  1. Thanks heaps Mate.
  2. Gents, Thinking of upgrading dics/pads on my G6ET and wonder if a kind member could advise what tools I'll need for the job, ie: what size bolts are used to hold calipers and would ring spanners do the job or do I need sockets. Just want to make sure I have all the right tools required before I start the job. Any other advice on tools/other tips would be great. Cheers

  5. Nice car mate. With 1,200ks on it you can give it WOT no worries, just watch out for loss of traction, tyre wear and cops
  6. Very nice mate, love the look. I want a set of those wheels but one thing stops me!!!! The Boss Maybe you could talk to her on my behalf, explaining that I REALLY need a set of those wheels & tyres.
  7. Welcome to the Forum!! Nope, no auto up on the windows. I believe it's a safety feature so we don't get the kids heads jammed in the window or the bowls cardy caught in it As for the speedo, as said above, just set the readout to display the speed on the centre digi screen and all's fixed. Have over 17,000ks on mine now and still going as well (if not better) than the day I bought it.
  8. Apparently the IPhone has compatibility issues with the Ford BT. Maybe check with your dealer to see if you have the latest software for the BT.
  9. Why not ring them and ask??? I think you'll find they will want to know about any mods. Remember, if you make a claim and haven't told them, they can deny the claim for disclosure failure. Also remember you are obliged (ie: MUST) inform them of anything which may affect their decision to accept or continue cover on the car. If it were me, I wouldn't even contemplate it without checking with them first. If they agree, also remember to get the modifications cover IN WRITING on your policy. That way they can't say you have not informed them, if/when the crunch comes and you need to make a claim.
  10. Just adding to what everyone has said, if you do any mods and tell your insurance company and they say "yes, fine no problems" then get that put IN WRITING in an addendum to your insurance policy. That way in the event of the unthinkable happening, they cannot back out of an accident/total loss claim. It's all okay for an insurance CS person to say "it'll be fine" over the phone, but if it were me, I'd be insisting it be put into writing. I might sound extreme, but I previously worked in the insurance investigation game and I know EXACTLY what some insurers will do when the crunch comes.
  11. Hey!!!!!!!! You young 28 year old wipper snappers, enough of the "old" bit okay!!!!! I might be a fart with a Ford cardigan though.
  12. The only options on the G6ET is Sat Nav, 19 inch alloys and (I think) the Safety Pack (someone correct me here if I'm wrong) which is adjustable peddles or something. No LSD, no, but I honestly don't give a rats, only noticeable difference is the G6ET will smoke only one wheel at a time, rather than both LOL!!! No noticeable dramas with the brakes (14,000ks so far) although they aren't designed to stop a 1,600kg odd car from 200km/h, 10 times in a row. They are adequate for everyday driving. I don't think any one else on here has had major problems with brake shudder, at least not like the BF's had. Mate, they are one classy, powerful car and I have had a few very minor issues (blue tooth, small oil seep from timing cover etc) but nothing really major and all the tiny issues were fixed at my last service. I still love driving it every day and would venture to say it is one of the best cars I have ever owned (that's after owning 2 faultless Subaru Liberty's) and would say, MATE JUST DO IT!!!!! (you know you want it )
  13. Shoot!!!! Bit hexy. Yep reckon you've been politely ripped you off for some of it. Mate I'd be jumping up & down on the prices you've been charged, especially for the radiator flush/fill & the trans fluid, that's crap. Edit: Service cost of $320 looks about standard though.
  14. LSD!!!!! Pffffftttttt!!! No real need for one really (well, not for us old farts) (now where did I put my Ford badged cardigan).
  15. Yeah just had my 15,000ks service. Has same issues as you, oil leak on timing cover supposedly fixed. No leak in diff though. Bolts from factory were apprently 3 or so mm too long and didn't torque the timing cover against the engine. Blue tooth also updated and working much better than before, also ICC issue where screen would flicker/go blank has been fixed. Don't know whether the blue tooth update fixed that as well, but the dealer apparently pulled the ICC out to check wiring. Have exact same problem with outside temps. 6 odd degrees out. Fraud wouldn't replace the sensor/outside mirror and on the service invoice it states that "Ford have no fix" for the temp sensor problem. Also if you read your manual it states the outside temp is approximate only, they don't giver a +/- error amount. They replaced my glovebox lid from another car and it appears to fit 99% better. They replaced the passenger screen washer as well, as it would spray too low on windscreen. Fixed a rattle from driver's door, apparently wiring loose and flapping inside. Overall fairly happier now, car still going awsomely well. Unless there are further warranty issues, the next service (oil/filter change) will be done by my trusted mechanic, so I won't be paying Fraud the $350 it cost me for the 15,000ks service.
  16. Very nice Grandad's there mate!!!
  17. Anyone for tea, scones and a quick 5.1 second squirt to 100ks in Grandpa's G6ET
  18. Nice car mate!!! Can I ask who did your LPG fitout, the cost and how do you rate it for economy, power, and so forth when running LPG.
  19. Don't forget some pics, pics, pics (oh, and did I ask for some pics as well )
  20. Hi Guys/Gals, Just a heads up from the Ford Forums re a problem with front tyres rubbing against the chassis. Have a read here: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11266161 Cheers.
  21. Well mines probaly not as traumatic as some I've read, but, anyways many years ago when I lived in Sydney I had a manicured lawn and garden and used to use a big set of shears (like really large scissors) to trim the edge of the lawn, between it and the garden, as it did the neatest/straightest edging and left no clippings in the garden. Well one day I was trimming away, the ex was yapping to me, I grabbed a clump of grass and went "snip" and cut the top of my left index finger clean off. Ooooch!!!! Man it wasn't a lot of skin and flesh, but sh*t it hurt like hell and took weeks to heal (couldn't pick me nose for ages ) And to make it worse, when I did it the ex thought it was a great joke, just stood there laughing at me (no wonder I divorced the b*tch)
  22. Yeah no worries mate, that makes me feel a bit better I suppose, just thought $350 for some oil, a filter and the time to change them was a bit high. After this service I think I might consider elsewhere (provided there are no real warranty issues in the future) as I'm sure a decent mechanical shop would charge far less.
  23. Thanks Mate, yeah I think Castrol Magnatec is a semi synthetic oil and what my dealer uses as well. I'm being stung $350 for the 15,000ks service, when originally when I bought the car I was told the services at 15,000ks intervals were between $250 - $280 (hmmm, must be inflation or something )
  24. Hi Gang, Can anyone who has had their G6ET 15,000ks service let me know what it cost you and whether they used synthetic oil during the change or not. Cheers
  25. Pics!!!!!!!!!
