Hmmm, mate you bought a new car and never bothered to test drive it :banghead: OMFG. (Na, only jokin', you'll love every minute of it).
-
Yeah and the beggars will be replacing mine as well at the 15,000ks service.

Gday Mate, Mine now has just over 12,000klms on it and don't have the tow pack, so can't comment there. However, I do notice mine will harshly change back into 1st gear if I'm on an incline and say the car is in 2nd, when I go to accelerate, yes, there is a bit of a harsh change back into first. This I imagine is the gearbox trying to hold the current gear it's in while coasting up the incline. it's only when I accelerate that it changes down and the harsh change occurs. I also have the dreaded timing cover oil leak (only minor) and will have fixed at the 15,000ks service. Apparently pretty coomon on early builds, due to the numbnuts on the assembly line putting the incorrect length bolts in. Other than the warped glovebox lid issue (also apprently common on them) and occasional non operation of the reverse camera (only done it two or three times) everything else is great. I really love the car in general and have no major complaints. Cheers

Just thinkin' the same thing!! Maybe show the car during the day in the same way the others were stolen, then park the "bait" in/around the same area and sit off the car and watch. Hopefully the scum buckets would take the bait.

Go Lightning Strike (but I'm biased )

Mate if the dealer says yeah, yeah no problems we'll cover the standard warranty with that mod, get them to put it into writing. If they're prepared to do that, your bum is covered (although I doubt there would be any that'd do it).

Glad you are enjoying the car, mine has 10,300ks now and just keeps getting/feeling better. As for the seat issue, yeah I had the same problem when I first got the car. I mucked around for ages setting each key for me and my wife. It does work and you have to follow the manual to the letter to set it correctly. It sounds like you have set a position that it keeps returning to, so you might need to start over from the beginning. Just follow the manual to the letter (I had my wife read out the instructions as I set it) and it will work. Mines been set since Aug 08 and has no problems. As for the fuel sender issue, I think mine's okay and reports correct fuel levels. I also have the out temp problem, as I think it's around + or - 4 degrees out. It's 4 degrees outside now and the temp guage is sitting on 0C, so it's got to be 3 or 4 out. I'm going to list all the small issues I have when I get the 15,000ks service, these being: 1. Temp module showing incorrect temps. 2. ICC (very) occasionally will not show reverse camera view, screen just stays blank, but sonar beeps work okay. Also on (maybe) two occasions, while driving, the screen has just gone blank and a stop/re-start of the engine has fixed it. Hopefully there is a software update (and/or a software reflash) that will sort it. 3. I'm also going to purchase my own oil (Castrol Edge 10w-60) and have them use that instead of the standard Castrol Magnatec they used when I had the oil changed at the 3,000ks check. According to the posts here and elsewhere, synth oil is better after the engine has reached 10,000 - 15,000 ks. That's really it I suppose, I can't fault the car otherwise, either mechanically, nor rattles or squeaks, just smooth and quiet really. The engine has "loosened" now and you can feel that by the "seat of your pants" sort of thing :hiwelcome:) when using WOT. Cheers

Yep born and bred in Newcastle (Mayfield to be precise) but left there forever in 1974 (tells my age huh!!) and joined the ACT coppers and then (2 years) later joined the Army. Spent 20 years as a Soldier and travelled to almost every corner of Australia and some overseas time. Now out of the Army and I live in cold, dry old Melbourne and haven't been back home for over 15 years. I must make it back one day before (well you know). Hope that counts towards being a Novocastrian Turbo owner .

No worries mate. At least you have her back in better order . I thought the T engines were basically hand built (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so you would have thought a bad piston cast would have been picked up.
-
So Smackers what exactly caused your engine to fail mate????? Details please.
-
Great Smackers, as you have said, make 100% sure you go over the car like a fine tooth comb. If it's in a workshop get 'em to take it outside in the light, go over EVERY panel carefully and inside the engine bay and cabin. Like you said if it isn't 100% tell 'em to fix it. Edit: BTW make sure they tell you what the problem was. I'd also ask to see the old engine as well, just so there's no question they fitted a new one.

Any updates Smacker?
-
Has he been in it yet???? Get him in it (don't worry, we'll visit ya in jail)
-
You know when you think about it, there must be thousands of T engines been built since they first started making them and I (personally) have not heard of a brand new one (well not with less than a 1,000ks on it) going bang. So it has to be a faulty part (piston, rod, dropped valve) or something like that. How was the oil level at the time it spat the dummy? I would assume it had been checked before delivery and I doubt it would chew through that much oil in 900 odd ks. Really strange.
-
Holy Flippen Hell Mate sorry to hear. Lets hope they get it back to you like new again and that it's a one off fault with your engine. Let us know exactly what the problem was that caused the engine failure. Very dissapointing to happen to a brand new car. Slightly O/T a previous 2003 Liberty 2.5 I owned from new sh@t it's clutch at 5,000klms and Subaru came to the party. So it's not just Fords. Keep us updated.

Very noice!!!!!!!
-
Congrats on the purchase mate!!! Hope you enjoy it.
-
I own one and I'm a little perplexed as to just why a G6ET promotes a "Grandpa Image" FFS Please enlighten me
-
There was some talk that the 09 models would have a locking cap. Mine (July 08) obviously doesn't, so let us all know if yours has it when you pick her up. BTW don't forget the photos.
-
Very nice mate, enjoy!!! I looked at the GT-E when I bought my G6ET and loved it, but a little out of my price limits (and the boss wouldn't have let me spend that many $$$$'s anyways :hiwelcome: ).
-
I have replaced all my interior, door, foot, number plate and boot globes with LED's and they look fantastic Now if only Matt can come up with a solution for the brake, indicators & reverse lights. Come on Matt where are you
-
Yep I run 40 all round.
-
Checked tonight, can't see any evidence of an oil leak.
-
I'm going to wash mine tonight so will check around the timing case cover in case.
-
Noice!!!!!!! Leave the stripes, suits the car and blends nice with the dark wheels.
