  1. Anyone else see the irony in the statement suggesting that an extra points rewards those that do the right thing??!! No doubt we're not angels and that we all transgress on the odd occasion but I would posit that if you have used up 12 points during a 3 year period, you're probably not one of those people that "does the right thing"!
  2. I drive to the city from Werribee each day - which means today I spent an extra 75 minutes in the car thanks to some douchebag truck driver that thought he'd fit under a bridge but thought wrong. After 2+ hours on the road, in the last 5 minutes of the trip (near where Flinders St meets Wurundjeri Way) this happened: A guy in a car squeezes into one of the 2 right hand turning lanes, in front of a truck. The car ends up to my left, fairly close to me. There was no cutting off or hard braking on the truck's part, but perhaps the truckie was in the same traffic I was (and/or speeding off his nut) and wasn't happy. So the truckie gets out and opens the guy's door, drags him out (fairly gently) and words are exchanged. No fists are thrown. The car had obviously left his handbrake off because the truckie pushed the car and it moved. As the door was still open I thought perhaps it had hit my car but wasn't sure. After it had all finished I asked the guy if it had hit mine and he said he didn't think so. I wasn't about to get out and check as the traffic was horrendous, and I'm the type that won his last fight by 50 metres. I get to the car park and have a quick look (I'm over an hour late by this point). It looks like there's a little something there, maybe a small dint, or maybe something that will come out with a cut and polish. I know feck all about cars so I really don't know what I'm looking at! I managed to get the guy's rego number and text it to myself - what do I do now? Do I contact my insurer and provide the details, do I get someone to look at my car and tell me what the ACTUAL damage is...??? Never been in this situation before so advice appreciated! What a great start to the day.
  3. ummm.... http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/10/general-motors-announces-q3-profit-of-1-96-billion-ahead-of-ipo/ Bailout aside that is a better result than Ford's Q3 isn't it?
  4. I would also think that RRP is irrelevant as clearly one car can be purchased for much further below
  5. Something a little different... Any my personal fave... this is brilliant!
  6. I'd heard some In Flames before Dillz but not that one... I'm right into the melodic sh*t at the moment. Speaking of...
  7. I think the point he's trying to make is that because supply is so low the dealers are refusing to move
  8. Maybe when you asked VicRoads for them they should have responded with 403!
  9. 35 would be about the lowest you would want to go... Inflation could/should vary depending on the way you drive; do you often have a full load of passengers, full load of luggage, spend most of your time driving at highway speeds, prefer to aim more towards fuel economy than outright grip... I have mine on 38-40
  10. I don't think Burton's throat can handle it anymore that's prob why they don't do it live!
  11. We've had this discussion, agreed that Resurrection is their best song yada yada yada...
  12. ... we always end up at the same place, pondering why FF put out rubbish albums towards the end. Sad face. Archetype kinda sucked really didn't it
  13. Ahh yes, I did hear that Apple was introducing this REVOLUTIONARY new app... they call it Voice Chat! Amazing!
  14. I'm with bunna - I went the space saver and there is indeed a nice little 'well' for carting groceries etc around. I considered going the full size but then my old man of all people, said to me "when is the last time you used a spare?" Having a space saver simply provides more incentive to get a wheel changed quickly in the event you actually end up using it, rather than just driving around with it and leaving it there until you can be bothered.
  15. In the OVERWHELMINGLY VAST majority of cases you will NOT pay tax if you have a solar unit in a private home.
  16. Slightly OT, what is the phone good for Dags? As in, do you need it for full Outlook (mail/calendar) integration? I'm looking remotely soon too and may be resigned to getting an iToy. Have only ever had Nokias but 1) Doesn't have full Outlook integration which I'm increasingly needing, and 2) The last 3, including current N97, just seem to be unreliable. In fact my wife had an N97 as well and thankfully ahem... one of the dogs dropped it in the water bowl and we made an insurance claim. Back on-topic... you will pay (and not through any 'comfortable' orifice either, it'll be a painful one) with Telstra
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irTv9olWcxg Volbeat - these guys are Danish and signed to Lars' label I think. Weird song name but they have some good shyte
  18. @seduced: The BF will never in a million years make anywhere near the economy of the VW. Also if I wanted an older car I would have bought one. Reliability is very important for me, I can't afford to be effing around with broken down cars from time/effort/financial perspective. I'm not saying the BF is guaranteed to break down but just making the point that clearly you are right in saying for $30k I could have basically bought anything I wanted. I'm also going to save money because it is quite a bit cheaper to insure, and no longer requires 245/35/19 tyres at $500 a corner (my choice to spend that much but so be it). Not sure if you're married mate but when you can save $5-6k a year (yes that's what I'm saving, trust me I'm an accountant I've done a spreadsheet!) that can buy you a family holiday each year. The G6ET is a brilliant car, I'm not going to deny I'm going to miss it. 85% of my driving is highway driving, the other 15% usually has wife/kids in it so I rarely get to enjoy its power. Fact of life sadly. Great car, but I don't get to truly enjoy it.
  19. Holy crap it's happening already! Why can I not edit that post?! I do hope the "you're" grammar was intentional of course...
  20. So what are you saying - we don't have anyone here with any real intelligence, that would be interested in such a fine piece of machinery...?
