  1. But they're a minority; minorities are allowed to take the pi55 out of the majority you know. Which kind of spits in the face of equality doesn't it!

  3. I didn't realise he was still doing such good business! Wonder if he'll lose fans in Oz as a result...
  4. Whilst I haven't seen it, I'm still on the right track as I'm agreeing with pretty much everything you've said. I'm sure if I jump on YouTube I'll see it and won't need to change my opinion. I agree from what I've heard/read he handled it reasonably well, I'm just making the point that there was an issue in the first place. Perhaps it isn't entirely his own fault as he's just living up to the 'expectation' that there must always be someone offended by something like this. Perhaps my annoyance is also reflective of the fact that clearly the term globalisation really means Americanisation; in one way or another we seem to be having the American way of life and their values imposed upon us. But anyway that's another discussion for another day, far too D&M than I'd care to go into at this juncture. Out of curiousity mind you, is he making money these days? Haven't heard much of him lately. Just saying...
  5. That's the point; he made it all about HIM. Also proving the point he cares only about what Americans will think cos you know, America IS the world don't forget! I don't actually have anything that strongly against them I should add - as Russell Peters once said "I don't make up the stereotypes, I just see them".
  6. Firstly - I didn't actually see the episode. But that won't stop me from having an opinion! I figured somebody would mention it eventually so why not me. He said that if the show had been on in America it would have been terminated... 1. Funnily enough, it WASN'T in America. You're in Australia, Harry. 2. So WE offended YOU by doing something that is/was largely acceptable (and let's not debate forever and a day on whether it is acceptable in your opinion), while YOU were in OUR country??!! Would you go to say Saudi Arabia and say "look guys, I know you prefer the women to cover up but where I come from we wouldn't do that, so would you mind?" Puh-lease. 3. The reason our country is better than yours is because we're not a bunch of zealots and over-precious twats. If it wasn't for him nobody would have given a crap. There's a reason why Harry is languishing behind Robert Downey as Hollywood's favourate Junior! He's a flog!

  9. ... and if you reckon interest rates are about to go 'through the roof' in the next 18 months, the standard variable rate when he made that statement was in the mid teens!

  12. I'm not sure a calculator would fit the definition of bulky goods for starters. There is also a ruling which relates to sensitive items by the way. Maybe he has sensitive information on his computer. The fact is if he's doing work at home, he could not leave his tower at work. Granted it isn't a ladder or a cello, but what choice does he have? Sure he could catch a train, but imagine taking it on a train with him?! You could take a cello on a train too you know - you probably wouldn't but you could. Same goes here. I'm not saying it's a slam dunk I'm just saying I have claimed a lot worse in my time. The ATO tends not to audit claims under the cents per km very often., if at all.
  13. I would suggest that taking it home is part of your income earning activities; it in itself doesn't earn you money but it is an overall part of doing your job. Ergo there is a nexus It's like if I drive to a client - the client doesn't pay ME, so I don't earn any extra income, but it's still deductible travel as it relates to my income earning activities.
  14. You only get the 12% method if you've travelled more than 5000 business km in the financial year - guessing you don't satisfy that condition?
  15. Doesn't really matter if you've claimed it in the past - the "self-assessment" system we have in Australia means a deduction only gets knocked back if they actually audit the return. 99.9% of returns go through as-is without a further thought unless the ATO is targetting a specific industry/occupation. Put it this way: I've claimed FAR dodgier things for clients than what you're proposing!
  16. I thought those were the 19s... just realised the 19s are a 10 spoke aren't they Oops forget I said anything! I think I need a Bex and a lie down. When is Matlock on next?!
  17. Umm if that's your car in that picture right there... aren't those the 19s??!!
  18. Haven't driven both but the general principle would suggest a little harsher ride. Having said that I personally haven't seen too many G6E's in turbo guise in anything BUT the 19s so it can't be too bad if all the grandpas out there are happy on the bigger hoops (edit: spelling)

  20. Isn't it funny how basically all the threads in the G6ET forum end up being a pisstake about the 'age' of owners.
  21. You'll find stuff does shrink - my dad works for a large confecitionery fundraising company and in his 8 years there they've never increased the price of the product, only reduced the size. This year is the first time they've increased prices.
  22. I'm yet to have to cart my bass and bass amp around but I won't be doing it in the G6ET unless I have a nice think blanket down first. Wouldn't want to go ripping the leather now, or even scratching it. Actually the amp is quite big (well the cab anyway, 4 x 12"), it JUST used to fit in the back door of my VX Berlina. And I'm 28 as well
  23. I'm pretty sure you're right re the $250. The one with the indented section has the space saver, fullsize gives you a flat boot. As well as giving more room, the indented bit is good for shopping etc
  24. Maybe my dealer was just bullsh*tting me - there would be almost no precedent for that would there?!?!
