I hear that mate, I bought my wife an Aurion, but she really wanted a Territory, so a couple of months later, I sent her out to get one and she came back with an XR6 Turbo for me! Territory was nice, but it's nothing on the Turbo!

Nothing I think.. certainly nothing as big as a timing belt. I don't think it ever gets any bigger than changing the spark plugs, apart from the usual stuff. Oh and don't worry too much mate, I've got an 02 Turbo with 90k, and it's still pretty nice and tight. Much nicer to drive than our boggo XT BFII wagon at work! Just be a little careful - they are so much fun to drive you'll buy the first one you test drive! Well that's what I did, but I think, thus far, I got pretty lucky. Don't be afraid to shop around, there should be more than a few under 20k these days.

Carsguide has got heaps in what you're looking for mate, the going rate for BA turbo's is around the $20k mark or under. I picked up my 02 for $18k with 90k on the clock.

I'd have been up for that too, but I got a better offer from the missus! ;D

Mine was a second hand BA Turbo, but through a Ford dealer. They were excellent! Was actually shopping for a Territory, which they dropped off at my place and let me have for the weekend with no pressure! And got a pretty good trade in on my POS car too. Only problem was they couldn't tell me if it had a non-standard muffler! Happy to get a few little things fixed straight away (for nix) for me too.

hahah yeah I know, Ford gave me $300 for it, then I saw it at another povo dealer for $2k! Scoundrels! lol But who can pick 'em when it comes to other mods?? lol

guys, before my 02 Turbo (with 18's and sports muffler) I was driving such a POS car that the wreckers offered me $80 for it!! That's povo! Ford gave me $300 off my Turbo though! lol

I guess you've got to ask yourself how much that extra $$$ is really worth to you - for example, I sent my missus out to test drive a $22k Territory for her, and she came home with an $18k 02 XR6 Turbo for me! Originally I had budgeted about $12k for a car (like a Getz, ewww), the extra stretch to the Turbo was so worth it. Sure it's worse on the go juice, but goddamn I love it!

Had this issue just yesterday... oh well, guess it's just another one of those Ford issues we all have to live with huh?

Just went from this: to a 02 Turbo... which the wife picked for me! I sent her to test drive a Territory, and she came back with the Turbo! What a gal! :D The Applause was pretty worked (and worked over). Gawd damn glad to be rid of that bonnet. Such a bogan magnet! lol
