  1. From a design perspective, how hard is it to make a wagon variant of a sedan ? No very. If you look at a Camry wagon side on, you can see the outline of the sedan. It's just a matter of fitting an extra section to the back of the car and beefing up the rear suspension to take more payload. Rear crash safety shouldn't be an issue if the FG got a 5 star rating.

    Laptop Rebate

Do you have a sibling in high school ? That's the only loophole I can think of.
  3. New Coyote engine specs: Power: 395hp (294kw) @ 6600RPM Torque: 365lb.ft (494Nm) @ 4350RPM No doubt that's going to make a 1550 kg Mustang fly like a rocket, my guess is 0-100 in 4.2 seconds. On the Falcon, this engine would require more torque, esp. at low revs, so my money is on supercharging.

    Speeding Fine.

I wish you luck, sometimes it's the principle, you have to stick up for what you believe is right.
  5. According to redbook: http://redbook.com.au/used-cars/details.aspx?R=62564&__Qpb=true&Cr=1&__Ns=p_Make_String|0||p_ClassificationType_String|0||p_Family_String|0||p_Year_String|1||p_SequenceNum_Int32|0&SearchAction=N&__N=2994%204294961316%204294843582%204294965327%204294842636%204294958652&silo=1300&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=6&__sid=12799F2D8FF7 1.3K - 2.8K. You have low kilometres, so you may be able to sell it for 3K.
  6. The RTA is a symbol of government stupidity and greed.

    Victoria Licence

Oh. Did I mention that an Indonesian license entitles one to drive in Australia ? (with infinite demerit points) Not bad for a $500 card. Of course, if you're an Australian resident with a license suspension, it'd be very sus.
  8. Isn't it easier to just pour water on your pants, and say you were busting for a leak ? Plus your car seats won't get dirty once you dry out. But thanks for the concept, I'll carry a bottle of water in my car from now on.
  9. So if I move to the States .... 2 things I'll miss about Australia: my mates & the Falcon. Things I wont miss: overpriced cars, overpriced everything else, speed cameras. *Sigh* There was so much less of that bullsh1t 20 years ago.

    Victoria Licence

My friend from Indonesia got his license at 15, by giving $500 to a guy at the motor registry centre (in his home country). The irony is that it costs way more to get a license legitimately in Indo, hence the "Rupiah Handshake" is quite common.
  11. If this car has the handling and grunt of a mini, without the price tag I think it would be quite a worthwhile purchase.
  12. Great car, if I wanted an affordable track attacker it'd be either this or a WRX. So how fast is an MX-5 with a turbo ? (0-100 and 1/4 mile times)
  13. Go to the wreckers, whip out ya shiv and slice a seat belt metal clip off the belt in a wreck and pocket it. Yes, that is actually the best solution. I wouldn't take any risks by tampering with the circuitry.
  14. As good as the 4L I6 is, its dimensions are too awkward too transplant into most cars. You've got a better chance of fitting the LS1 6L into most lightweight cars. On a BMW forum, one guy managed to cram the Corvette motor into a 3 series with space left over (for a supercharger!). There was a youtube video of an early 80's Corolla (back when it was actually RWD) with an old Expensive Daewoo 5.7L in it - now that's got power to weight.
  15. I simply don't see why Ford can't globally adopt the Falcon as their large RWD vehicle. It would be a cheaper alternative to Cadilacs and BMWs. And WTF was wrong with Ford when they decided to fund the R and D project for the FWD Taurus - it would have been much more cost effective to adopt the Falcon. The only engineering work required would be a LHD conversion. FWD is gay gay gay (x100).
  16. XR, I totally agree. Ford definitely need a RWD sedan for the world market, although I wouldn't mind if it was smaller, I;d love an Aurion sized Falcon if it meant less weight and better handling. Something slightly smaller would sell better in Europe too. I can see Australia adopting Camry/Aurion taxis and cop cars if the Falcon gets axed. 2 weeks ago, I saw a Camry cop car in Circular Quay, I really should have taken a photo of it.
  17. I want one too
  18. I don't think global warming bears any relevance to us performance fanatics. We're gonna drive powerful cars till the world boils over. Additional notes: * Vehicles contribute 11% of total man made emissions. * The energy required to build a vehicle is equivalent to 10 years of emissions. In that respect, buying a 2nd hand muscle car is greener than buying a new Prius for first 10 years.
  19. Good luck I say. We all claim to be die hard Ford fans, but AMG sh1ts on FPV ... who wouldn't take the Merc for a similar price
  20. Petrol expands as temperature rises. You don't want expanding petrol to deform the tank and leave it susceptible to leaking. That's why you never fill the tank to the brim. It's a bit like people lowering cars till they scrape the road just for an extra 0.01 G of grip. Pretty stupid.
  21. Yeah, what current AWD rally cars for the road lack is low end torque. You have to rev evos and wrxs to get the torque out. Now Ford have a torquey inline-5, and hopefully a torquey 2.0L they'll fit into the new Falcon. Wouldn't it be great to have an AWD Focus that launches and overtakes like an XR6T and goes around the track like an sti.
  22. I hope it's AWD. I don't wanna see any FWD crap come out of FPV.
  23. I hear ya. Nothing against competent older drivers, but several times, I've been held up in one lane traffic only to later realise there was an old man at the front driving at half the speed limit. Tickets should be issued for people who drive slow with no proper reason.
  24. The Germans have the right idea. An appropriate speed is a safe speed - hence the Autobahns. From what I've heard, in Germany if you're going 20km/h over the limit and it's an empty straight road, the cops won't care. It's only natural to drive slightly faster on an empty road.
  25. I found a dried tree leaf in my fried noodles.
