If the 2 fluids mix, you'll have trans fluid mixed with coolant in your coolant reservoir/expansion tank. If you see this, then yeah, too late. Don't even bother trying to flush it, you'll just waste your time and money. I also would not be putting that PWR unit on my car. I'm aware PWR make quality gear, but IMO the product hasn't been out long enough to be proven. I'm skeptical I guess. It features the same design really as the factory one, but obviously with a better core, but if it fails and your trans goes, are PWR going to replace the trans for you? No, they're not. I guess because I had this problem knowing what sort of cost and drama it was to rectify, it has scared me from ever using anything even remotely close to that factory design. I do not want any chance of coolant getting into my box again. What I've done is use an air-to-oil cooler. I've been running this for a few years now without a single problem, and no chance of a milkshake, ever. Plus it's a much cheaper solution than that overpriced PWR unit.

Thanks fellas, called up Shannons today and they gave me an agreed value of 20k for my BF paying 1600 a year. This was the lowest they were willing to go, as it actually came up as 1800 but he knocked 200 off it. I decided to go with them as it's the best quote I've received so far and I think the agreed value is pretty fair considering the age of the car. I asked what's driving up the cost of my insurance as everyone is giving me high quotes, and he reckons it's the state. Victoria is the dearest in the country apparently. I have a 21 day cooling off period, so I'm still going to ring up a few other places to see what I can get, but I don't think I can get better than this.

I'm 28 so that's out of the question for me. Need someone who will allow mods.

Guys, need some help with insurance. Insurance renewal was due recently, and I decided not to pay it because AAMI wanted to charge me just over 2k with an agreed value of 15k. Mods listed on the policy are cooler, CAI, wheels, brembos, lowered suspension and factory options (sat nav, leather and premium sound). Tried to talk to AAMI and they told me they couldn't do a better price, and told me to try elsewhere, so I did. I called up Lumley Special Vehicles, gave them the same details, told them it's garaged every night and gets driven 1-2 times per week. Their quote was a whopping 2.2k with an agreed value of 18k. FYI, just some details about me, I'm 28, have a clean driving record, last speeding fine was over 5 years ago, I do not live in a dodgy area and have never made a claim. Any idea what would be driving up the cost of my insurance? 2.2k is an absolute joke.

Yeah mate Whiteline do one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-WHITELINE-FPV-XR6-TURBO-XR8-BA-BF-FG-REAR-CONTROL-ARMS-SY-BLADE-ARMS-/261784722050?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item3cf395da82 A few people in this thread have used them and seem happy. Would be cheaper than buying a set of Superpro ones and getting them fitted.
-
haha that's awesome. This will do it too...it was just more of a heads up to those who have done a lot of K's in their cars to get them checked out as they'd most likely be rooted. FWIW, my car has done 80, 000km and they were gone. Ah yes, forgot about that! You're right, the cables run under the back seat on each side. You unplug then push the rubber grommet through the hole and pull the cable out.

I used Superpro competition ones, found here: http://www.superpro.com.au/superpro-parts/?p=superpro-bushing-kit-spf3182k&view=part&id=SPF3182K&cid=999500234&vid= They also do a standard replacement. The blades themselves can be removed fairly easily. 3 small bolts connect them to the IRS subframe and the bush end connects to 2 large bolts on the body of the car. You'll need a press to remove the old bushes and fit new ones though.

Sending you a PM mate, don't wanna go off-topic here. Much better isn't it? I remember when mine was standard (with the flogged diff bushes), I could stand on my towbar and make the car bounce up and down. Once I replaced them all with Superpro, I stood on the towbar and the car barely moved. When I took my standard blade bushes out, they were well and truly flogged and were almost as bad as my diff ones (which practically disintegrated in my hand when I took them out lol). I'd say if your car has done a fair few K's, definitely get these checked out.
-
haha but I'd be adding weight to the car and making it slower!
-
Hey Pat! Nah, the bushes were tightened under load (whilst the car was on the hoist, I simply placed a transmission jack under each hub and began to lift until the car started to lift). Sounds like it might have been the towbar then. Really annoying, as I had a new circlip groove cut into my front shocks to raise them 10mm higher to make up for the difference in height to the rear, now the rear has bumped up around 10mm as well so the height difference is still there (and rear looks crap). Hub to guard at rear is now around 345mm with SSSL springs! Any way to get around this? I currently have no spare wheel in my boot though, got one sitting in my garage just need to get a tyre on it. The wheel is a 19" FPV rim. If I put this in the boot, will the ride height at the back drop at all? I'd just like to get it back to what it was previously (around 335mm).

I've just done the whole rear end on mine and when my car came off the hoist, it definitely sat higher in the rear. I figured it just hasn't settled yet after coming off the hoist, but I went for a drive for a while, came back, parked the car, checked on it afterwards and still the same. I did take off my towbar at the same time, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with it, although I doubt it as a towbar doesn't weigh much. I'm gonna check it in the morning and see if it's changed at all.

Wow, that's a big split! Manufacturing fault is definitely possible, and sounds like it was the case with yours. It does happen. Dunno about new diffs being whiny. I was always under the assumption that a diff in good nick should be quiet on a solid Superpro bush, and that was certainly my experience and that of a few others. My car has around 80, 000km on the clock. Sounds like it might just be luck of the draw to be honest.
-
There's your problem. You already had a stuffed/noisy diff, just couldn't hear it on stock bushes. I'm no expert, but from what I understand, a solid bush will only transmit noise that is already there, so if your diff is quiet, you shouldn't really hear anything by going to a solid diff bush (maybe slight noise, but nothing like you describe). My dad's AU makes the same noise you speak of, and he runs stock bushes. His diff is farked. Some time ago, I went for a drive in this bloke's F6 that was kitted out with Superpro solid diff bushes, and I couldn't hear anything. Had the same experience in another car as well. It's what inspired me to go that route on my car. I'm actually surprised you split a solid one to be honest. That thing looks really heavy duty. Do you know if your outrigger bushes were installed correctly? I'm wondering if that might have had anything to do with it. How is your car now with the comfort version?

Installing Superpro Front Lower Control Arm Inner Rear Bush
xpl0sive replied to xpl0sive's topic in Suspension and Handling
Hey Ralph, Gave your method a shot with a new set of bushes today, after keeping them in the freezer overnight and they went in a treat! Slid in pretty easily initially, but at around 3/4 of the way in it got really tight and I just watched the poly compress right down like a pancake and almost bulge over the lip. Sh!t myself, but decided to keep tightening anyway as I had no other choice given it was almost all the way in. Went in eventually with no damage to the bush. Just an FYI, I called Superpro/Fulcrum to confirm the correct way to fit these bushes, more as a precaution so that I don't fark up a second set and be out of pocket twice and they also confirmed they press them in directly on the poly bit of the bush and that if it splits it means there's something wrong with it. Thankfully the big front ones were a breeze to install. Cheers for your help! -
Mate there's been quite a few guys, both on these forums and elsewhere that have split the comforts. I personally think they're a waste of time, especially if your car is modded. Superpro state lifetime warranty on their site though, so they'd probably replace it for you, but no point since you've got solids in there now. I actually just completed the full Superpro upgrade in my car tonight. I've had the rears done for a couple of weeks now, but did the fronts today. Like you, I went full solid for the bushes and changed every single one. I haven't driven with the fronts yet as I just finished fitting them tonight, but went for a drive when I did the rear end and there was no NVH increase at all, and I was definitely listening for it. Had my windows up, music off, but couldn't hear anything. Drove nicer than standard actually and still just as quiet. c*nt of a job to do though! I hope these don't fail coz I never wanna do it again lol.
