  1. Yeah... My motivator was to SAVE money! For those dollars you could have a Passat R36...
  2. serious opinions you're after? You've come to the wrong place! The thing with the speedos is the school probably is stuffed either way. If they tell him not to wear them he can just as easily kick up a stink about being discriminated against because of what he wears. Remember it isn't like he bought these things from some underground market or fetish shop, they are available at Target ffs! Welcome to the 21st century. Sucks doesn't it
  3. I can get employee discount on any Ford (which is why I bought the G Spec over a Calais V) and looked at the Focus. And really didn't like it.
  4. Come on tab I'm sure you've got more to say than that...!
  5. AND they're cheap! Dubai Cars For Sale, Buy Sell Search Cars In Dubai, Dubai Used Cars In UAE I think one unit of their currency is about 30c Aussie if I'm not mistaken.
  6. Completely different price point to Jetta though isn't it?
  7. VW are doing 6.49% finance on new/demo Jettas at the moment, and doing some pretty effing good prices too. I picked up a demo model, no extras but is pretty well equipped for a base model. Just under 5000 kays on it, $29k on the road. Looking at CX9 for the mrs... although I can get staff price on Territory but it would be like getting into a Falcon... where's the fun in that! I want something new dammit. Have always liked the CX9 though
  8. You need yourself a G Spec Dillz... You'll get your bowls club cruiser yet! Smicky if boot space is any sort of priority the Jetta is a pretty good option
  9. Hot on the heels of Smicky's "should I or shouldn't I?!" thread... I'm one step ahead of him! In the interests of saving some dough (so that I can admittedly use that dough to upgrade the mrs' car!) I picked up a VW Jetta demo yesterday. It's the 118TSI which is the twin-charged thing and I gotta say, that thing moves! The 0-100 of 8.5 I think doesn't do it justice. The 1.4 is no replacement for displacement as they say but it's a pretty nice car in its own right. Now to sell the G-Spec. Sad face. Surely this act of treason will not result in cancellation of my membership
  10. pass
  11. I think their power estimates are done by the same people that are now doing their fuel economy...
  12. low 20s seems to be the generally accepted figure
  13. I've been looking into it too, had a guy out here to check out our typical usage, how many panels could fit, how much sun we get etc. They did suggest a payback period of around 5 years so that sounds about right
  14. I know you're not mate, just making sure anyone reading gets the right info. No doubt there are plenty of threads where people have said things about cars that are wrong that some poor schmuck like me will take as gospel and go off and do something stupid. At least THIS I do know about and can set things straight
  15. ZAP - couldn't be more wrong re the tax side of things mate (and I'm qualified to have that opinion) http://www.ato.gov.au/rba/content.asp?doc=/RBA/Content/92788.htm Unless you're "in the business" of generating electricity of course! Which on a primary residence (investment property is a different story) you are not considered to be

  20. I'm just happy Fraser has played his last game in the black and white!
  21. Even better if you have a speaker phone and don't have to waste time while you're on hold!
  22. I think it is cheaper to ship 4 tyres from there than 2... don't ask me how that works though! I bought Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric in about December last year when I managed to buy at about $0.92 as well. All I will say is for those importing, don't forget customs duty, quarantine inspection fees and of course GST. GST not a problem if you're in business, or if your car is salary packaged like mine
  23. Just ask Paul Hogan...
  24. Depending on when you lodge (the earlier the better generally!) two weeks is about average. They did release a document in July that said to tell our clients "not to rely on getting refunds in less than 30 days" although 'typically' they are released that quickly
