  1. Can't imagine them getting too much cheaper than that. I suspect much of the discounting, general state of the economy notwithstanding, was because quite frankly most dealers needed to keep the bank at bay over the Christmas break! I got employee pricing and Ford was offering additional incentives for December order/deliveries ONLY. I've stopped looking at prices since I bought mine so if anyone else has seen them they're probably better qualified to comment but not sure there'd be much cheaper than that going round!
  2. He was actually! I hope they just stole him to sell rather than because of the noise. Neither possibility warms my heart though
  3. Just to echo what most have said - they are such a beautiful dog. Expensive to buy, expensive to keep (like to eat!). You MUST keep them occupied - ours ripped through the security screen door at both doors (laundry and back door) to our backyard. Then some pr*ck stole him :( Yup, came into our backyard and took him away. He was only 12 weeks old.
  4. Anyone had any issues re innacurate fuel gauge? Going to the bowser to fill up seems to suggest my trip computer is accurate in terms of Fuel Used, however the needle seems to suggest my tank is say 50-55 litres. Trip computer said I'd used about 44 litres, which is pretty much all I could fit in it at the bowser. Yet the needle was well and truly in the red and I even got the Range - 80km warning. Average economy is 12l/100km, so that warning would equate to say 10 litres left. I then also got the Range - 60km warning. This 'issue' has been consistent for the three weeks I've now had it, so I don't imagine it's due to an especially hot day or any of those sorts of 'theories'. Just thought I'd see if this was a common issue. I know Commodores have/had notoriously inaccurate guages (my VX was no exception!)...

    Vic Cruise

Put me down as a tentative/probable... gotta pop my Cruise Cherry sooner or later don't I!
  6. Where abouts? I live in the Claremont Waters estate.
  7. One of my old bosses about 5 years ago used to listen to Triple J breakfast show (Jay and the Doctor from memory) where someone was challenged to eat a whole lemon meringue pie during the show (3 hours?). I said that'd be easy, and that I could probably even do it quicker than that - he told me to put my money where my mouth was, I said you buy the pie, I'll eat it... unfortunately we never got round to it!
  8. Used to do 8 weetbix every morning when I was younger (and fatter, before puberty hit!). One day was really hungry so I did the 14 to equal Trevor Hendy (you remember his ad!). And then I figured well, I've done 14, I may as well go one better... so 15 is my record. Re the beer game its known as Hundreds or Centurion.
  9. I've noticed 105.1 Triple M seems to just say "YOU" which makes me laugh for some reason. I love the cruise control too, was impressed when the salesman showed it to me. Sounds insignificant but it's great compared to my old VX Berlina where it went up in increments of either 1.5 or 1.6 (can't remember which, 1.6 probably makes more sense though?). I like the digital speedo too - except it makes it 'harder' to speed. When you're on the analogue dial and you're in say a 70 zone, you can happily sit on 75 or just between 75 and 80. I find that, mentally speaking, if I'm looking at the digital speedo... it just feels weird to sit on even 72 or 73! Then of course there's the temptation to just sink the right boot and hope there are no cops around
  10. Werribee born n raised here - living in Tarneit now. Small world indeed gents!
  11. Welcome aboard - I did the same re employee price, but spent a bit extra on some wheels Really dont' know the answer to the question other than to confirm unequivocally that the car does not have LSD - there are several threads with people 'bemoaning' the lack of it, so there is no doubt about it.
  12. A nice change - cars actually EXCEEDING manufacturer's claims! Wasn't so long ago that a high 12 was a significant achievement for even a moderately modded car...
  13. Hey folks I've had mine for a tick over 2 weeks now, and I'm sure it's a case of WHEN rather than IF I start 'tinkering'. I can't imagine I'll be doing a massive amount to it, but I guess once you catch the bug...! My question (and please excuse me if it's already been discussed elsewhere but I'm new here and a quick scan around the place proved fruitless) - what sort of numbers is a stock G6ET such as mine good for? I guess in particular I'm curious about a) rwkw b) 1/4 ET @ MPH Of course I've read Wheels magazine and Cars Guide etc that suggest 0-100 in 5.1 secs and 1/4 in 13.3 secs, but figured I'd ask around the traps and see what you guys have achieved. Your memory does extend far enough back to when your cars were actually stock, right??!!
  14. Post up pics of the surrounds once painted if you can, would be very interested to see how that comes out!
  15. It was the Forty Six & 2 that gave it away! I've got Undertow, Opiate and Lateralus in mine at the moment, though mp3 CDs are my preferred poison (I don't have an iPod).
  16. Oops my bad! Timbos99: Must commend you on your choice of music, I do believe that's some Aenema you've got on your Premium Sound system there
  17. Yes we live in a new estate where the 'theme' is well, butterflies to be precise. Off-topic (in terms of bugs anyway), I've never owned a a) Turbo, b) New car, and thus c) a new, turbo car. Dumb question but how, and for how long, should I run-in the car? It's been suggested I not let it rev above 4k rpm until first service, which is of course 3,000 kms. Anyone care to add to that, tell me its rubbish, or advise otherwise?
  18. I'm 27 (well, 28 in May) and just got the new G6ET. No way could I have afforded it without the Ford employee (courtesy my bro-in-law) discount plus the add'l incentives they were offering for December. I'm a manager in a chartered accounting firm in Melbourne CBD, making decent coin I guess you'd have to say especially given my age! I've been married almost 11 months and have 3 stepsons, oldest is 11 and youngest is 5. Living in Melbourne's west and have what is statistically speaking an 'average' mortgage. The car is salary packaged as I do over 25,000kms in a year. By having it salary packaged (financed via a novated lease) I save probably around $3k a year over what it would cost me if it wasn't packaged. Happy to give anyone some advice if they are thinking about packaging a car! A turbo is a good car to package as the running costs are high relative to the cost of the car.
  19. I'm 27, perfect driving history, living in a 'not so great' suburb of Melbourne (not the worst, but certainly not the best). I'm with ING Insurance and paying $1,351 for a brand new G6ET. Windscreen coverage, rating one protection, etc. Standard excess of $500 I think, not covered for anyone under 25 of course. Haven't had to claim (touch wood) but no complaints with the premium for starters!
  20. Tuesday's arms and back It's boring but it's my life. Oops, I'd left the last post open on the monitor and the missus didn't seem too pleased with the prospect of me spending MORE money on the car! Now I REALLY feel at home posting on a car-related forum!
  21. heh thanks! So far so good... the most powerful car I've ever owned was my previous car, a V6 VX Berlina. At the risk of sounding boring (I do over 25k kays a year) the economy on highway is actually better than the Berlina. Of course, when that little pedal on the right hand side sinks downwards (I didn't press it officer, I swear!) yes a massive grin forms on my face! And of course even though I haven't spent a cent yet, I've spent over an hour on here already this morning since signing up checking out some cheap mods I can do. Not real keen to do too much to it yet, and of course any expenditure would need to be approved by the Minister for Love, War & Finance
  22. Early days yet! Only had it a week and a half, although it did clock up 850 kays the first week. At this stage I don't quite hate them enough to do anything about them, although I am still adjusting mentally to buying my first Ford

    New G6E

Hey guys, just picked up this one less than 2 weeks ago (just in time for Christmas!). I'm actually a Expensive Daewoo man but my bro-in-law works for Ford and got me an insanely good price (we're talkin $42k on the road, exactly as she looks here!) during December, so I couldn't resist.
