it surging or pinging, I'm not to sure but when the rev's hit about 4500 the motor would miss. It didnt have any problems idling. valve springs fixed it.
  9. Mate, I actually used to work for Optus standard DSL tech support. It was so easy to setup a static IP, just a few clicks and 5 minutes later it was done. Since Optus moved to ADSL2.......what a joke. Optus is owned by Singtel (biggest telco in Asia).....so they decided to use the same networking provisioning software and just modify to Australian conditions. I left 2 years ago and they still havent got their crap together. I was getting staff discount on ADSL2 even after I left.......it's not worth it. Change providers.
  10. I go to the car wash and use my own sponge. I use their high pressure hoses to just rinse. I have been doing it for years.
  11. I recently had my car polished from a well known car restorer in my area. I have black T and have been battling swirl marks for a while. I have seem some paint protection products that claim to remove swirl marks and protect then paint for years. I haven't tried any yet but might consider it on my next new car. The polisher claims that paint protection is no good for modern cars because it will restrict the paint from breathing. He claims that regular polish (he recommended some new Maguire’s synethic wax, not carnauba wax) is the best way. He compared regular polishing to moisturizing skin and paint protection is like wrapping skin in glad wrap. How true do you think this is?
  12. Hey, I have a BA 5 spd T with 241rwkw. What kind of 0-100km/h time should it be doing. I'm comparing it to specs of other model cars.
  13. Good question! When the tuner said I needed better valve springs I assumed they would put some aftermarket springs. When the job was done I asked what kind of springs did they use and that's when they said they used BF springs on all there BA upgrades. Maybe they used BF springs because I told them that an edit is as far as moding I'm gonna go.
  14. After two days the tuner said that while the car was on the dyno the valve springs kept giving way. They told me that BA springs are known for being useless. They replaced them with the same springs from a BF.........and they changed the spark plugs. It's all good now.

  16. not a fan of Jarvis. I went in for a service with a KN air filter.............walked out with a standard air filter!!! They denied I ever had one! No, I didn't put the special sticker on the air box but you would think mechanic would know it was KN!

  19. sell and get a T. don't stuff around. Also I don't think standard XR6 has a LSD.
  20. Yeah I got the tune done at KPM. It was all good for a few weeks then it started pinging. KPM spent two days trying to figure it out. They claim it was the valve springs. Anyway I flashed the car back to standard and it was all good for a few months but today it started pinging again...........with no tune! stock as a rock. It's not under warranty anymore. Should I go to Ford to get them to check it out? I know it will cost me.
  21. A few months ago I bought my first CAPA box and had it installed plus got a custom tune (98 RON). After I left the workshop it was perfect, 241rwkw. After a couple of weeks I noticed the car started to ping at high revs. I took it back to the tuners and discovered that the valve springs were the cause. I didnt really want to spend more dollars to install new valve springs so I decided to just leave the car stock and give the box to a friend. I noticed today that my car has started to slightly ping again at high revs. My car is stock. Do you think the valve springs are now just really warn out? Something I should also mention, my car stock on the tuners dyno was 215rwkw.
