    Bargain

Whenever I see a scammer, I'm tempted to sign up their email at dubious websites.
  2. I thought HSV owners were bogans.
  3. http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...62920&vf=12 This new V8 looks good on paper, let's hope it can live up to it.
  4. As long as you claim it's necessary for work, it's fairly easy to get approval. I know a guy on his red Ps who got approval to drive a Mercedes AMG claiming it was needed for work. His reason was that he was a financial consultant and needed to look prestigious when visiting clients. He got his boss's signature and it was all good. This was in NSW, I'm sure it's not too different for Vic. It also helps if the high powered vehicle is the only vehicle that you own.
  5. Rockdale Ford Service Centre can shove that $300 replacement key set up their seedy arses. Locksmith - $130 for the key Ebay - $40 for the remote
  6. Ford staff and friend discounts kick arse, I'd probably take one too if it weren't for the dreaded P plate restrictions.
  7. Trading post has a lot of scams too, these are too easy to pick out. BMW 320i ('06) for 8K Expensive Daewoo Monaro ('05) for 7K Audi TT Quattro ('00) for 6.5K Ford Mustang Shelby GT ('07) for 9K
  8. If you ask me, I don't think it looks too bad - definitely gives your xr6t a distinctive look. But the spokes look a little skinny for the bulk of the Falcon body. But above all, the important thing is that you like them.
  9. Wish I had your luck, once a squadron of seagulls flying really high managed to land a sh*t on me.

    Why An Xr6t?

I said the WRX handles better. But honestly, I don't know how R8 handling compares to the XR6T. I'd like feedback from someone who's driven both (without the Ford fanatic bias).

    Why An Xr6t?

Yeah, I'm a uni student too. I fell in love with the Falcon after buying an '06 XT, a much needed upgrade from the family Camry, and better driving experience than Commodore. All things considered, the XR6T is a refined daily driver that's heaps fun to flog. Once I finish uni, 1 or 2 years of full time work should get me the money I need, weekend job would help too. *Subaru WRX - PROS: great corner, similar 0-100 times as XR6T, high resell. CONS: the hoon/doof-doof stigma, too harsh for daily driver. *HSV R8 Clubsport - PROS: dirty cheap 50K now that GM is in deep sh1t, decent V8 car. CONS: it's a Holden, less low down torque. *Late model camira SS - see above. *XR6T - PROS: insane torquey turbo engine, kick arse induction noise with light mods, refined driving experience, ZF transmission. CONS: cornering not as good as WRX, brakes could be better, German components may be expensive to replace.
  12. Speaking of displacement ... meet the Dodge Tomahawk, 8L V10 engine on a motor bike. No replacement for insanity either.
  13. I think you could squeeze out more fuel economy if you really tried. If you shift into neutral while moving along a down slope at 100km/h, your instaneous fuel reading can drop to as low as 2L/100km. Suck on that, Prius owners.
  14. Rancidpunx. Little kiddies are ignorant. Really cracks me up sometimes. "It's a V8 so it's gotta be better than a 6". "I don't know what a turbo is, but my daddy's V8 Late model camira is da best". They have no f*cking clue about physics, they judge car performance based on max speed and not acceleration. Heck, I know a guy who's 21 and thought the same way, I had to give him a lesson in physics.
  15. I really love the XR6T too much. If I were to think logically, I'd buy a new WRX for driving to work and the track; and make do with an ex-fleet XR6 for road trips and carrying large loads.
  16. I agree, Matt just intended to do her, he's not the big crook. It's those other dirty bastards who walked in that deserve to get their arses caned. But you could argue that Matt should've done something like tell the others to piss off.
  17. It depends on whether or not they axe the I6 engine, and even if they do, it's wont be worth a legendary amount. It'd just feel kind of special to own one. Nissan Skyline GTR '92: 110K new, 20K now. And this is the iconic car that got banned from Bathurst for being too good. http://redbook.com.au/used-cars/details.as...2&silo=1300
  18. 10K lost in just the first year, value halves in 3 years. Can't say I didn't expect it. * I've compiled the figures taken from redbook, taking the latest version from each year. For the new price, I estimated 43K-48K from posts in the driveaway price thread.
  19. With the Audi R8 V12 turbo diesel gone, this car will fill the gap nicely 170K is kind of cheap for a car of that calibre, there are reasons why it isn't 80K as you'd like: 1. Low volume production car - you get smaller discounts for buying parts in low numbers 2. Overhead costs (R&D, staffing, equipment costs, etc) spread over a smaller revenue base. 3. Taxes 4. Making it dirt cheap won't necessarily draw in enough extra customers to increase the total profit.
  20. 18835 Y M XR6 Turbo Sedan (6MT) 46,990 35,262 - F*cking awesome ! Pity I'm still on my green Ps.
  21. If you like V6s, get a Late model camira or Aurion. The I6 makes the Falcon unique. Sure, for similar displacements, a V6 can rev higher than an I6. And ultimately, it is possible to tune the V6 to a higher max power. But higher max power doesn't guarantee better performance. The new Falcon XR6 and the Late model camira SV6 both have 195kW, but the Falcon reaches 100km/h in 7.2s, the Late model camira in 8.2s. The I6 has more low rev torque, which means you floor it an the rush is instantly there - no need to wait until the engine revs up. Oh, and you get close to BMW smoothness for under half the price.
  22. I read an article that said the I6 was safe till at least 2013/14. Four years is plenty of time to save 50 grand. Fark, can't find that article anymore.
  23. A couple of my buddies drive without their P plate. As long as you don't stir up any trouble, why would cops stop you ? But if you get caught: NSW: 7 demerit points + $400 fine VIC: 4 demerit points + $1100 fine

    V8 Power

V8's are cool for setting off car alarms, inline 6s are way too quiet.
  25. And I thought Sydney had it bad, I really do feel sorry for you Melbourne folks. Back in the early 90s, my workmate did Gosford to Sydney in 50 minutes (170km/h) Good old times.
