  1. Sh1t happens .... you guys have probably heard of the learner who rammed into a bus crowd and then into an ANZ bank in Kogarah. Same mistake, accel for brake.
  2. Genuine Ford tissues - hahahaha, something tells me Ford isn't the brightest of companies. What I've actually wanted is genuine Ford sunglasses. Right now I'm driving a Falcon whilst wearing Expensive Daewoo sunglasses. They're actually a pretty good fit: $30 each from Big W and they're more reliable than my friend's Expensive Daewoo car.

    Joke Of The Day

I've got a few quick Q & A's What do you call a hot gay guy ? What do you call a hot lesbian ? What do you call a gay dinosaur ? What do you call a lesbian dinosaur ?
  4. AWD is certainly enticing, I just hope it's something sensible like 60/40 -- Rear/Front torque split. Not like a Lincoln AWD that normally has 100% FWD, and only sends torque to the rear wheels when the front losses traction. It'd be good to have this upmarket SHO alongside the Falcon XR6T. But no one wants the regular FWD Taurus.
  5. That's gotta suck big time, I hope insurance covered it all. There are some people in this world who deserve to be tossed into a car compactor.
  6. You're a funny guy, Smicky. I have a friend studying solar engineering and she drives a green diesel euro car. She's a bit of a hippy ... and she warned me not to rev my car at the lights and emit unnecessary CO2, or she'd b*tch slap me. May be you can show her your F6 one day.
  7. I think it's quite a cool concept, wouldn't mind driving one. But it's a pity that car costs > $100K. Even if energy costs for the car are negligible, that money can buy you and F6 and cover 5 years of running costs.

    Australia Day

I'm getting $50/hr for Helpdesk work later this evening. That shift will cover more than half the cost of my upcoming 4x tyre change. There are better ways to spend Aus Day, but I can't complain.
  9. That story's ancient history. I think the 2008 FG XR6T (seen various quotes of 5.1 to 5.4s) and the 2009 370Z (0-60 mph in 5.1s as quoted by Edmunds.com) would be more or less neck and neck in a drag race. But the Z would probably be faster around corners because of its lower centre of gravity and lower weight. But I'd buy the T, it's some 25K cheaper, has more interior room, and less likely to catch the attention thieves and paint scratching ar$eh0les.
  10. Yeah, guess the I6 is an obstacle. But here's the thing, some BMWs use I6 engines, and they are made in both RHD and LHD. Expensive Daewoo managed to pull it off with their V6 and V8 commodores, rebadged as Pontiac in the US. I think it's quite possible, but it'd require quite a large investment to pull off.
  11. Damn right, and it's been proven many times that the Falcon XR6 Turbo > Late model camira SS. That Late model camira is rebadged and sold as the Ponatic G8 GT in the US - and is becoming an iconic car over there, think would the superior Falcon could do. But so far, Ford cheaped out and decided against making a left-hand drive Falcon for export.
  12. Haha, guess that's one of the few advantages an FWD has over a RWD. FWD has no tail shaft to catch the mattress springs.
  13. Just watch this video review by drive.com.au http://media.drive.com.au/?rid=44061 They're playing a lot on emotional judgement rather than facts at times e.g. "the falcon feels old". Those judges don't represent enthusiasts and aren't willing to let the little things slide.
  14. You're definitely right about that. 75% of my friends couldn't give a damn about performance, they just want low running costs and something that works. Who are my friends ? 21 year old uni students like me, some even study mechanical engineering and don't care deeply if their car is mediocre.
  15. The best products on the market aren't always the most well known. We all know the torque Falcon engine whoops the arse off the accord's V6, but journalists like to b*tch about exterior appeal and "not looking like a fleet car". But in the end, wheels magazine tries to appeal to the broader audience, not just enthusiasts. I'll admit, if I wasn't a performance enthusiast, I'd end up buying a Toyota Aurion - best bang for buck car on the market.
  16. http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...193&IsPgd=0 Sorry to break the mood with another bad news thread, the almightly I6 Falcon could be replace with a half-arsed V6 FWD Taurus . There's a market for large FWD V6s and they prefer Aurions and Accords. The Falcon is the highlight of Ford in Australia. It'd really suck, if we had to look to Holden (if GM survives) for affordable performance.
  17. Unless you have a friend in the industry, I'd try discountnewcars.com to find a good deal from a local dealer. They offer a discount over the RRP, but right now, 08 plated Fords also get $3000 factory cash back.
  18. Thanks buddy, I'll PM Senna. Yeah, I'm replacing the lost 2nd key.
  19. Nah, I didn't go through with it, you know any places where I can get a good price for spare keys ?

    New Members Thread

Hey guys, I'm 21 and studying mech engineering at UNSW. Bought an '06 BF XT last month. I'm hoping to buy a new XR6 turbo soon after I graduate in 2011. Hopefully Ford won't replace that kick arse I6 engine.
  21. You know you're driving a ford, when it costs $300 to get a new set of keys. The guy who gave me the quote said "It cost yarr $100 for the remorrte, $100 to code the remorrte, $100 for the key, but we'll code the key for free". Damn right they should code the key for free, the car manual explains how to do it. I felt like telling him, I'll give you $100 for the lot or you can go f ck yourself.
  22. Mondeos are cool looking cars, but you'll be disappointed by the performance. The '07 turbo version does 0-100 in 7.5s , that's about the same time as an XT. I don't think the 08 version will be much better. (see http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/wheels/site/ar...fullarticle=yes ) But if you like it not for it's performance, why opt for a turbo ?
  23. Hey dude, St George Area. Two roads from memory - The Grand Pde, Ramsgate (where I got busted) and Woniora Rd, Hurstville (where some other bloke got pulled over). As for the Camry, like I said, it was my dad's car - he cheaped out. haha. I've been itching to get a 6 cylinder and finally got one after a year of working.
  24. For an xr6 that's pretty damn cheap, they go for at least 14K at pickles auctions. If you're worried about the high kms, get it inspected by a specialist (normally costs $200)
  25. I bought my car a month ago from Pickles auctions (ex-fleet / 125000 km / full service history), and recently, I've noticed these issues. Brakes grinding > This only happens if I brake gently, I can feel vibrations through the pedal. If I push it hard, it feels firm and doesn't vibrate. > Usually happens at night or cold day. > After driving a few k's, the grinding stops and the brake feels normal again. Diff > If I reverse and brake hard, I hear a loud thumping noise from the rear of my vehicle, some websites say it's the diff. Handbrake > Needs to be pulled quite hard when parking on a slope It's the first time I've owned a falcon, so are these normal characteristics or should I get my car checked ?
