Exhaust change, back to the first tuner and re-tuned. All sweet. Not driven until a week later had foot into it & helmet on heard it pinging then missing, damage done. (was willing to wear this, my fault must have been a mechanical failure no ones to blame ra ra ra should have heard it earlier). Engine re-built ran on dyno with SAME fuel in tank when engine let go, was TOLD current tune had several flaws that would have contributed to the detonation. Info of the flaws was sent to old mate, cant explain it. Now im outa pocket wads of cash no way of getting it back. I can deal with that. Maybe that it was a combination of a lot of things, quite possibly it was the tune or bad fuel. Only ever had 98 in it but how do you know your getting 98 from a bowser, is it not a busy servo, 98 bowser hardly used, has the fuel gone off, down to 95 etc etc... Was it on boarder line?

It was rebuilt to same specs, the previous tune's af ratio's were wrong, too much timing etc.. in the new tuners experience, after the rebuild they run the car up on the dyno with the old tune to see where its at then retune it. The two tuners also talk on a regular basis and all data was shown to this tuner, the stuff up's were outlined.

Yeah I can appreciate what your saying, western suburbs.

Had car tuned in Melbourne, it detonated about a week after I had it done. The first tune was fine for a month or so but the second tune after an exhaust change only lasted a week. After the engine rebuild it was ran on another dyno/another tuner and could not do one power run on previouse tune due to detonation. Previouse tuner is aware of this and wont admit mistake claiming ignorance even after evidence is put to him by other expert tuner. Just wondering if anyone has had success in claiming compensation through small claims, fair trading etc? I know its a long shot, but surely they cant get away with it! Also its not the only car that the engine has let go by this tuner in melbourne recently, and other cars are getting around with undesirable tunes. Any advice or experience is greatly appreciated.

I test drove a sedan, it sounded much better and felt quicker only after 165 km. My ute has now done 2000km. Hoping it will loosen up a bit and give me a little more. I jumped into my 08 fg xr8 ute after around 10000km one day and it was like a light was switched on. You could notice the power diference.

Interested in the what has gone wrong! Just got a GS ute, not impressed with the power. FG XR6T feels quicker in stock form. Have driven GT 335's they are much quicker. Also the ute doesn't have the BI Modal exhaust, sounds like an FG XR8. If I change the exhuast to get a decent note I void my warranty if something goes wrong. In saying that though, I haven't heard of any other failures of the coyote engine. Will be selling it.

I will have a brand new set of GS 19" wheels when car is built in a couple of weeks, am looking to swap for genuine Dark Argents. Rims only, will keep tyres. Willing to negotiate. In Victoria. Thanks.

Thanks fellas. I will try shifting manualy next time out as suggested by my tuner (BF ZF'S shift slower that FG ZF'S, hence the FG burble). Have put a different exhaust on about to get another tune. Should be hopefully making a bit more power, possibly 360 give or take. Will keep ya's posted. Cheers

Ran at calder for the first time BF F6 ZF with 334rwk. 1/4...12.3 was my best time with a 2.1 60' @ 118.30 mph/190.39 kph. Factory dunlop sp on 19's. 35 psi. Wondering if I should be going quicker. Some room for improvement, but enough for high 11's?

Dam just got a brand new set off a mate. My misses doesnt want them on her FG now gotta get rid of them. Willing to swap for a set of non genuine FG typhoon wheels with or without tyres if interested.

Pretty much sorted out now. Will post photo's etc a bit later.

Hi just wondering if FG xr 19's fit over brembo's?

Cooler uses two holes that are already drilled on the bottom radiator support panel ( just need to tap M6). The top mounting point you just drill two new holes, the Plastic cowl that sits under your bonnet release latch covers these bolts. Hot side pretty easy to get on. Will post some pics when im done. Cheers

Cooler's installed & hot side piping. About to do cold side. Not sure if I need to cut out any metal under headlight etc. Was sent a few basic instructions ( for CAI and mounting cooler only). No helpful pictures. Need to buy a vacuum line for BOV as one was not sent in kit. Getting there!
